He's telling her she sings beautifully and invites her to his mansion to sing for him. In a later scene when she arrives at his mansion he gives her wine! Then when she's drunk he puts her in his bed but Unico saves her before anything happens. CREEPY!

The voice actor for Chao (Katy) is Kazuko Sugiyama, who is probably best known as "Heidi" (from the 1974 TV series). Love her performance here!

I have never heard unico in japanese, i remeber watching it when i was little, and when i got older and searched for the movies they are all but impossible to find, i finaly have burns of the movies tho have heard there was a 3rd,m either another sequal or a piolet

I don't remember being scared much by any part of the movie, though I think a certain later scene (where katie almost gets killed but the baron gets destroyed instead) probably was a little or very scary for children. But not this part so much. I usually don't see having Blue hair and Red eyes or looking "ghostlike" as scary. For the people that don't get one of her lines : Yes, she's really a cat/kitten. Unico gave her a human form with his magic.

I think the part of Chao dropping the pail was quite charming. The animation is great!!! I can't stop watching this part over and over - especially when she falls into the water - very significant of a girl falling in love. You don't get that kind of reference in animation these days... I love the background too!!! I'm practicing painting and I am using this one as reference. It's so simple and admirable!
