  • Love your style. Love Jeff Beck. Great Video!

  • Here I am again:)

I wonder what the values for your P.B. are?(both up and down) and how do you get that beautiful screaming sound?(1:02)

  • @TheDjnima

Good ear! I use really hi values on PB, and different values for up and down.

I usually use between 7 and 9 intervals respectively. As to the scream, it is a combination of "pinch harmonics", and ampsim feedback, cool huh? there are some good ones on "The Grunge". Music is available on my site planet606 . c o m

  • Hi DrRyman,

Here I am again:) Yet another beautiful peace of music. It is very difficult, almost impossible, to hear that it is not a real guitar player playing on real guitar, good stuff. I am very curious about your set-up:)What value do you use in this specific song for your P.B?(both up and down) and what articulation do you use to capture that beautiful screaming sound?(1:02)

Btw, where can I purchase your CD?

    Cheers

  • To take on Beck, Rit and Luke & pull it off with a guitar is amazing enough, but with a keyboard is otherworldly. DrRyman must be elevated to the pantheon of guitar-gods. His tone, touch, sensitivity, soulfulness & musicianship are incredible - especially when you open your eyes to be reminded that he's doing this on a keyboard. AMAZING! AWESOME! Thanks for posting this.

  • Just beautiful man, great playing. I love guitar so much that I must be a guitarist born in a pianist body! This VSTi may just help me find myself lol ... Thanks for making this vid!

  • refx slayer

  • @VictomousInc uhm no. Not slayer.

  • OMG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll died it

  • I'm a guitarist and I'm amazed at how a keyboard can replicate the sound of an electric guitar. but simulation will always be simulation no matter how close it gets. but only judging by the performance, that was a great jam!

  • how do you make the feedbacker also do pitch modulation a tthe same time ?

  • Hi Maico,

I have several methods to do this, There is a feedback keyswitch that I can hold while I use the PBend joystick, and I have midi "aftertouch" assigned to modulation, as well as the joystick also does modulation...

Did you like the "Wookiesnot" cut?

    Cheers,

    Dr R

  • is that guy ozzy lol?

  • I love that track - Beck does it best of course - guitar is hard to simulate- but that is one of the best ones I have heard.

  • It sounds better than a guitar '''''

  • 70's! Takes me right back! Awesome man. I love that you have figured out that you don't have to play a thousand keys a second to get your point across! Great emotion!

  • Thanks! :)

and if you do perhaps want a thousand keys a second..

  • cool

  • nice!

reminds me of a psychodelic/acid music video.

  • Nice job Mate!

  • Nicely done! I'm just getting in to Apple computers. And still learning Garage Band to get my feet wet. In the future, I plan to move up to Logic studio. Keep the videos coming!

  • good job man! CTROCK THE HIP HOP ROCK GUITAR ARTIST.

  • Fan-tas-tic, man ! Real good instrument control !

  • people try this realstrat and then run guitar rig 3 or amplitube 2 through it as effects

  • Are you going in a guitar effect processor?

    This sounds good mate.

  • Hi Steve,

    Thanks!

I am using a combination of 3rd party AU type amp simulator plugs..in Mainstage.

    I can choose tubes/boxes/ speakers/mikes/distance/room..

and any plugin available in LogicStudio

    All continually evolving..

    Cheers!

  • I don't believe that realstrat might sound as real... you are GREAT!!

  • i didnt know ozzy played on the keys!!

  • the feedback bits are a quirk of jeff beck like a little calling card . copying like you do is cool but imo he's placing an imprint on the piece while your just copying one. nice bit but still not quite exact.

  • Thanks!

well, dang.. after all, it is a "cover tune"..

Check out "keytar the grunge" for my own quirky imprints..

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!!! wow I play some guitar, I think I'll quit and learn this...looks like you can do way more this way than you can with a guitar...not to mention 10 note chords and voicings impossible on a guitar...I'll have to consider this!

  • nice,i need to now the brand of the keyboard

  • It is a Novation Sl61 MIDI Controller, the sound is MacBookPro and software.

  • thanks for the answer

  • would be cooler without all the dramatic blue haze around...take a look at jenkees.

  • yes its cool. its like a guitar slow. nice

  • As a keyboarder I asked myself if its easier to learn hot to play real guitar than to learn the technique to simulate a guitar on a keyboard. As far as I know there's a steep learning curve until you're able to play something believable. Otherwise Realguitar and Realstrat are very interesting.

  • Great interpretation and feeling!!!

Do you use Musiclab Realstrat software to play it?

In this case I will add your videos to my channel, Realstrat and Realguitar specific.

  • Thanks!

    You got it!

  • gorgeous sustained notes and vibrato, I am frankly stunned by the guitaristic sounds you achieved, I gotta hear it again!

  • Rockin'... Nice Job D....

Video tracks slow on my computer so there was a little latency between fingers and notes, only a problem the in the fast runs.. Wish the keyboard chordal part was way smaller in the mix....

  • Thanks!

high quality streams are available from my site.

  • bravo !!!!

  • I came back to Dr Ryman's page after awhile away, and found this amazing new post! I have listened to/watched the song and video over and over -- probably a dozen times. And that is only a start. There is a timelessness about this performance and the tone that you are able to coax from the keyboard controller that is remarkable. Keep making music, and posting it for us to learn from and enjoy!

  • incredibly beautiful! and that's coming from a jeff beck fan... dr ryman, your playing soars and sings, in your own style... a conversation in sound and image across time with the many versions of this song, and your version flows melodically and freely as if you had composed the song completely yourself... thanks so much for posting this!

  • Glad to see that the ReMOTE 61SL is still doing it.

It is indeed a great sound!

    Nicely done.

  • please! tell me what you are using? That sounds AMAZING!!! is it sampling or a vsti? must be damn good.

    amazing performance.

But Jeff does not use one!

    :)

  • Ah yes so ,,

He played it with a finger.:)

I watched this video 3 times.
