Hey thanx for sharing the info in the "more info" section. I used 3 camers in a project. ! HDV & 1 DV and one hand held sony still cam that takes movies(just for effect) I used the scale option to bring the sony cam fully into a 19:9 frame but it's REALLY jumpy - got any tips on how to stabalize the footage - I will try your crop technique and see if I can make it work. All input is muchly appreciated - thanx for sharing the knowledge..

The way I do a conversion is a little strange, I start a project in 16:9, I pull in the old 4:3 footage.

Then I do a few things..

Add a sharpen filter to the video..

Add a crop filter to the video, pulling it out to a 16:9 look, sure you could do this several different ways.

It's a static non moving model, the pod does go inside the craft. I believe it is Matchbox brand.

It moves freely up and down on its own legs, and its a model made by TAKARA not Matchbox, who did the "cheaper" version :)

from what I am hearing if you don't have a super quick connection to the internet HD downloads can take time, there would not be that much gain going HD, remember it will be a very much reworked 4:3 SD digital video, you can't turn mutton into spring lamb on a upscale like that..

You can use it to make puppets mouths move digitally. You may even be able to do the same for the engines if you have this!

Its all been re shot, heaps more backlight, no christmas lighs, more smoke.

It is really difficult lighting what is basically a black set, it seems to just soak up the light.

Those modifications made to the TB2 are superb - love the extra lighting, brings the model to life.

With regards to 16:9, I'd say a definite yes. It will look spectacular!

I always start off very shakey no matter what video I am making..

Throwing the test up really helped me see what it looks like on noobtube..

I have a new camera, my first non Sony, I am still learning its ways.

Yes I have done some simple detail work inside the pod, you can't buy that model like that..its a custom job.

The lights inside TB2 look cool. The glare, intentional or unintentional, is a nice touch. The ones in the background I could live without though - either less of them or try to use ones of a different shape.

Even though I am now using a 3 CCD camera the lights are still giving off a glare, I would prefer no glare, its part of the punishment of looking at naked lights, and a not so pro camera.

I can live with this glare as its a dream sequence, the background lights are a problem, they have not come out as out of focus as I wanted, maybe no lights will be a fix...you can only learn by your mistakes.

i am still not happy with the christmas lights as a backdrop, I was hoping they would look more magical, to me they look like a bunch of cheap lights...hmmmmmmmm.

sometimes you just need to post a video to see how it looks, the youtube encoding is quite brutal to video footage.

have you though of used LEDs. Or to make the christmas lights as visible, but less promonent, try placeing them behind a vail, or a similer see threw cloth. Thats way the glare is reduced and you see more of a "Glow" perhaps.
