  • Dude, U are going to have a lot of work on next week comics... 20 Marvel's comics are going to be release, most of them are good.

Are U going to review the comics that are going to be release on Free Comic book day.

  • I did review the FCBD stuff last year, so I anticipate reviewing them this year.

Also, I didn't pay much attention to my invoice when I saw it last week, so I can't say for sure how many I'm looking at reviewing this week... but stay tuned! :)

  • The Hotness? Who are you, Paris Hilton :P

    Good reviews.

  • "The Hotness" is a copyrighted statement by people far cooler than Paris Hilton. :)

  • LOL! Nice toss. Like right handed lurf onto the ground. I think Amazing Spider-Man is like a revolving door that slaps you in the face with every 1/4th rotation, but once in awhile, the slap misses.

The Marvel numbering system on long standing books is tacky. Same with DC On Superman.

DC & Marvel should just publish a we F'd Up One-Shot and admit their mistakes and then retcon them all in every way so we can all start over... again.

I liked David's own mock spoilers.

  • I liked Wolverine NOIR too. Though I must say the regular cover is UGLY!! He looks like he's covered with pubic hair. Other than that, it was a kick ass book.

  • wolverine noir is for sure the best of the noir line so far and it's only one issue in! That's very promising as I was contemplating dropping the noir titles. Even the spidey one was fairly average, this is a definite step up. ASM 591 kinda pissed me off too.

  • I was onboard with Wolverine noir once I heard that CP Smith was doing the art, he did a brilliant one off story in issue 40 of the main wolverine title, a really great up and coming artist.

Captain America is still one of my favourite titles but this whole renumbering thing I'm not sure about, its pretty opportunistic by marvel. And how they work out the numbering I dunno because Cap took over the book Tales of Suspense in the 60's, he wasn't even in the first 50 issues or so of that book.

  • How did Amazing Spider-Man "drop the ball" or "bait and switch"? They teased whether or not the FF were going to find out his identity and (spoiler) though they didn't find out at the the start of the issue, by the end of the issue Spider-Man did unmask for them.

I am very confused about your review. I thought it was one of the best issues of Spider-Man since BND started.

  • this issue was advertised as the one to explain the whole mind wipe thing. in the New Ways To Die arc also by Dan Slott they mentioned a "we" that made everyone forgot Spider-Man's identity. in this issue it completely glossed over anything anyone would actually ask. instead of a reaction like "why did you mind wipe everyone Spider-Man?" we got "I'm not supposed to talk about the mind wipe, but I'll tell you it exists" and no one questioned it. that is what the Bait and Switch was.

  • Yes. Exactly.

I'm okay with Pete unmasking for the FF, just as I was when he unmasked in New Avengers.

  • But it did explain the mechanics of HOW the mind wipe works. And in the end, Spider-Man did unmask to the Fantastic Four. I still don't see what all the comic-throwing-outrage is for.

  • I wanted the rest of the Spidey/FF story to be as tightly-written as the first half. Instead, it was glossed over in favor of Spidey arguing with the Torch, and generally bumped aside for "we've got to show you what's happening during these two months".

I'd rather seen the Spidey/FF story with the cliffhanger that when they return home "everything has changed", instead of investing us in that story with 590 and tossing it aside in 591.

  • So you're upset that they had subplots? I'm still confused. There was a cliffhanger: would the FF see Spidey unmasked. Though it didn't happen at the beginning of the story, it happened at the end. The cliffhanger was paid off not tossed aside.

And when they returned home, everything has changed. J. Jonah Jameson is mayor. That's a pretty big change.

  • If you read 590, you end up expect something radically different from 591. That's all I'm saying.

  • So comics should be more what you're expecting and not throw you a surprise? ;)

  • Yes. Also, all those kids should get off my lawn.

  • X-Factor has definitely been great again. My favorite X-book. It lost it's appeal when it was going through the crossovers IMO.

  • Very true. I originally dropped it during Messiah Complex.

  • Well crap, now I have to go back to the comic shop & buy Wolverine Noir. I had skipped it, haha!
