  • Still missing them after all these years.

  • The other pictures is not carl its brian wilson. Anyway i really love this song.

  • This was a great time just hard to remember

  • Dennis had children who might be able to profit from the release of this album. idk who owns it. I love this music. Thanks for the video. Good collection of pictures.

  • You asked for a comment, so here it is. Sorry about his passing but this music is marginal.

  • @andaloudog marginal my ass, go back to listening nirvana

  • Comment removed

  • The Beach Boys really were the Wilson's. No Wilson - no real Beach Boys and he was the REAL Beach Boy. His music developed - and did it ever. Forever, alright, is a beauty. Glad that this (POB) came out finally.

  • My god. My heart melts hearing this man sing this song. This should have been a hit! This man's ability was very underrated and we didn't get the priveledge to hear it for that long. Miss him so much! His death still is a mystery to me.

  • FOREVER will there be THOUGHTS OF YOU dennis wilson. you are amazing, you inspire me for everything I do in life, hope to be able to have a conversation with you one day.

  • dennis i miss you man u were the beach boys man rip dennis

  • Dennis will always be a beautiful person.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • this song is amazing

  • God bless you dennis...miss you forever

  • 200-300? Im made me want to gouge out my ears.

  • There is a DVD that was just out about the Beach Boys. It's produced by Billy Hinsche and it's called 1974 on tour with the Beach Boys. There's a lot of behind the scenes action of Carl and Dennis, but mainly Dennis. You can look up the trailer here on You Tube. Check it out.

  • I think this is one of the greatest albums of all time

  • @TheKunig indeed!

  • I love Dennis....so much I wrote a song about the man and I have a story to tell....go to SydbarF channel and see.

  • ah ok, thank you :) beautiful song

  • whats the name of this song?

  • Thoughts of You.

  • My family And myself was having dinner at marina del ray the night dennis died

we saw all the emergency vehicles . a night i will never forget.

    god bless the beach boys

    Dennis will never be forgoten

  • This song is so beautiful & cathartic.. It's point of Love is so vulnerable & admirable, it's beyond words or thoughts. It's timeless, as is love. Love is the most powerful thing in all creation ; Dennis has touched that place within the hearts of us all. God Bless you Dennis. We Love you. We'll see you down the road again. For Love is Eternal, as are we all...*

  • Got this cd from Amazon, because I could not find it in Italian record shops or catalogues. I treasure "thoughts of you" as one of the most meaningful, corageus, and beautiful songs of the last 50 years. Great talent, great heart. Hugs to all of you, if you are here to listen, it means that you care. So long.

  • unsung genius...from denny's drums to this...amazing...

surfing in eternity... unfortunately denny and brian are both unsung in their own way....god bless america's most misunderstood group...

    god bless denny...and carl...

  • it's available everywhere since last year, as far as i'm concerned It's the deepest record by a beach boy gone solo

  • This album is the deepest of any "Wilson bros" stuff, in my opinion. Anyone spitting a "drunk loser" wad on this must either not like any of the beach boys, be too young or too into current sounds to know that there is other stuff out there, or has some f^@$#% up dennis wilson hatred going on that they feel the need to barf up on any board related to the man.

Great album, and in my opinion, best of the "boys", keep rockin in heaven Dennis, I'll buy you a beer when I get there.

  • To usawhat; yes he was a drunk, so what? He was a great musician and a human beeing. He was not and nobody is a drunk because they want to. What is your problem? Intolerance?

  • I loved him. Hey bud, wait for me. I'll buy ya a picher of beer and we'll have a few good laughs!!!!

  • tjba cant even type...LOL. go screw off and get off this amazing song/video.

  • Those who think Dennis had no songwriting talent are wrong. When your brother is Brian Wilson (the greatest musical genius of his era) there isn't much contributing needed. When Dennis put out his own two solo albums he really showed what he was capable of.

  • melancholy

  • All of us are somthing.

  • yeah man he had it made. he had a father that beat the shit out of him, a brother who lost his mind, he felt awful for what the MANSON family did that tainted his family image... he was a human being with problems who had a bad accident and drowned.. how was he a loser? i just dont get it... these brothers had more talent in their pinky than most of us see in a lifetime. amazing ability to touch the lives of others... RIP Denny, everyone who is sane misses you and Carl.

  • Just because one becomes successful does not mean that they will not have problems, make bad choices, be happy, etc. Only those who have made money though can appreciate this because when you're struggling financially you think that being rich solves everything....

  • not an amazing voice, but fucking amazing songwriter.

  • His voice WAS amazing until he ruined it with booze and drugs. Very sad story.

  • WHAT? He was the most soulful singer ever...absolutely amazing

  • Beautiful

  • Yes, Mike is a scumbag for the way he treated Brian and his jealousy of Dennis.

  • You said it. I would not cross the street to see Mike Love but Brian is great and Dennis was wonderful. Rest in peace.

  • Incredible, pained voice.

The first JFK Jr look-alike, which really matters not.

    Beautiful, talented, sad, gone.

    God rest you, Dennis.

  • Why no Answers on what happened to Denny's Kid's????

  • two of the older boys have or had a band. can't remember the name of the band. try looking it up on wilkapedia. good luck.

    debbie

  • His son Michael has a restaurant in Santa Monica. Or he's the head chef. I can't remember. They are doing well though.

  • this song is RAD!

  • In case people aren't aware, this album (plus the Bamboo tracks) was re-issued in June.

  • My DW Top 5: Cuddle Up, Thoughts Of You, Wouldn't It Be Nice To Live Again, Time, Only With You.

    What's your's?

  • my top 5 are 5: cuddle up, 4: all alone, 3: Only With You, 2: Moonshine, 1: Forever

  • River Song, Only With You, Forever, Lady, Holy Man

  • may he rest in peacce, he was agreat artist. I am glad having his pacific ocean blue cd, but I am sad that something brilliant like this costs so much :(

  • Yeah great photos

  • Thanks for a nice photo montage.

    {Click BB45s for rare Beach Boys & rock video playlists}

  • rerelease of POB with bambu too!!! out now or soon depending on where u are i think. hoorah!

  • Wow...such a reply sugarplum. Did you come up with that all by yourself? I'll bet you have speak and spell on your PC...oh wait, no I don't think so. Did you type that out at Moms house or did you use the library computer? You...words can not express you.

  • hey, FUCK YOU! Dennis Wilson was a great and talented man. Watch what you say. and in case you haven't noticed, lots of people at that time had long hair. I bet you description of him fits you better. Go to hell unless you can pull it together. i agree with uncleputz13

  • on 1:35 dennis is really extremely hhhhhhhooooooootttttttttttttttttt!!!!!!!!

  • Denny was every bit as talented as his 2 brothers, he just didn't get the recognition.

POB is a fantastic album and in the same league as Pet Sounds.

Denny might have had a few problems but he was still a damn good singer and drummer. Please don't speak ill of the dead !!

  • Dennis was the less talented brother...he was just a clubber and a sex-symbol,while Brian and Carl had the talent

  • No, Dennis was very talented. Check out the Beach Boys catalog and listen to the songs Dennis contributed, either by writing and/or singing. Then listen to the rerelease of Pacific Ocean Blue/Bambu that will be coming out in June 08. Heck, you don't have to wait that long -- check out the Pacific Ocean Blue videos on this site. Dennis had huge problems, but he had huge talent too. All the Wilson brothers were gifted. Wilsons = Beach Boys.

  • brings a tear to my eyes. Loved him. Loved them. Always will. Timeless. Thanks.

  • Look on Ebay--Pacific Ocean Blue abounds there, for as little as 9.50. I plan on buying one myself. Dennis was a great musician, far too undervalued in his time.

  • well its good to know ,.you have known ,.hope you keep thinking,.all the best

  • Nice tribute, but why the pictures of Brian?

    They aren't really relevant here.

  • Astonishing...who cares if he drank too much, or wasted most of his talent; he was authentic, visceral and always had the propensity to be beautiful; this song sounds like it came from deep deep down, how many of us truly get to go there?

  • well never mind ,.he will get another chance when he gets awaken from death into a much better earth that we all look forward to ,.love you all

  • It's about time you JW'S faced facts: nobody's coming back man. Nobody...

  • Dennis finally kicked the Manson clan out of his house, and beat the crap out of Charles Manson when Manson threatened his family. In terms of "not too bright," his friends say the opposite. And before you comment on the intelligence of others, learn the difference between "aloud" and "allowed."

  • He was such a jerk...though with a great singing voice...watched him drunk on stage in L.A. many times in the 80's...even once puncing his bandmates...and had to be forcfully removed. He had it all, but could not function wtih out 99% vodka in his OJ...broke many hearts on his journy to hell.

  • On his journey to Hell ? Please. He became an aloholic, but he was NOT a jerk.

  • He was definitely a killer drummer.....this song is amazing. Hes definitely missed. I am sad that people of my generation will not get to to appreciate the musical talent that our parents were lucjy enough to hear first hand.

  • A killer drummer indeed...WHEN he was sober...which was rarely. He truly "wasted" his life.

  • How did he die?

  • drowned? or hypothermia.... either way, diving in water outside his boat while intoxicated,,,, such a shame, Dennis was unappreciated

  • thank you my friend

  • Dennis Wilson was awesome. I bought Pacific Ocean Blue album when released. Loved it. Got to live in the So. Cal area from Ohio in 1978.Beach Boys--blondes, surfboards, Malibu. If you didn't experience their magic you just missed out....

  • I forgot to say earlier that the best song he ever wrote (and sang) was " Cuddle Up " and when I saw him sing it live....you could have heard a pin drop....at the DeMontfort Hall in Leicester, 1972.....MAGIC!!!

  • Yo!, they are reissuing this album as a double disc on May 13th, 2008, via epic/Legacy!

  • Please be telling the truth. I have this on Vinyl and cd but would buy a thousand copies and give them out free if I could! It's the best and most under-rated album ever!

  • Denny had one of the most gorgeous voices lost in time! He was an angel!! XXX

  • Google DENNIS WILSON and you will find an article detailing the imminent re-release of PACIFIC OCEAN BLUE. It's about time.

  • That picture of him at 1:00 is brilliant, but not for pleasant reasons. You can see the sorrow in his eyes and the beauty of the man.

And yet Mike Love still tours.

  • I'm a mad Beach Boys fan and I give total props to Brian Wilson, but the talent in the Wilson family did not end there. Denny was a voice waiting to be heard, and even Carl had his moments as a songwriter. Good Stuff.

  • why this beautiful man is dead and paul weller is still alive remains one of lifes' most tragic mysteries.

  • Lol.

  • I don't get this one.....? wanna elaborate?

  • It's an amazing album, and thoughts of you is one of my favourite songs in the whole world, but would have prefered the whole song!

I love dennis, lets hear a studio version of 'I've got a friend'!!!!

  • Wonder if I could get some bucks for my cd.

  • Pop Matters just ran an article on why this Lp is staying unreleased (excuse this if my comments show up more than once; I'm having trouble posting).

I would post a link, but I think this comments section won't let me post links. Anyway, search under Pop Matters and Dennis Wilson and you'll find it.

  • just to let you know: as soon as studio time can be scheduled at the (venue private) this album will be re recorded and re released. I hope the day comes soon

  • Great song Dennis. You and Carl as well as Brian are the essence of the BBs. With you and Carl passing away and Brian going solo, BBs are a cover song band.

  • pardon, but could anyone tell me what this song is called? also.....did anyone know that Brian wilson never heard his brother's solo album??

  • Song called "Thoughts Of You"

Brian very mixed up at that time.

Told some people that he loved the album and others that he'd never heard it.

More likely that he'd heard it but forgot.

  • I have both the original LP (with the foldout) and the CD release when it came out in 1989 for a short time.

  • Me too, markcruiser64! And I bought the cassette from a cut-out bin in '79, and the 8-track at a yard sale in the 90's. Without even trying. Probably would make a great eBay offering someday, but I could never part with my Beach Boys stuff.

  • a truly wonderful album. It was stolen from me. I miss it so much. Dennis touched genius in his music at that time.

  • Nobody should have died..........nobody should have beaten anybody's ass. Dennis's album was magnificient. It was, as was all of the brothers works, a mural of Southern California's South Bay...between 1960 and 1980. I know, I was there. That South Bay no longer exists. It was a glorious and majestical time. I thank God I was there when it all went down. Thanks Dennis, Brian, Carl, Mike and Al. Simply....Thanks.

  • I love this Album Pacific Ocean Blue. They need to rerelease it. Long live Dennis Wilson.

  • i wish denny and carl were still alive

  • Amazing record! amazing!

  • Some of you younger viewers may not know this, but Dennis was in a fantastic movie called Two-laned Blacktop" and it is so low key and great, I'd suggest you watch it more than once!!

  • Wasn't James Taylor in Two-Lane Blacktop, as well?

  • Yes!! You are a pretty smart cookie!!

  • sounds like he really wanted to die

  • greendaise82 no, maybe you're thinking of retard emo kids, Denny was someone who knew how to live and embraced life. Unfortunately life didn't embrace him back when he needed it the most.

  • sry bro, he was miserable cuz he chose to be

can't live a fucked up life as he did.. can, but shouldn't

  • Dennis did NOT want to die. He loved life, but like many of us was extreemly emotional about his passion. Read about him.

  • Wow, this brought tears to my eyes...

  • just beautiful

  • I agree! What a tragic loss! I'm so proud to say I was a friend of BOTH Dennis and Carl's! They're in Heaven, Carl's leading the choir of angel's and Dennis is probably surfin' on the clouds. RIP my dear friends. (tear).

  • I bought the album (yes the LP!) when I was 13 and had just discovered the beach boys, now 22 years ago, and damn, am I happy I did so! It had been released 8 years earlier, and I found it on a sell out shelf in my local record store in Holland, for the equivalent of a buck or so. Needless to say it's one of the most prized pieces in my collection.

One question: what the heck is all that footage of Brian about?

  • Dennis was great ... he gave the BBs nuts! He stood up to Mike Love - & for that reason alone he deserves legendary status. After his death, Mike gave the music world John Stamos ... says it all, really.

I woulda loved to have had a beer with Dennis. I was very young when I heard that he'd died ... this song reminds me of that day. Sad - but nice too. At least he's remembered by many. Thanks for posting this - it's beautiful. Jimbo

  • Dennis wasn't so much into beer as he was entire fifths of vodka. But yeah, definitely a sad loss for the world when he died. He should have beaten Mike Love's ass for the way he treated Brian.

Mike should have died instead of Dennis and Carl.

  • You just revealed yourself to be a complete moron. Sadder that you probably don't even realize it.

  • that post was supposed to be in response to the post by the idiot PoppyHeads below.

  • god bless you dennis

  • Great stuff....straight from the heart(Just like todays

    so-called music) Yeah,...right!!!

  • that was cool, real cool. thanks.

  • I had no idea when I bought the Pacific Ocean Blue CD years ago that it would become so valuable.I've always loved the album and can't believe that no one has reissued it.I believe that it was also issued in the 90's in Japan also.I have Carl Wilson's first solo album from the Japanese issue.

  • Shows you that the powers that be are usually always wrong. How can anyone deny his pure writing talent! His songs were always the standout tracks on the Beach Boys late 60's stuff and all throughout their 70s output. After hearing his stuff, i won't do without it.

  • What emotion. So raw. So intense! Thus, that's what makes up Dennis Wilson. Sadly, not many women can handle a man like him.

  • Best track I've heard in a while !

  • Very touching and moving. This brings tears to my eyes. Such a beautiful soul. Such a beautiful person. Rest in peace, Dennis. We all miss you.

  • Its a truly awesome album- one of my favourites ever. Unless you get totally caught up in a dumb bidding war, though, you can get the original lp for $20-30 on ebay...wouldn't pay silly money for the nineties cd release...

  • Spectacular.

  • My favourite album of all-time. Denny Rules.

  • I found someone selling "Pacific Ocean Blue" for $8+ shipping so I bought it. All the songs are great and love the album inner photos. Get the book "The Real Beach Boy - Dennis Wilson" by Jon Stebbins.

  • I have this book....a great read!!!!

  • Great song, great video. Bamboo is another lost classic from Dennis. It was never completed but the stuff that's there is amazing. Also, pick up the beach boys L.A. Light Album and check out 'Love Surrounds Me' that's a great dennis song and shows where he may have been going musically.

  • Dennis Wilson should have been the Beach Boys' main songwriter in the 70s when Brian didn't want to do it no more.

  • Great video & song, hopefully one day the album will be re-released

  • His voice dripped with emotion, he will always be missed. Nicely done, CD!

  • I bought the album when it first came out and remember a music review that said Dennis can't sing. As a musician, that pissed me off big time. The next beach Boy concert I went to Dennis got up on stage and sang, " You are so beautiful" solo, but this time sober. I think he had a point to prove to that critic. I've heard him sing it a dozen times before but this time his voice would make Michael McDonald step back and take note. Yes, as someone said earlier, read the book.

  • Dennis Wilson was a very talented guy, just like Brian & Carl.

  • A great song an album i own and all ways play great vid.
