In the Christian World, gays cannot get married. But understand we live in a nation that is not based or rooted in Christian principles. We are to submit under authority for God appoints all leaders, for they are reflected off the people itself. That being said, gays have the right to get married in America. The law of the land does not forbid it, however they should not be getting married in christian churches for that is disrespectful to Christians. And insulting might I add.
Your "rights" may not infringe upon my liberties. Marriage is a social contract and historic transcultural institution which has existed for over 5000 years without the need to include perverse or abhorrent behaviors which destroy the institution like a cancer from within the civilization. Our culture is based on institutions like marriage. Destroy the institutions, destroy the culture. Period.
Gay marriage is not a civil right nor is it a normal part of our culture and tradition. If we allow
No gay marriage, I'm ok with partnership and extending same legal rights but MARRIAGE is between a man and woman no the same sex. come up with another word but I want to be able to tell my children the definition of marriage and that definition doesn't include the same sex. I will gladly explain the difference with marriage and same sex couples partnership. But can't we keep words apart instead of changing the definitions. Just let the definition of Marriage stay the same (a man and woman)
The government has no business being involved in marriage. It should be an issue for communities, churches and individuals. The involvement of government in marriage is relatively new. It needs to end. People can enter into contractual arrangements regarding joint property, etc, but they should be free to do that with anyone, whether a spouse or a business partner. The problem is not that government can redefine marriage; the problem is the fact that government is defining it in the first place!
Homophobic garbage.... Yes. These are our values. Tolerance and compassion. Something that's completely missing from the Right Wing and most of the so-called Christians.

So sad to see an oppressed group of people go on to behave bigoted against yet others. From such tragedies greater ones yet are born.
