Don't mind the negative comments. Although your interpretation is missing some of the original's spectacular and passionate moves, I applaud your love for Filipino culture. Thank you for keeping the Filipino spirit alive! I enjoyed watching this! Bravo!
i know ur doing artistic interpretation...but ur interpretation must be CLOSE to the original...if the masters of the diff folk dances saw ur dances...what will they say to ur group? huh?! im just saying what i see....be prepared to their comments...okay?
i think if we maintain the same attitude in trying to promote and maintain the philippine culture by any means, it should not cause any group for any reason to be upset. for future references to anyone dissecting our work, please understand that we do this in order to help other organizations in trying to do just that.
yes, a lot of our dances are interpretation, yes, we have been accused of "bastardizing" dances, however, PLEASE keep in mind that this is ARTISTIC INTERPRETATION only.
I'm sorry but we never said we owned this dance - this is our artistic expression of Jota Paragua. We never claim to be Ramon Obusan group or Bayanihan. We are Canadians who just want to entertain and enlighten the community thru Arts and keep the culture and roots alive for our 2nd generation Filipino-Canadians.
We can discuss this in our coming workshop. Looking forward to meet all the dancers.
