Sorry but , life was not any easier back in the 1970s. We had different problems, like the threat of gobal nuclear war. May sound funny but we all had many sleepless nights ot terror dreams about what that might be like. All our music-"Tull" , "Yes", "Pinkfloyd", "Bowie","Stones" etc etc had to be bought . No one played this type of music on the radio back then...and many times you felt like you might be the only person in your town who even knew who those guys were.
Don't get me wrong. I'm glad you guys have the internet and access to all the best music from history etc. You have no idea how powerfull this internet is as an agent for social change....Whats it that Neil would say...."keep on rocking in the free world".
get the video " Live at Pompeii " 1972, Has great interviews, music and unique Pink Floyed quality that only Floyed has mastered. Don't mind getting the directors cut, Mon. night quarterbacking with no addition to the flow, interrupting.
I Have a video of Floyed, "Live in Pompeii " that has some of the Dark side of the moon tracks being recorded and some great interviews with the young man in the band, not to mention some great music. Recommend & find some out takes. Enjoy... medical marijuana helps regain the true experience of the 70's lol
@robertmarkley oh yes how right you are my friend I just my [script] filled today and now tonight it`s time to relax with the boys, e.z.wider is filled with medical ezzzzzzz and the day some how is gone and the music is all around ahhhhhhhh
I wish i didn't always have to go back 30 plus years to find my music, im just tired of marinating in the hip hop music generation its all around me and i'm choking.....
@bruces3 .....well look on the bright side. Maybe all those talentless sellouts will die before you or I. Then a change of guard may take place. Of course one can't rule out the importance of good producers(Simon will burn in hell for his deeds). Does anyone out there with money want to help me produce a record....tape...itune...or whatever?
"A pillow of winds" always makes me feel like a monkey in a cage, sitting on a Land Rover's roof as it crosses the serengeti at dusk. "Fearless" is when i brake out of my monkey cage and stare at the oppressive driver until he decides to jump out the window and i perform a grand theft auto and journey to the coast where i can the rest of my chimp ass life as a commercial fisherman. Thanks Ibrione for letting Pink Floyd play me a mental motion picture.
@Disturbed4Life99 Call it concieted, but i felt that i had to let the world of youtube know what came to my thought when i heard these songs, but ofcourse the effects of the music depend on the day's expiriences; i just happened to see that story in my head that day when i heard Meddle. I'm sorry for the inconvienience, but thanks for not being an asshole to me, and thanks for appriciating Pink Floyd.
The "jam" that constitutes the second part of "Echoes" is accompanied by a cheesy melotron organ (reminiscent of the 60's) David Gilmour on the electric guitar shines as a master of the instrument. The bass line is incredibly well orchestrated. Overall one of the best jam sessions ever performed.
San Tropez is the jewel here. The jazzy guitar chords and percussion offer a synchopated rhythm that gives momentum to the opus.It is not rock it is more a mixture of jazz and easy listening. The piano enters triumphally and finishes with a magnificent solo. The lyrics are performed in a dreamy fashion like the rest of the album you would swear they were stoned when they recorded this. Great music!!!
@Tariffs How 'bout: DSOM > Animals = Meddle = The Wall > Wish You Were Here = Obscured By Cloud.....and the rest; Barrett's best work seemed to be solo to me. ???
A Pillow of Winds always makes me sleepy. I swear. If I listen to it in my nice comfy black chair, and close my eyes I will be on the verge of sleep. Better than any medication.
My first Pink Floyd album. All my friends thought I was super cool. It's funny about what impresses people. I still love this one though. Many all night sessions held listening to this one along with staring at the trees. LMAO
Some people think modern music - and I must let you know that it means all kind of music since the 1940's, 1950's - is just some sound made to go against classic culture without any reason, but isn't it what a revolution is? Isn't it a evolution? I can't understand why people say that these late 1960's music, like Pink Floyd, is just some drunk guys music. They are too afraid to like something off-beat is good, different from anything else, or worse - they say it's too old to be good.
Yeah this the Pompeii version of Echoes isn't it? I like it more than the original. I'd say it was a bold move to put it on this video. I listen to it all the time. Thanks @Ibrione.
Does anyone know what that picture is on the album cover? It's pretty hypnotic. I keep looking at it and seeing something new every time. It looked like a dinosaur at first. I was wondering if it was any particular thing at all.

My favorite group. I really respect their craftsmanship.
This music would not appeal to a pop culture made of 1 syllable words and filthy sound-bites.
Echoes would have to be one of the most perfectly done songs in my opinion. What a great poem too.
