  • I didn't know she was the originator of the song I remember when lalah came out with it and thinking this sounds so familiar

  • OMG!!! I didn't even know she wrote and recorded this song 5yrs. before Lalah Hathaway recorded it in '90!!!! I know Jaki got paid big time for this song !!!

  • Beautiful song man, Jaki Graham is the bomb! Thanks for posting this!

  • class act

  • does jaki use the same hairdresser as lou (hulk) ferrigno ?

  • whatever happened to Jakie. Just soooo good. and yes why dont they sing these sort of songs on x factor. mm maybe no one could anymore.?

  • Soul for live music

  • pure talent, how com they dont plug classics like this on the X FACTOR, i guess some good thing's are better left alone...

  • louis irish twins could do it they can do anything right and make it entertaining!! please, x factor not, more like kp factor aka karaoke 'crap' pop factor now :(

  • kp factor i like it lol, cant believe people spend there hard earned cash voting week in week out for that kinda entertainment.

  • Man or woman?

  • totally underated.. Magnificent voice and great talent..

  • can you send me the mp3

  • What such a great talent...

  • one of my all- time faves....remember it well...her first outing......nice one....

  • Not one of my favourite Jaki graham songs, but still enjoyable to watch and listen to

  • I had no idea Lalah Hathaway was singing a remake.

  • me neither!!! I am bugging

  • Yeah, I agree, 'Rock the Boat' is very similar to this. It definitely has the same feel to it.

Jaki Graham is simply amazing, love her!

  • I've not heard this for donkey years what a beautiful song thanks for posting, as I was listening to this it took be back to a great decade and does anybody see any similarities between this song and Rock the boat by Alliyaa or is it just me old ears playing me up peace y'all

  • It´s her be song!

  • It's a crime that Jaki Graham is not an international super star ! She sings nothing less than great songs, such as this one. Also, her album " DON'T KEEP ME WAITING" was out of this world and should have been nominated as ALBUM OF THE YEAR !

  • Big up fairnorth. One of THE best albums from THE BEST period of music, the 80's. Real happy days listening to this again.

  • Totally agree with, very underrated and such a marvellous voice.

  • Hi! She is international and I know her...I´m from Germany! Ja she isgreat!

  • big up uk.

  • Always loved her tunes. Jaki has such a silky smooth soulful voice, and this track is awesome! Thanks for the post!

  • Jaki Graham's Voice is pure SOUL!

She is Number One UK Brit Soul Diva!

    Great Classic!

  • Always note that this song was co performed / produced by Derek Brambel (Heatwave fame) / from Slough (now co-producing with American Idol)

  • Tune!

Have not heard this since my school days.

    Thanks for posting

  • Twenty-something years on, this is such an underrated song and she's still not appreciated for the talent she showed. It's a UK soul classic which broke through, but Jaki Graham never got the further push that the mainstream acts got. But she had the voice and the feeling which only a very few soul singers have. Top, top quality. Great posting. 5*****

  • I totally agree with you, Jaki had everything but never received the recognition she deserves. Back in the day when music mean't something too

  • im afraid in my own opinion that jakis version knocks spots of anyother version ive heard she really makes it her own song

  • Great post - takes me back to my school days in East London :)

  • Interesting. I had never heard this version or knew it was a remake. I liked Lalahs but I actually like this one better. I like the smooth groove of this one. Lala's is good but it's a lil jack for me. Thanks for sharing.

  • Lalah's version is a cover of Jaki Graham's Version Both of which were written & produced by Derek Bramble (Derek B). I prefer Jaki Graham's version, it's more soulful. Lalah's version is a bit too poppy for me.

  • ur opinion mate! i love them both

  • I agree...I never heard this version before until today. This is great! I like both, but this one I can groove too...lol

  • REAL R&B IT IS JUST POP NOW.

  • I disagree with the age barrier, Lionel Richie, Stevie wonder, etc show age is no barrier, as long as the artist as talent then age is no barrier

  • And she probably still looks better than Lionel Richie ^^

  • Lala Hattaway? good? This girl is awesome

  • if we didnt live in such an agist country where most singers over 20 are thought of as passed it and listened to quality instead of the shallowness its all become she should by all rights be a legend - fab song with a slight Kenny G slant

  • I remember hearing this and not believeing that this girl was british. JAKI IS THE UKS JEAN CARNE

  • just split from my girl.....my word....and sitting crying listerning to jaki!!!!!!!

she eased my mind and set me free....nikki i love you come homne....xxxxx

  • This song was re-done in the 90's by an r & b group. Does anyone know which group it was? Soul4Real? ..???

  • All I know is that Layla Hathaway (the late Donnie Hathaway's daughter) remade this and it became a huge US Urban smash took it to #2! I wonder who wrote this song, really. The remade version is missing that jazz flavour, otherwise it is indeed a classic. I have never heard this version until now.

  • Thank you, the Layla hathaway version was the one I was looking for. A little more upbeat and jazzy. It was cool to see this version too though.

  • SorryI like Jaki very much too but I think her charting chances today are zero.

First:She´s to old in a time were everybody in the business has to look like 20!

Second:R&B lost it´s influence in the charts.

  • Jaki was a very underated singer, maybe not in the Jean Carne league but still a great singer.

  • Gotta love the obligatory 1980's sax solo. Has Jaki ever had a song you didn't love to bits? And props to Derek Bramble, a man of many, many talents.

  • great song indeed

  • wonderful song from a great singer

  • My goodness a wonderful British SOUL singer, where did it all go.

  • one of my old time favorites. thanks a million for posting video. good taste !!!

  • oh my goodness she made this i got to get it

  • oh this is soo good - havent heard this for years - she was so underrated just not fair love that voice it soothes all your anxieties and makes me feel quite sexy which is no mean feat !

  • Where is jaki ? Maybe she should get herself on xfactor as a guest singer.

  • oh Jaki, Jaki where r u?

  • what a great song...

  • hello, does someone have lyrics of this song please? send me a PN

  • Whoa :0 I almost forgot about this song. Lalah's version was always in my head because I bought her first album, but I have to give it to Jaki. She represented that soul from across the pond. Both versions are good, I simply cannot compare the two. It would be disrespectful cause both had that soulful niche and elegance (especially as women) that is missing in todays music.

  • ♪ This ORIGINAL:0) version of " Heaven Knows " is beautiful! I loved it in the 80's...♪♪

  • Yes, one of her best. Glad to see it back on YT. Thank you!

  • The Lalah Hathaway version is better! This one is ok

  • No it's not!

  • Lalah's version is more soulful and updated...but i like this as well. Very intimate version.

  • ♪ AFRICANBRO! There both good! Jaki Graham, is U.K flavour.. ( originator ) personified! ♪...

  • Didnt lalah hathaway remake this in 1989?

  • One of my fave songs of all time - release in 1985 and didnt do that well - probably a abit ahead of its time - worth a few listens guys! Love the hair Jaki! xx
