@JediKniight1995 Sauron was created by the dark God M____(I forgot how you spell it), sort of like the equivalent of the devil. He is an extremly ancient ancient being.
i was always displeased by the way Sauron seems to die in this. It would have been better if, after Sauron had his fingers cut off, there was a moment where he staggered, during which Gil-galad charged up behind him and ran him through with his spear. Then, as Sauron was dying from the spear sticking through his chest, he could have turned around and grabbed Gil-galad by the neck and throttled him to death... -Then- Sauron could expire from the spear wound and it would seem more "believable."
@colorconnection Well the Ring was what Sauron poured EVERYTHING into. The body was sort of just a shell so Sauron could swing his mace like a boss. The One Ring is what held Sauron in the corporeal plane. I believe that although it would've been a bit more thematic, the director wanted to keep the movies super close to the books.
@charbarbif1 because the 9 rings were given to the kings of men a long time before this battle, by which time those 9 kings had been completely corrupted by the rings and turned into ringwraiths.
"Much that once was, is lost, for none now live who remember it." I can watch these movies a thousand times, but still that sentence gives me the chills each time I listen to it.
I think it was Sauron's arrogance and sense of superiority as a Maiar which cost him the Ring. Humans were nothing before him, and as such, he let down his gaurd, and pow. Sauron got owned.
@manofsan Bleh, that many targets and only pistol level ammo?
One TANK division could rule them all. They'd tear apart everything. HEAT rounds flying through lines of trolls, siege machinery, immune to arrows, too heavy for Nazgul, scare orcs shitless just from the noise, pave the battlefields with "Orc Asphalt" as they cruise around at 48kph
@HyaenusDominae Man, seriously, this is the funniest comment I have ever seen on any YouTube video! Pure gold!!! Thanks for making me laugh so hard! LOL
If Galadriel received a ring of power from the dark lord like the dwarves, and the kings of men, and they were all deceived, then how come Galadriel didn't turn evil?
@Joshie102 They didn't get the Rings from Sauron. They were decieved because Sauron had helped the Elves forging the rings for the Dwarves and Men under disguise, but then returned to Mordor and made the One Ring, which revealed who he truly was. The 3 Elven Rings were made by Celebrimbor alone (an Elf), which made them safe to use. Only the Men became completely under Sauron's control, the Dwarves only became extremely greedy for treasures, and filled with wrath against all who denied them that
@XEgalmothOfGondolinX The Elven Rings were not Safe. Celebrimbor had forged ALL of the rings. When Sauron fist put on the Ruling Ring, the Elves realised they had been betrayed and did not wear them but hid them from him when he came to take the rings. They were only "safe" once Sauron had been defeated and was separated from the One Ring.
@LordTharrion It was only the 3 Elven Rings that Celebrimbor made alone. In the making of the other rings, they're always refered to as being made by the "elven smiths" (might be wrong, but that's how I remember it). And what I meant with safe was to answer the original Q, which was why the Elves didn't turn evil when wearing their Rings: The 3 Elf Rings were the only rings that Sauron didn't help make, which is why his corruptive power wasn't present in them, so the bearers wouldn't turn evil.
@XEgalmothOfGondolinX Reading directly from the Silmarillion it is said that the rings were forged by "elven smilths" but when the 3 are said to be unsullied, it is quite clear in the fact that "the hand of Sauron had never touched them yet they were subject to the One." In the paragraphs preceding it is said the Elves knew what was happening and took them off. Sauron became angry and came to take the rings but the three were hidden. He took the other 16 and gave them to the men and dwarves.
@Joshie102 The Elven rings were made by an Elvish smith called Celebrimbor of Eregion I think the best source of information regarding the back story and history of the ring is the notes Christopher Tolkien wrote that compliment his father's
