Without implying you can't play the tune, I'd swear the audio IS the original record... That explains the synchronisation problems and the abrupt fade out in the end.
Unfortunately, the M tron ends at G-1 I guess, so it is impossible to play the bass notes! Can somebody help me? I tried to transpose the samples using the midi editor from Cubase 4 but it didn´t work!
I'd like to help you, but I use FL Studio instead. You have to shift the range to a lower part of the keyboard in order to play the bass part and the high part at the same time on the same keyboard. This way you can simulate the two seperate keyboards of the original Tron. So I´m not talking about changing the pitch of the notes, but assigning the notes to a lower part of the keyboard.
I shared your frustration till I saw this. The M_Tron's AccB_Viols_Brs patch was great until you get to high F#/A# chords (I think there's only 2 notes, not 3 as you've done) then you run out of keyboard.
In Logic's Mainstage I've set up 2 keyboards, one with Brass and Violins and the other with Accordion. That way, like Midtown you can get the full range. It's like using 3 M-Trons and I guess any modern DAW can do the same.
Wow, makes the hairs stand up on the back of the neck just like the original. Very well done, not only the notes but that sound... that fantastic SOUND. The only thing missing is a dark stage with curtain backdrop and black light. ~Linux0s
Thanks. I transposed another instance of the M-Tron VST a couple of octaves down in order to play the bassline because it's a different sound from the rest. The original Genesis version was played on an early Mellotron which features two keyboards so I tried to emulate that.
The sound you hear on this video is made up of three different M-Tron tape presets.

Midtownmanhattan - GREAT JOB! But on the second chord (d flat), add a 'B' with your thumb and you'll have perfection.

Combine the presets to get the following:
left hand: "Bass Accordian"
right hand: "Brass2" together with "MKII_Violins"
