I just caught this: When he mentioned about the "FAR EAST" he said "like New York?" But in Mayberry he's in NORTH CAROLINA which is already further easy than New York, isnt it? Doesnt really make any sense.
Thanks for posting this Pilot episode! I have always enjoyed this show! My late Grandfather was a United States Marine in WWI. He never cared for the show and could not stand Gomer Pyle, the Marine, but my Grandfather had the greatest admiration for Frank Sutton and the DI character that he portrayed. He always said that "Sergeant Carter" in the show was very realistic and was just like his Drill Instructors he had at Parris Island way back in 1917. "Sergeant Carter" really impressed him!
just realized, Gomer is the original Forrest Gump!
