The NFL should totally replace the 225lb bench test with a deep push-up stretch. What do you guys think? Ready to watch some skinny treehuggers on ESPN? But hey, at least they're flexible.
yoga does have it's place in a powerlifting program, but to renounce barbells as a means to gain strength is ridiculous I use begginer yoga as a warmup, but Yoga wil not increase strength or power better than strength training with a barbell.
@adarqui i know white guys that can jump like that too with no weight training, no yoga, or anything... infact i think they do p90x... moral of the story your "insane" jumping skills = not impressive
sounds like someones yoga speedo got bunched up during the crouching tiger hidden dragon move... lighten up... it was a fun video to watch.... STRETCH it out homie. j
That took more guts then probably any other video I have seen you do lol. They did not say anything to you? They did not even make small talk, like "welcome to the class" kinda stuff? I would have a least thought they would have said something about the camera.
your face during this is priceless!! i'm glad you took it for the team and did this, that way it will dispel any arguments that it is worth the time. your "concentration" face is hilarious...... and perfect time to break out the speedo action (laughed so hard).

@nugg416 ????? why the sarcasm? elite athletes like myself cannot gain easily on squat, we are already peaked out.. i didn't even squat during my two years of bikram yoga and it went from 515 lb @ 145 lb bodyweight ATG to 565 @ 145.
@adarqui Where is the this infamous 565 squat? Something that impressive you would think you might have gotten it on tape. Dont try to fool anyone. The vid of you struggling to half squat 285x5 is enough evidence.
@bigredkid3 : That's not me in those videos, that is my nephew who refuses to utilize the iso extreme methodology because he's too weak mentality to pull himself into a position while focusing on sport mastery for 5 minutes.
His half squat is 325 x 5 @ 150, at least get your facts straight.
If he were to train directly under me I would radically change his training for the better, but most people simply cannot hang with elite level methodologies.
@adarqui Well, it would be easy to get facts straight if it was you in the vids and not someone else. Do you have any vids of your so called Eliteness?
@adarqui Well, its hard to prove that you are the one in the vid. If it is you, then you were definitely a special athlete. I googled the name and I watched other vids of "you" on espn. You dont come across as the same guy. Its hard to believe you are a white guy with some gold teeth who was raised in the projects. I might be wrong and you might be Casey Combest, but I guess we will never know.
@adarqui really?? 515 @ 145 A2G to 565 @145 A2G.... well then where would this video be?? the only squat videos of yours are a 225x20 (not even parallel) and a 285x1 (barely parallel) those were added Jan 19 and Mar 27 of 2009... so roughly 2 years ago.... @ 165 and 175 respectively.... when did you squat 515 after dropping 30 pounds?? i would like to see the video. or the federation's website were you competed to verify... if not then your argument is invalid. End of story.
@ExtremeMetalMike : The squat was performed in front of various lifters and coaches in an Eastern Bloc training hall, I have many eye witness accounts.
@adarqui Ahahahha, your jig is up. You're just a pasty dork with facial hair resembling my pubes. Man the fuck up, learn from your mistakes and stop trying to rationalize them.
@adarqui If I'm trying to increase someones squat, I'll probably implement the same training the strongest people in the world do instead of yoga...the only value I got out of it was breathing techniques and maybe a higher bridge for my bench (both of which any powerlifter can teach). By the way, 50 lbs. can be added to many of your lifts if you correct your form. The great thing about this is that you can do this in 1 day instead of 2 years. Give it a try playa...
@GoEliteSC : well then you and I differ in our definition of "strongest people in the world".. i side with the most flexible people in the world, ie bikram yoga trainees.. most of the world's fastest and highest jumping athletes in the world utilize yoga & yoga alone. Go ahead and make fun of my art, go ahead and mindlessly lift barbells which only increases injury and destroys your joints, i'll stick to what really works for real athletes - yoga.
@adarqui you need to realize that yoga does have its benefits (breathing, flexibility, sport psychology, etc.), however don't be so close minded as to think that increasing power output and maximal strength (both key components of increasing linear speed and verticals for power athletes) can be built more efficiently with yoga than powerlifting. That's simply not true....Take the combine prep courses for example. How many of them implement yoga to enhance there vertical, broad or bench?
@GoEliteSC rubbish. countless studies have shown yoga increases max strength, explosive strength, reactive strength, and thus max RFD. yoga is said to activate beta-gamma receptors and increase neural drive. The flexibility improvements from yoga alone are enough to cause better length/tension relationships and improve dismayed firing patterns & increase muscle activation.
one of the biggest benefits of yoga is joint stiffness, thus eccentric RFD & improvements in the SEC.
@GoEliteSC (continued) Bottom line, you do not have in the least, a microscopic portion of a clue on this issue. Might I refer you to Jay Schroeder's iso extreme method? 5 minute iso's, basically a form of long duration isometric yoga poses, used while pulling yourself into position to create maximal velocity contractions and the greatest levels of eccentric strengthening. Coupling times decrease an average of .15 seconds during CMJ. Adam archuletta used this method to become the best NFL db.bye
@adarqui You win...Yoga is the best way to develop a finely tuned power athlete such as yourself....What a joke! Good to see you can regurgitate information from a well respected trainer that would disagree with you in this matter! Is yoga useful for athletes? Yes. Is it the only thing median that should be implemented? Hell no! One more thing...Archuleta is no longer in the NFL...perhaps he should quit the yoga only approach your advising.
@GoEliteSC LMFAO AT REGURGITATE INFORMATION FROM A WELL RESPECTED TRAINER, do you have any idea who you are speaking with? I earned Master of Sport with top honors under Dr. Yessis in the USSR 30 some odd years ago. Archuletta has been and always will be the single most impressive athlete to ever enter the NFL. You might want to educate yourself on some of these issues before you go spouting off at the mouth. You seem to know nothing about the process of achieving sports mastery.
@adarqui hate to burst your bubble bro, but the eastern bloc that Dr. Yessis taught had foundations in what I explained earlier. If you are so brilliant, strong and awesome, then why don't you and all of your infinite wisdom unseed the top Strength and Conditioning coaches of today with your YOGA approach...And while you're at it, please video it. I think we'd all like to see that.
@GoEliteSC Excuse me? I've already unseeded the top strength coaches with my modified bikram yoga iso extreme ideologies + ARP ems stim. Feel free to come train with me any time and i'll add 6 inches to your vert instantly as a show of proof.
@adarqui I'll tell you what, You send a video response with a periodized program for me to implement on myself and I will give it my best effort. I'll measure my 40, my vertical, my broad, my squat, and my bench...then I'll renounce everything I've said before. Seriously bro.
My current numbers are 4.7 40, 9'11 broad, 38" vertical, 715 squat (not half squat either), and 455 bench...Oh yea, i have the video to back it up...
@GoEliteSC : Show me first that you have what it takes to hold a lunge or BSS extreme iso for 5 minutes straight and then I will privately message you one of my programs. That is all. Your stats are somewhat ok but they could be so much better using more effective means.

@GoEliteSC : search "iso extreme lunge", the video by tommyjohn will suffice, and that's just the beginner progression. If you are feeling tough, elevate the back leg some so you can get lower towards the CJC.
If you get to 5 minutes in a row I will privately message you templates from my training system.
@GoEliteSC (continued) how long have you held a ghr, BSS, pushup, or pullup at the CJC for? Now how long have you "pulled yourself into position for", in those movements? I have worked up to over 10 minutes straight of pulling myself into position for those movements, when you can do that beefcake, then I may allow you to insult bikram yoga or Jay Schroeder, but then you wouldn't be insulting them now would you, because you'd realize barbells are useless and that I am correct.
