I think one of the nastiest toxins to such a discussion has been the tried-and-tested strategy of the religious conflating ideology and race into the same terms so as to easily disarm critics. And I don't say that with some anti-Judaism bias, because you see the Islamists adopt the same strategy with the term 'Islamophobia'.

I didn't take it that way. I read your profile description beforehand and knew that you had some pretty strong convictions. I agree, many Jews equate criticism of Israel with anti-Judaism, when that is not the case at all. I do think that Israel has a right to exist. But since their American big brother/bitch acts similarly, they feel they are free to do as they please. The Palestinians' support for Hamas doesn't really give me any good reason to sympathize with them though.
