  • I just use it on damp hair and it works great for me.

  • dam u sex

  • I could see at the end of the video when you were taking your hair down that you weren't pleased with the results. Even though the video was sped up I could see it on your face. Thanks for your vids you and a few others are my motivation. Your hair is so beautiful. Thanks for sharing with us.

  • I like the lock & twist gel at first I didn't but I use it in conjunction with the instant activator gold by softsheen Carson and curl activator gel with aloe Vera by smoothn shine all purchased at family dollar! Now I prefer eco styler olive oil gel but I ran out! Try it nd let me know what you think!

  • I absolutely love this product. I've used this product for about 6 years now and never had an issue. I hope you have better times with it in the future.

  • Hi Everyone! I need help concerning the roots. How can I maintain the roots of my hair soft and 'wet' ? what products are necessary?! thank you!

  • I love that product for twist outs. I melt Shea Butter pour it in then freeze the product stirring every 20-30 minutes. After it set then I added olive oil. After all this another container is needed because it's more than the original packaging can hold. I was a broke college student when I discovered this product so it being cheap caught my attention and I already had the other products on hand. Just a suggestion

  • Makeup tutorial please!!!!

  • When i used organic lock and twist i use it for my wet set on small twists all over. I like it because it wsa shiny and not greasey. I have never used it for large wet set twists. Maybe try it on a smaller twists set. good job.

  • Pretty flat twist out! I've never done a flat twist on my hair. Will try it. Thanks for the demo.

  • i find your videos very helpful i have just started doing twists/twist outs and i love your styles

  • i use it with mixed chicks conditioner

  • It seems like you and I love the color purple. The comb, tie head and robe. Lol

  • Comment removed

  • Perhaps try the ORS Twist & Loc gel with a moisturizing product underneath. I've tried that with sucess!

  • How many flat twists did you do?

  • I do not like this product either... It leaves my hair not feeling dry but just WEIRD... I love their line but this particular one not so much....

  • I used it in my flexirod set (suggestion from Kairox146) and I love it! Try it that way and see if it's just not a product that does well without heat.

  • Thanx because I was going to try it. Do you use the Eco for most of your holding styles?

  • I'm having the same problem with the prodoct and was ready to toss it but I figure i'd give it another try wit my shea butter mixture. Thanks guys for the advice even if it wasnt for me lol

  • I use ORS Loc and Twist gel on top of my Giovanni Direct Leave In as well and my hair always comes out soft and moisturized.

  • Hello: I've recently subscribed to your channel. I like your channel bc you're not on the band wagon of all natural products are a must for natural hair. Your hair is so healthy and beautiful. I've looked thru a few of your videos to see the beginning of your journey to where your are now....and all I can say is WOW!! I'm not an expert, but maybe the direct leave didn't mix well with the products as it tends to be drying if use alone. I have to add an oil with it to get good results.

  • i love this product. after shampoo/condition, i use coconut oil first, then my shea moisture curl/style milk, and then the gel over that, but not a lot. i use it when i do my curly twist outs. once it's dry, it doesn't feel crunchy or hard at all. maybe you used too much??

  • I usually mix it with a leave in conditioner and sometimes two teaspoons of coconut oil. It leaves my hair soft and it really does hold well for me.

  • Hi Kerry, I just noticed you said it made you hair feel dry and crunchy, perhaps you could have tried appyling some of your shea moisture to go underneath the gel, being that even though it is creamy like texture it's still a gel right? Maybe you could give it a fourth go to be absolutely positively done with it lol :-) Im just thinking out loud here..As always you're my hairspiration as a fellow youtuber said before..Blessed always girlie ~_~

  • Sorry you didn't like it. :-( My fist year natural (I already had about 1 year worth of natural hair at that point) I used it for twists and coily twist-outs the whole year, maybe even more. It definitely had a firm hold, and this was before I knew about separating the hair to achieve a fluffy twist out.

  • good for twists. feels alot like water though and I have to be quite liberal with the product but i like that its affordable and does not leave a buildup at all after reapplication on my edges day after day.

  • I usually put an oil on first before using this product and my hair comes out soft with a nice hold.

  • I also use this product....but I recommend beeswax cream instead I love the way that feels on my hair

  • Yep, I didn't like it either. Glad I saw your video as I was tempted to try it again thinking I did something wrong. Your hair looks great though!

  • Thank you for your honesty. Three tries is more than fair!

  • Me no like this product either :(

  • where do you get the olive oil from?

  • i didnt like it much either!

  • Keri, I love the ORS: Lock and Twist Gel. I always use the gel on wet/damp hair. I usually use the gel with Cantu Shea Butter Leave-In Conditioner and Repair Cream; it makes a wonderful combo. I've also used it with Shea Moisture's Hair Smoothie, which was alright. When using either leave-in/moisturizer, I use extra virgin coconut oil or Kemi Oyl to seal. My hair has never felt dry with this product. I hope you find a way to make it work for you, hun!

  • @PearlfectJourney I use the same combination and it leaves my course 4b/c hair feeling extremely soft!

  • ur hair came out pretty anyway:)

  • I use this product with the shea moisture masque on top and it comes out soft and shiny...i know thats supposed to be a deep treatment but i dont like it for that purpose lol

  • This product works well, mixed with raw shea butter. Hope that helps!

  • same here!

  • Ur hair looks fab and has grown so much

  • I agree. I didn't like this product at all. I do like ORS Smoothing Pudding (green label) for my twist outs. Have you ever tried it?

  • Thanks for the Review!! Your hair and make up looks amazing!

  • The style was hella cute but I agree, this product makes my hair feel like straw. Hated it!!! Lol

  • I do the same as others in that I use my shea butter mix under the ORS gel. I also do that when I use the Eco gel, and that stops the drying in my case.

  • Wow! Kerry! Your hair really grew! :D

  • This is my favorite product for a twist out but I apply a leave in conditioner, then my shea butter mixture on my entire head. Then I use the gel on each section I'm twisting. I don't have any dryness and my hair is nice and shiny.

  • I've found that after my leave-in I have to use an oil, then a moisturizer. What that product you would have been please with the results on top of a good moisturizer!! Great results!!

  • Hey thanks for the review. I use this product only for when i am wearing twists for a while. I just use my shea butter mixture with it and it keeps it pretty moisturized. I have never done a twist out with it, so thats probably where the dryness comes in. But your hair and the styles you post are awsome, so thanks for all your vids.

  • The results were gorgeous, but you could tell something wasn't quite right from the expressions on your face...LOL! Thanks for the honest review!

  • Kerry, the results are GORGEOUS!!

Wow, I wish my hair would turn out that nice after a twist-out!!

  • your hair turned out cute queen...maybe if you put the oil on before using the ORS...or maybe you should just stay with your staple products they always seem to work for you....thanks for sharing

  • Your hair looked great! I have yet to master flat twisting as well but I do like the results. I think I need to take bigger sections like you did to get the fullness. Just feels weird to have them be so big. I like the gel because it IS a soft hold. I use SM Curl Enhancing Smoothie under it and don't notice any dryness at all.

  • Love the look on you.

  • I can't remember the last time I used that particular gel. However when I did use it, I placed a hair moisturizer before I place the gel on it. That gel makes my hair too hard.

  • Hi, I experienced the same thing with my hair even if the hold is cool for my locks I just had a dry scalp and it dried it so bad that I had dandruff. Then, someone recommended that I used jojoba oil with it and I have to admit that the combination was not bad at all but stil. This product on its own is not that great. I do not like it on my hair.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • Hair looks great, sorry it wasn't what you wanted (the dryness).

  • Ur hair was really cute though. Hmm? This is my go to product for my twist outs. I put in my leavein. Then olive oil. Then the ORS. It always has a somewhat firm hold but not drying at all. Goodluck doll..

  • What is your hair type?

  • Happy birthday girl! Ive used this product 3 times each time with shea butter or veg glycerin underneath with good results for my twist outs. I love your videos very helpfull to me on my natural journey.

  • u mentioned the giovanni direct leave-in, is it one of ur staples? doe sit moisturize ur hair well? what u think about it in the long term? i just tried it for the first time, i like it a lot but i don't know if it really moisturizes, i have yet to sleep over to see

  • Try mixing the ORS Twist and Loc gel with 100% Aloe Vera Gel. It will make it so much more moisturizing while keeping the hold.

  • Happy Birthday Girl!

  • Thanks for sharing. I love your videos and can't wait for my hair to get your length.

  • I have only used this when doing twists with extensions, and I didn't like it then either so I'm not even going to bother using it on my actual hair! But still your hair looks beautiful

  • I used to use this to twist my fro before my healthy hair journey and was fine with it. When I found out abt mineral oil I was reluctant to use it but did anyway. dry hair! I kno why now and threw it out

  • I did a braidout using it and used the Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie under it and it made my hair a lot softer

  • Well your hair looks nice 8^|

  • There so much you could use with it with but I guess some products are not for some. I Sometimes use some shea butter or coconut oil underneath it I found it works, it seems to work wonders on freshly washed hair if a good moisturizing leave in is used under it but thats just my experience with it. Oh and the ORS carrot oil them two together, wow!

  • Girl I understand because that's how I feel about Shea Moisture products. My hair hates that stuff! I don't know what ingredient it is but my hair says Hell No!!!

  • Hey Girl....I'm sitting here w/my mouth open b/c I love it. :) I compare it to Murray's Loc Loc Gel. Whenever I twist my hair I always use a butter & a gel. I put on my Shea Moisture leave in, then I add my AfroVeda Curl Define butter & a gel of my choice. It always comes out soft & defined for me. Try the Murray's Loc Loc & see how you like that one.

  • I agree I really did not like it! My hair was actually super greasy and "producty". I gave it 3 tries and it was a disaster each time...never again!

  • **** Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. I appreciate it! ****

  • Like you, I used this product three times. I finally used it with Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie and the results where good. Mind you,my twists had been in for two days. I think after a day, the twists would have been okay. This is not a go to product for me personally.

  • Looking good sweetie Thanks for sharing with us

  • Eventhough the product did not work for you, your hair looks awsome

  • Hey there, what product do you use when you twist your hair? Your hair is getting so long it looks beautiful.

  • I think it still came out cute.. My mom has actually used this on her twist and she said the same thing that it just made her hair feel funny she doesn't like it either... Your hair is really growing....

  • How long have you been natural? your hair is beautiful!

  • I feel you this stuff aint right.

  • i love this product i usually use it with castor oil and it comes out really nice moisturized and shiny lol. I found that castor oil is a thick oil that works better than olive oil to lock in moisture and great for defining without gel. Good luck

  • it continually flaked in my hair and was on the drier end of things. I still have it from last year in case it finally works for me, lol.

  • your hair is getting longer

    I love it

  • Try organic root stimulator's sooth and hold pudding it has a soft hold that keeps the hair pattern of any style defined and shiny

  • I love how you wear your scarves pls do a tutorial thx

  • It was very drying on my twists as well, but I do tend to have moisture issues...Overall I wasn't impressed either.

  • It actually came out so pretty.

Your, "naw, this ain't workin" facial expression at the end was pricless!!!

    LoLoL!!!

Thanks for ALWAYS being so honest.

  • Did the olive oil make it softer?

  • I have never used this for a twist out, i guess i never thought about it, i have only used for my tiny twist and it seemed to work pretty good, sorry it didn't work for you.

  • I don't like it either. The consistency in the jar turned me off!

  • Your hair looks great! I use this product for my twist outs but I apply a leave in conditioner and castor oil before the gel which prevents dryness but maintains the curl definition.

  • your hair was still slamming but i feel ya on not liking a product..I had a bad last week using a different product to twist my hair

  • Hey Hon! When I use the ORS, I add Carol's daughter healthy hair butter to my section. The next day my twist are defined without the cruch hard feeling... I love all the VIDS you make. Your hair has grown sooooooo much and I love love love it.

  • Love your hair and makeup in this vid!

  • i hate it too

  • Since you've been natural have you trimmed your hair? if so how often and do you get a lot of knots in your hair?

  • I like the way your hair turned out. I have it, but I haven't used in my hair since was transitioning.

  • Hey sis, put your leave in and the olive oil underneath the lock and twist gel and

consider using a little care free curl moisturizer along with your current products next time to add more softness. Less is more with this product. Hair turned out beautiful.

  • I used this product when I twisted my TWA. I no longer use it, but it was ok at the time. :)

  • I am<<excuse the typo..huggsss

  • Your hair turned out so pretty!! Thanks for sharing the knowledge...I newly Natural..I did my BC Sep 5,2011 and My last perm was Jan 5,2011..So I am learning a lot from your vid's..I love them all my sistah..It's a blessing to have people like you to share what works for you and to make clear what works for one may not work for the another...Keep up the good work..I am already a product junkie and I want be buying this one..because my hair is already dry enough..Be Blessed!!

  • I agree, I hated it! It did nothing for my hair!!!

  • Your hair is really going!! I can't wait to get some length so I can try some of your hair styles. You're very pretty. Thanks for the vid ;)

  • I love your makeup in the beginning of the video. Can you plz do a tutorial on it?

  • I apply shea moisture curl & style milk first and than I twist my hair with the lock and twist gel that helps with moisture and softness. i hope that helped.

  • I mix it with oil which makes it less drying but I still rather use something else.

  • I feel you on the dryness. I tried this product just as you have and felt the same way. I recently revisited the product and had different results. I'm now in love with the product. Here's a suggestion, after washing and detangling, try kimmaytubes leave in recipe, then apply another moisturizer, I used Jane Carters Nourish and Shine mixed with Jojoba oil in a small section, then dipped my rat tail comb in the gel and combed the section that was to be braided. Twist hair, air dry,.

  • I like the hair style.

  • im use this product and it is great!!! your hair does not look dry at all. like you said you just do not like it.

  • Thank you soooo much for your honesty in your product review. Nothing annoys me more than someone who does product reviews but mysteriously "loves" every product they review.

  • I feel that the entire line is a little drying on the hair. Currently, I use the conditioner as a shampoo in order to "strip" my hair of oils. To me, its like a shampoo but without the suds. I agree with you girl, my hair almost went into shock after trying this line and this is in comparison to Shea Moisture which otehrs have considered drying as well.

  • I've used it many times, love it. But I usually do small - medium twists.

  • I'm with you. It just doesn't work for me either.

  • I use the lock and twist gel and actually like it. However I have never used it with just a moisturizer. I use a Shea butter and coconut oil mix on it first and then add the gel. Yes my twists are slightly firm when they dry but not like using Eco styler clear. Once I take them down I have soft hair with enough hold for my very humid climate. Sorry to hear u didn't like it, but thanks for the review! :-)

  • Your hair looks great!!!

  • Never tried it! but from outside looking in...results look great!

  • It left my hair feeling hard too! Even when I would wear my two strand twists I didn't like my hair to feeling like concrete so I gave it to my aunt lol

  • hey even though you didn't like the product the twist out looked amazing! :)

  • @SimplYounique I think I use too much and dont properly distribute it. I should try doing it in sections...maybe that will help.

  • I personally ONLY prefer organic root stimulator's olive oil cream and their hair mayo for deep conditioners. I remember using their carrot cream back in the day when I wore braids and didnt have any complaints...IDK how I'd feel about it today though. But I DO use their olivie oil cream and the hair mayo HEAVY.

  • I tried this product as well..more than once with the same results dry and brittle feeling hair. I put it under the sink in the, oh well section!

  • i like..kinda..i mean i only use it if im adding singles in my hair just so the synthetic hair doesnt slip and holds.but thats all i use it for

  • How do you know if the product works? if you use other products with the gel...I hope you don't mind me saying. I would of like to see you do the review using the 'Organic Root Stimulator Lock & Twist Gel' Product only this would be a true review of the product if it works...

  • The G leave in may not work with the twist and lock gel. I used the g leave in with another product and my hair felt hard and dry.

  • I love how your hair turned out and your hair is beautiful wet or dry!

  • OMG! I just bought this product on friday to try it!!

  • I love your hair videos, can not wait until I get enough hair to try the ones I love. I think you are very pretty. Keep up the good work, you inspire me.

  • @1mrushin

    Thank you <3

  • my son uses it for his locs. He loves it! Have you tried you flax seed oil/gel with it?

  • Hey StormyHair,

No, I haven't tried flax seed gel.

  • @SimplYounique i didnt like it at the first three times i used it but i apply it the exact same way you do put i put the olive oil on first anda small amount of the root stimulator on the roots and work down to the ends.. i only us it with two strand twist or small flat twist and i have to sit under the dryer. after completely dry its nice.

  • not on super wet hair 60% dry.

  • Your hair is so luscious and healthy:) I've been trying a few braidouts/twistouts but when I take down my hair the next morning my hair is still damp:( When you do you braidouts, when do you braid you hair in order for it to be dry the next day?

  • @1helluvawomen

I don't do it on soaking wet hair anymore. Now I make sure my hair is slightly damp, then I braid or twist my hair to ensure it dries the next morning.

  • I love this product! I mixed it with honey and it made my hair feel amazing!

  • When using this product I put Olive oil on my hair first then I apply the product. Try it to see how it works on your hair.

  • I used this product during my twa days...it worked great. & my hair came out oily not dry at all.

  • Well at least your hair looked good on camera!

  • I loveeee your hair!!

  • Thanks for the honest review!! Your hair look great girl. Everythign is not for everybody, you know? That is the reality of the situation. You gave it a good try though. At least you didn't come on here bashing a product you only tried once. I've never tried it, but I enjoyed the review.

  • Hey toyaboo2. Thanks girl

  • I don't really care for it either. Just sitting on the shelf in my bathroom. The funniest part it that half smirk you have on your face at the end of the video. Pretty clear you don't like it, although the style came out nicely.

  • how do i not flat twist and get the same wave?? lol, It's my 1 year natural anniversary by the way!!! :D

  • @bubblejaz23

Congrats on being 1 year natural. You can try a braid out or a loose bantu knot out. :-)

  • I used it when I was transitioning..but I really dont like it on my natural hair...yes you hair does feel dry.

  • Hey Girl! Your hair is getting so LOOONg! I love it! its Beautiful!

  • @Ahsao

    Thank you :-)

  • I have this. Haven't used it in over a year since I was transitioning. I should revisit or give it away.

  • @secretsandlies09

If you try it again, let me know how it works out.

  • to me the smell reminds me of coconut...

  • @mrztweetbeak

Really?? I didn't think it smelled like coconut..

  • I've tried the product too and it had my hair feeling hard and I like for my hair to feel soft.

  • I've been using that product for yearsss & i love it for my twists. I dont think its really meant for twist-outs... hence the name loc & twist gel...

  • Hi BeautifulTresses20,

I'm glad it worked out for you. Even before taking out my twists my hair felt dry. It's just one of those products where you either love it or hate it.

  • This product really twist my hair. I love it.

  • Hey 09Sharpe,

I'm glad it worked out for you. Some have been saying they like it and others hate it. I guess it just depends on the individual.

  • my hair loves it. try usng it without all the other products u used befre applyin it

  • @maybelline45

I only had my leave-in conditioner on my hair before applying it. I guess this product is just not for me.

  • @SimplYounique try putting an oil over your leave in since its a gel you need more moisture under

  • @SimplYounique I don't think it mixes well with the Giovanni Direct Leave-In. The product worked great for my hair, I used it to set my twists for protective styling. It had a firm hold that went away after a day or 2. Try maybe using it after a good deep condition and a little oil to seal in your moisture.

  • @Tauries81 The Smooth-N-Hold Pudding might work better for this type of styling.

  • @SimplYounique Try using the product w/o the leave in under it. This product may not "play" well w/other products.

  • Hey...I use that product to do my husbands hair and we've found that we don't like it either. He trying to loc but it it leaves his hair too soft. I haven't tried it on my hair.I know you don't like the way it makes your hair feel but, your hair looks gorgeous as usual Keri!!!

  • @MzJazzy1Me41

    Thank you :-)

  • yeah I am not a fan of this product either. I don't want to waste it so I use it on my flat twist or protective styles.

  • Hey criskai04. Thanks

  • Did you do a braidout on a blowout with the style in this video?

  • @ahsenerb27

No I didn't.. I show how I achieved this style in the video. :-)

  • I have used this product once. The results were okay. I will try again. Thanks for sharing.

  • @thelasonj

    Thanks for watching

  • Your not the first person who has said it makes their hair feel like straw. A few of my friends said the same thing but they all have dreads so I wasn't sure if it would be the same on just natural hair. I'm still trying to find my "it" products I'm almost 6 months in and om really just starting to look up to now I've been co washing and using ecostyler. Now I have braids. I was even thinking about using ot to help blend my hair when I do kinky twists but dry and protective styling isn't good

  • @MizHoneyB22

Yeah, it can be tough trying to find your staple products.. A youtuber named Tonidaley80 wears braids pretty often and she has a home made concoction that works for her. Check out her channel. I'm not sure of the name of the video where she shows how she makes it.

  • @MissOlah

    Thank you
