Salazar's REAL family either died out, or abandoned him for whatever reason, and the closest thing he had left to family afterwards was his butler, and Los Illuminados! how could he not be crazy! Saddler might have spoiled him rotten until he got as bad as someone from the Ashford family!

I realized something not too long ago. You remember how the Verdugo has the crown jewel? Who else would have the crown jewel except the castellan? I think the verdugo's are Salazar's parents. It's a thought.....

Good point, but Salazar had become so reckless after being energized by Las Plagas, that he probably didn't care who got his treasures anymore, the Verdugo might simply be a side effect of Salazar's transformation, he's the brain, they're the brawn...

Either that, or Salazar's real parents as well as any other family members simply left the Castle for some other reason making Saddler and Los Illuminados the closest thing to friends and family he had, Saddler seemed more interested in spoiling Salazar than bossing him around...

True. They were probably opposed to ?Los Illuminados since it was the original castellan who had the plagas locked up with the members of the cult way back in the 1600's. So either way they left, they didn't agree with the cult and I think Saddler guilt-tripped/brainwashed Ramon insto "atoning for the sin"....either way I don't consider Salazar to be just one-sided and wholly evil. I think he had a lot of good in him at first.

Salazar was one of the most potentially 3 dimensional villains in R.E. history, which is one of the reasons I wasn't that happy when I (Leon) had to shoot him to death, of course, the old R.E. 4 was going to have Leon hallucinate, so it may only LOOK as if Salazar has died...

I wasn't happy either. He was so great, despite his obvious midgetness. I saw on Deviantart a picture someone drew of how he might look when he was young before getting infected (or injected, whichever.) And he looked like Kadaj from Advent Children. It was so cool. I don't think that the Verdigos are his parents, I think that all of his family just died and when he was all alone and vonerable at that time Saddler took advantage of the moment. He offered him some friends, the verdigos!! XD

I blame the writers! Ramon Salazar could have been one of capcom's best baddies ever had they tried to make him a better character! but alas, he was reduced to so much less... but if all us Salazar fans can find a way to convince capcom that killing off all their most potentially awesome characters (both good and bad...) maybe we'll see Salazar come back some day! hey it could happen!
