  • I have a silver 09 Mazda 6, it's a great car.

  • @sszhao11 I just bought a black 09 Mazda 6 as Christmas gift to myself. Great car :)

  • 1:28, How did that cost $700+? I would have just laughed at the ding and drove off...

  • @NewtProductions Prob mostly labor, and like 5$ worth of foam that they charge 235 for.. LOL

  • Love how they ramped up all the tests after promoting how "safe" the mazda is....3mph on all runs for the Mazda except the 6mph rear impacts but for the rest of the cars tested all 6mph on all test runs....Can we say FIXED OUTCOME.....lol pathetic and bias...

  • that little cute accident cost ~1000$ ???

so if one of these cars hit a tree @60m/h

how much would it cost ?

  • Yay I love crash test

  • This testing makes no sense. Even if the car being hit is stopped, it is still going to absorb much more of the impact through its suspension alone then a metal bar connected to a concrete wall.

  • 8 people have a malibu

  • @MrVac14

And the 2010 Ford Fusion did worse than the 2007. People wanna talk shit about Japanese cars and say "Buy American", but Japanese cars are on top for a reason. If anything, American cars are just now starting to catch up.

  • @Nickhead87 my name is nick by the way lol

  • 8:41 so thats how you get the nissan emblem off!!

  • @bennettjt00 HAHHA

  • This is sickening to watch! Such minor damage and it is nearing 2,000 bucks at times? Why are the bumpers so damn flimsy and expensive? I had a 1979 Honda Accord that I rearended a pickup in. My car had no damage, couldn't even tell the accident had happened. The bumper of the pickup was pushed underneath and EXPENSIVE. Why these bumpers flimsy expensive things?!? confuses me.

  • lol, i thought that bumpers were made to save lives of the people the car hit xD But apperently not in the states

  • do they fix the cars and then sell them, or trash them completely?

  • More than half of these crashes I would not fix them.

  • My fix: tape for headlights $1.50, touch up paint and primer: $7.75

  • noooo not the nissan badge! (sarcasm)

  • do i really care is if have to pay a couple of $100 dollars to sort it out? this is america here not uganda

  • 8:43 GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 1:50 aluminum foil?

  • nowadays we don't have "bumpers" we have stylish fronts and rears in cars completely against taking an impact

  • Another reason GM needs to restyle that ugly grille on the Malibu.

  • why wasn't the camry tested?

  • how come you see All of the detail in the impact on the second slowmo?

  • @Techmen93 I care, it directly affects my rates.

  • 5:38 headbump ;D

  • Who cares how much the ins comp has to pay.

  • i want naormal version not slow motion

  • I think the moral of the story is, don't run your car into anything.

  • at 2.08 - is the headlight made out of High Density Polythene or sumtin?!

  • PAINT IS WHY IT"S SO HIGH...

A new cover is only like 200 bucks.. but prep paint etc is what the places charge up the ass for...

a new bumper absorber the styrofoam maybe 60 bucks but a deeler will charge you liek 200 for labor

  • anybody with a ford fusiin if u ever get in a rear accident and the bolt from ur bumper falls off, bring it to me i will put on another bold for free. 2600 is ridiculous!

  • these cars are made of gold or what??

    minor, hardly-visible damage on the bumper...and 700, 1800 and 2000dollars?? How?

  • We should use that yellow bumper from IIHS

  • poor nissan....8:52

  • Pontiac G6 is the worst, when you hit someone from behind it literaly digs under the car crumpling up the Pontiac hood. Which costs a shit load of money to get it fixed. Not to mention it crumples like a piece of paper.

  • in my 2007 pontiac G6 at 45 Mph, the entire front got pushed up to the engine lmfao..I fixed it (full insurance) it's all good now :)

  • that Chevy is made of paper

    WAKE UP ! people

  • 9:32... no more than 200 dollars at private repair shop... all that broke is a break light.

  • its the prices from dealer repair shots which are bullshit.... your regular repair shops you would pay 200 cash tops. unless of course you want to milk ur insurance.

  • Metal bumpers and nothing to talk about.

  • hahahahaah the maximas bafge fell of at 8:40

  • LOL built ford crap lol, OMG hahaha so why do we buy domestic....so we can pay more for repair!

  • @matteoiseuro I'de take a Ford over any of the asian crap out now.

  • @MSNIMSM typical, hey remember when crown vic's for the crusiers would exploded when they were re-ended. and how domestics made their vechiles with low quality for 20yrs straight. and how they needed bail-out's and hmm imports didn't......

  • @matteoiseuro You should see howmany imports we get at our shop at the ASE training program. Botom line is: All cars suck. They all break down and cost money to fix.

  • plastic all of it. bumpers aren't even that anymore compare a bumper from the 80s or 70's and see what a bumper is.

  • mazda 6 is plastic at 3mph

  • One thing I think needs to be recognized in these tests is that bumpers are not designed with replacement costs in mind but instead with pedestrian safety as a top priority. I would prefer a car that might have a higher repair cost if it meant that someone whose been hit by that car is more likely to survive with little to notinjuries. Remember this test is conducted by insurance companies worried about the bottom line, nothing else.

  • wow ford fusion is glued paper!

  • doesnt look bad from afar but maybe up close it bad

  • lol all cars a made in plastic nowadays

  • I can't remember that the video is called but they did a test like this comparing modern cars to cars from the 80's and in the same tests here, a car from the 80's suffered only 80 dollars in damage.

shows how much auto makers are skimping out on strength for looks.

  • All the pricing they got are with OEM parts, and they can get expansive. One small crack and the IIHS factor in a new bumper cover.

My car was in a light collision. I got a quote for $356 for OEM bumper cover and another $329 to paint it, $134 for the foam behind the bumper, and $109 for the left corner lamp. Almost a grand for parts only.

I repair it myself and get a $13 corner lamp from a salvage yard, a new aftermarket painted bumper cover for $167, and I tape up the foam. About $200.

  • Guys, don't fool yourselves into thinking there is no damage, because you can't see any! What you may not realize, there is hidden damage inside the bumpers, which consists of energy absorbed materials. It absorbs the energy as you bump them the first time, that's why there isn't exterior damage. here is the thing, if you bump it the 2nd time, it won't work. even if you can't see a scratch, you still have to check the energy absorbing material inside the bumper. this is why it's expensive.

  • This is the most stupid and inaccurate crash test video I've ever seen. I think that first car held up quite well and in no friggen way does it cost over $700 for all thos 6 and 3 mph impacts...More like $7.67...some of them you can't even see any damage. FAIL

  • This is so stupid how can the frontal bumper crash for the maxima be poor????? If it bearly did anything? This video is so fucking stupid!

  • $742 for the first one?? yeah right at 6 mph there isn't even any damage. at that speed the damage is $000, just drive away not even a scratch.

  • all new cars have a high repair price....

the air bags go off and in Australia its roughly $1000 (aud) to replace them

  • @rctsos What is wrong with you? The Sonata did better than three of these cars. All of which cost more! Quit hating on Hyundai. Your a fucking racist.

  • Okay.. so im pretty curious.. After these cars go through these bumper tests.. what happends after.. do they get repaired and sent to a brand named dealership/ non-name brand dealership or.. do they get sold in auction for like cheap as is with the damages?

  • the headlights r flexible too nicw

  • It really depends what type of vehicle you hit, or hits you. If you hit a car with bumpers at the same height as your car, then there might be no visible damage. But, if you smack the back of a delivery truck, then you might pierce your hood and shatter your windshield.

  • the maxima did so bad! i got a 2010 sonata and im happy with the results

  • @mdoohan007 so u have the ugliest car of the group? yeah congrats, should have waited for the new one

  • crunch

  • bumpers are pretty bouncy

  • Heheh. The Nissan Badge falls down on 9:04

  • s h u t u p !!!!!!!

  • @LiLTBoyy115 haha, i saw this, i was laughtin at it, all 3 times

  • i would prefer my car to crumple more, as it pretects me more and slows down the impact, out of all these cars the new ford fusion is nicest and the nissan is good too. it should be the opposite, i don't care about damage or cost, as long as it protects me more.

  • Insurance companys dont care asbout the human side, they care about the $ side. Remember, these tests were done by the insurance institute for highway safety.

  • oh right gotcha...

  • Similarly, the guy in this video should lose some weight to avoid the diabeetus or a heart attack.

    Hypocrite.

  • That video was awesomely bad it was boring and quiet for like 10 minutes and suddenly the auto channel logo comes out and gives a startling scream at you.

  • Instead of plastic they should make it out of thick metal that way you smash someone at like 20 miles an hour and it wont have any dents or scratches let alone repair costs!

  • you must not have a brain at all! do you know why cars arent made out of pure metal now?!?! its to SAVE the passenger! plastic absorbs the impact. it may total the car but it was made to save the passenger in the end not the car.

  • Exactly, I didn't see ur comment =)

  • yeah but then you have to pay the other one´s car damage, and the damage would be higher cuz´ your bumper is thiker and stronger... i believe

  • It would save the car a lot of damage but the passengers would die since the energy is being taken out on them. Cars used to be designed like you say they should be, then we learned that it's not safe.

  • then how do you explain a steel rally car smashing into a wall at 110MPH and the driver just walked away?

  • 110 mph??? What car??? no car can support that, show me the evidence

  • it was on a show called destroyed in seconds on discovery channel.

  • Its built for racing! thats why. What do you think the helment, 5-point racing seat belts, a roll cage, and a fire supression system, and are for? Because race cars are expected to crash.

  • from what I saw the Hyundai Sonata deserved the highest rating.

The Mazda and the Sonata both looked like nothing happened to them. HOW THE HELL does it cost hundreds of dollars to fix IF THERE'S NO DAMAGE!

  • its what you can't see that gets damaged.

  • Well, can the bumper still effectively "bump" after one hit? Or if you hit a second time will it destroy the plastic cover?

  • There is hidden damage behind all of that metal/plastic.

  • Internal Damage probably.

  • Goddamn intros. Stupid. Lets get to the point

  • hahaha the nissan badge came off on the front test lol

  • this is bad my mom has a 2008 accord but someone already hit it in a rear

    corner impact

  • I disagree with that score given to mazda6. Look carefully at 2:08, the right headlamp and bumper got BROKEN!! How it can be better than Sonata's results?, the Sonata just got some movement on the front bumper and the lamp got poped out a bit, but not bumper and headlamp broken like Mazda6. Sonata also perfomed way better than Mazda6 in rear bumper test, How they gave the best score to Mazda6??. IIHS, Please be realistic and not comercial!

  • @wtrdogg20 How are you comparing apples to apples... The Mazda 6's test you are talking about is the front corner, they didnt even show the front corner of the sonota, Second they average out the total cost of damage of all 4 tests ,... if you really want to compare. The 6 still did exponentially better in the full frontal than the sonota, Someone needs to go back to school and learn how to make good and proper observations

  • @rslemmer09 Exponentially better? Just because the lamp in Sonata popped out a little bit?, you have to see what happens inside the 6 bumper.

And about the corner test on the Sonata, well, may be they forgot to add it, but you can see it right here:

/watch?v=nmGgBmndXRo at 0:47. You'll note the lamp in the Sonata just moved a little, but did not get broken like in the 6.

Learn to research and find more information than what you see before posting your observations, go back to school, kid.

  • @wtrdogg20 Wow... it did better in one test... but again realize they average total cost to repair the vehicle which is how they base their rating. Which I said in the initial response. Maybe you should learn how to read too, because i said in the full frontal not the corner you moron

  • @rslemmer09 Moron you and your mom, fucking asshole!

Why dont you just accept that you got no argument. You complained about no front corner test in the Sonata, and I found it for you, and thats why I got my comment posted in the first time.

As you can see in the video (if you are not blind) they put the price per damage, not overall right away, and it is very clear they are advertising the Mazda, because the numbers doesnt match with the visual damage.

Learn to analyze facts, fucking fanboy!

  • @wtrdogg20 Have I once resorted to cursing? No... I would appreciate it if you didnt, are my eyes and ears virgin... no... Im trying to be a little more polite. Yes you provided a video. Yes The sonata did slightly better in the front and rear corner testing. but look at the design of the vehicle in comparison. The 6 is based for aerodynamics and for its slightly narrower bumper it fairs very well. Wait until they test the latest sonatas bumpers, it will do the same thing as the 6 maybe worse

  • Comment removed

  • You called me Moron, then I called you with whatever the adjective I want to, Are we clear?, little virgin?

Next time, choose your words more carefully. Sometimes when people say something they should not, they get an answer they won't love.

BTW, I insist, the values seems to be fake, since it is an old video, it wont be any rare that Mazda paid this people for some good ad. Now Mazda is nothing impressive, still almost a rebadged Ford, while Hyundai has all the attention now.

  • BTW, End of Discussion... I dont waste my time with fanboys, reply as much as you want. I got 5 likes in my initial comment, I am not the only one who thinks that the numbers are fake.

Go and keep thinking Mazda is better and the best and all that....It is just another brand, not bad, but getting behind like all other Japanese car makers....

    DISMISSED!

  • @wtrdogg20 what a fucking lame flamewar

  • @rslemmer09 And BTW, It did not better in one test, actually in 3 test: Frontal Corner, Rear Corner and Full Rear....

Next time pay attention to the video and dont be blind for your Fanboy feelings.... Be objective, and not a Moron Fanboy....

  • @wtrdogg20 If the front corner of the mazda 6 is the weakest part of it. Its more acceptable than the entire front end. Its easier and cheaper to pull a fender, and replace a headlamp and the cover, vs pull the frame on which the impact bar is mounted as well as both headlamps, and the radiator brackets.

But as i said earlier again. They base the entire rating on the average damage cost. Yes they post the cost per test prior to each test. but it is based on an average.

  • They need to build cars like they used to, I drove a 79 lincoln mark V several years ago and that thing was built like a tank, It looked like it was in mint condition despite the fact that it was driven by morons and had been driven into things a couple times. And on the sad day that it caught fire from a freak electrical problem, it took five firemen a full minute with the biggest pry bar they could find to force the hood open. Now THAT was a car.

  • wow, maybe they should start going back with the metal chrome bumpers they have on trucks. ANd how in the f*** you gonna go backwards in design for bumpers?

  • GREAT JOB MAZDA!!!

  • Well that's expensive at least ,Hyundai, mazda and Honda improved....but the worst performers were the Maxima,Fusion and Malibu......

  • wtf how is it $700 4 6:25

  • You see?, this results compared with the results for the Mazda6, are better!!, Hyundai Sonata performed way better than Mazda6.

  • @vintimv001 I think the seams needed to be repaired cuz they came apart a little if u know what i mean

  • @vintimv001 Damage to the underside. The stuff you cant see without looking!

  • @vintimv001 prob set off airbag they're expensive to replace

  • @chevyman1984rebuild it was a rear impact?

  • Wheres the new Taurus?

  • That was a private party, and Taurus and -Camry were not invited!! May be they are not popular anymore...

  • the taurus is a large sized sedan.

  • barely

  • barley*

  • wtf why is the damage cost so high, it braley did nothing on most of them

  • the Bummber line is to low so that orange thing pushes it up in to the the enigine and other performance parts

  • oh ok

  • @greasycan Yea that's the thing. Cosmetically it doesn't look too bad, but the foam or whatever structure that's inside the bumper gets messed up as well.

  • @greasycan coz the bumper needs to be fixed and repainted
