im have to disagree. if you arent getting soreness than A. you need more time to recover between workouts, or B. you didnt work out hard enough. I allow at least 4 days in between working out one particular muscle group.
Tearing the muscle is good for growth. But what most people fail to realize is they need to have a recovering stage to let the muscle heal 100% before the next workout. In working out this way, you will see massive muscle gains and improvements on your body. Allowing the muscle to recover is a big part of muscle growth. If you workout through the soreness, your body will adapt to this and wont allow the muscle to grow as much as you want it to. Best quote for bodybuilding, no pain, no gain. :)
@MeatyRipsauce laptic acid, and no it does not. Its more when your muscles can't take in enough O2 for what your doing so laptic acid builds up which is a toxin. You get it in 100 meters beacuse they don't in-hail for the dureation of it. Its only temp, it clears up when you start takeing in O2.
@SoCalxHeartbreaker yh that is what i do, I,E i play soccer and my hamstring is sore i stretch it start jogging and it slowly recovers(soccer as in football in the uk)
No offense Yuri, but I'm quite disappointed that despite all your qualifications your best advice about muscle soreness was to do light workouts when the correct answer is enough sleep, sufficient good quality food and also correct technique for an exercise/lift should be checked.
yuri i have a question. I play basketball everyday and train every other day and alternate training sessions between upper body and lower body. My question is, because i play basketball everyday and i train my lowerbody twice a week, can this lead to overtraining? thanks
I dont think long term that tearing your muscles at every workout is healthy at all! Its not normal to be doing something like that.. You are basicly living your live healing your self from sore muscles, eventually your body will get give up from so many traumas
I read an article of a study conducted at the University of Umeå in Sweden a couple years ago concluding that no muscle breakdown occurs after weight training. It's a long lived myth!
@johnjohansson Then what is your opinion are what have you acquired that determines what happens after weight training?? ( I particularly want to hear what you have to say about it but I do intend on researching the subject for my own benefit, I don't just expect for you do deliver me the information so conveniently lol).
i have ass fat and im a dude. i cant run or do anything on a treadmill cause i have intense foot pain. what can i do to lose the fat cause it really affects the lower part of my back ( it curves to much so it makes my ass look even bigger)

Don't forget about the acid build up on your muscles after a workout. This can also cause muscle soreness.

What do you mean by, the rest and recovery is more important than the training? Can you please explain. Thank you
