  • MASTERCLASS

  • Ferenc is smiling

  • Guys, it doesn't matter what anybody thinks about Cziffra. He's the best pianist ever and there will never be a better one.

  • "il mio cuore è giovane, reggerà"

  • Who are these peasants that critiscise one of the greatest pianists of all time/

  • best

  • mastery.

  • Wow... this is the first time I've seen Cziffra struggle with piano/mess up... it's good he got back into the song's groove just as fast as he slipped up though :P

  • @TheExarion Yes, he looked a litttle uneasy rather than his usual nonchalant self. Such a shame there are no videos for William Tell or Blue Danube - would be great.

  • @Jim341046 I'd much rather see videos of his Hungarian Dance interpretations/La Fantaisie Roumaine performance, that would be awesome. *_*

  • @TheExarion I've seen some even more outrageous performances by Cziffra from someone who posted recently. Its a collection of exerts about 8 mins long and includes things I didn't think possible. I love Cziffra like a god but I just like the smile and the bravado, not the commerciality.

  • @Jim341046 Do you mind giving me the username of the person uploading these vids? o.O

  • néha az az érzése az embernek hogy képes lenne eltólni a kezével a befékezett zongorát!

  • Liszt in persona

  • Hahaha Hamelin lol. In this piece it's Cziffra the master, then Jung Lin!

  • i respect Cziffra so much he plays so great but in this recording, in this piece, Marc Andre Hamelin is the best!!!

  • Cziffra's speed-up is really scary...

And I must say... it's really really a pity that Cziffra didn't create his own "cadenza", otherwise it must be very gorgeous!! Just look his "Cziffra's crazy improv with Chopin Etude" film and imagine it......

  • When I was 12 years old, I visited My Mothers home in Budapest just before the 56 revolution. My Nadgy Mama (grand mother) was an adjudicator for the music school and I met and listened to Cziffra playing and he gave me 1/2 hour of tuition. This giant of a man was the most sincere Liszt interpretor of all time. Sadly he died most tragekly at an early age. Look out for his music!!!!

  • what year was this?!

  • lol he looked like liszt

  • Energy, fire, heart, amazing technic....yes, I love Cziffra

  • Lang Lang WHO? Cziffra killed everybody.......Hoffman, Lhevine, Godowsky, Clibrun, Horowitz, Kissin......EVERYBODY....with the possible exception of Rachmaninoff. The most highly underrated pianisit of the 20th Century! Only a "real" gypsy could play Liszt, Brahms, etc with such taste and soul!

  • Unmatched.

  • Now I know who Lang Lang is trying to imitate when trying to play this and other stuff - only this guy hits all the right notes - what a great day this has been discovering Cziffra - thanks to you-tube !!!

  • Love the guy in the back at 2:18 who poked his head into the aisle to get a view of those frenzied hands at work.

  • love it when he played it staccato here 0:32 ! made it more interesting

  • This is the greatest shit ever, I feel like this guy is the reincarnation of a God, he's the student of Liszt's student. ANd now I'm the student of Cziffra's student, what the hell, I just have to learn it I got to the begining of this video, so far

  • My teacher said im like Liszt's students students students.... students student. But its still something haha :D

  • I want to see his hands!!!!

  • @felix0911176727

ther's not a camera fast enough to record that:P

  • People get it together. This is Cziffra's interpretation plus , it dose not look like Liszt from the front its Cziffra. This is a recording when he was young. I am talking about the older Cziffra not Cziffra Jr.!

Just because some idiiot NMBANANA said that this is Liszt means nothing...

  • @Airliners101

i know liszt when i see him, this si him beyond any doubt and i am sorry to say to you mister airline but nmbanana is right... now just calm down dont make a scene

  • @Airliners101

cziffra is the one in the begining who looks admiratively at liszt. in other words cziffra is liszt's bitch, liszt is THE PIMP you have to understand that

  • How old is Cziffra on this recording? And why is wearing this strange hair style? Because when I saw him first from look from somewhere under him, I thought he looks like Liszt (thanks to strange hair style), or have some mask of Liszt...when he was shown from front look I saw that he's Cziffra I know.

  • thats what i thought to

  • Its very funny , Liszt playing Cziffra's interpretation? Hhahahaha !!

  • I love how people don't even understand what they read. Haha.

  • ok how that can be liszt when he was around the 1800's where there was no video only probably a picture of him but really thats gyorgy cziffra and he plays wonderful. if your not sure who that is dont comment because youll be the stupid one at the end, and his name is right there

  • motion picture was invented in 1880, liszt died in 1886

  • No...that's Cziffra.

  • no matter of the bad quality because you uploaded a video where Liszt himself is playing

    no, i'm not wrong.

  • Yes , you are wrong , because at the time of Liszt there was no video practicaly

  • that probably was liszt because he had a scar on the right side of his face

  • If it was real this would not be on youtube but classical composers would be sitting around the tv and watching how the master plays.

  • breathtaking wonderful

  • the melody in 3:17 it is the seed of all hungarian feelings:)

and this piece is the country around it. i love this song.

  • Cziffra has no myelin sheath! It's a filthy conspiracy! You are swallowing lies and falsehoods! CZIFFRA HAS NO MYELIN SHEATH!

  • Yeah,I love sarcasm too...

  • @Raffzeee huh?

  • @Raffzeee

Who is Myo Lin Shit ?

  • Um yea... why cant richard kastle play like that

  • Kastle, copac, and mikecaffey take turns fucking each other in the ass.

  • Already did!And it was awsome(Buy the way,his wersion op.25 no 6. is just breathtaking)! Just a couple days ago I got to hear a recording of him playing all Chopin etudes. For now,Cziffras is my favorite set(Richter is fantastic too).

  • Lol, mikecaffey gets a negative rating even when he leaves positive comments.

  • He deserves it

  • @mikecaffey Seriously after all these years you still exist. FUCK OFF YOU PIECE OF SHIT, DOUBLE RAINBOW DICK SUCKING FAGGOT!

  • Soy un incodicional de Cziffra, así que en vez de ponerme pedante diciendo lo bueno que es... ¿solo tocan ahí dos manos?

  • I have a recording of him playing this piece much better.

  • An audio or an video recording?Because I have an audio recording of him playing this piece much better too.But to be honest, this video I uploaded is the first video file of him playing the Hungarian Rhapsody No.2 I ever saw.But you all here are right,it really isn't the best of his performances.

  • It's only an audio recording unfortunately.

  • That's too bad...It would be great to see a video of him playing this piece as good as in his studio recordings.

  • Well, the one I have is a live recording, but yes, it would be great to see him play it at his best.

  • True.By the way, seems like you are a Cziffra fan, maybe you can give me some advice.I'm new to his playing,I've got 2 Cd's(Hungarian Rhapsodies,Chopin - Waltzes/Impromptus).So I'm not quite sure, what to search for next.Maybe you can recommend some recordings you liked?

  • Unfortunately I only have the one aforementioned CD of his (although a great one: several Chopin waltzes, 4 etudes, Fantasy-Impromptu, 4th Ballade, Liszt Funerailles, 10th Transcendental Etude, Gnomenreigen, 2nd Hungarian Rhapsody). Most of my exposure to the great Cziffra has come from Youtube I'm afraid. However, I do know that his Liszt, Chopin, and Schumann (especially Carnaval) are among the best out there.

  • (continued)

His piano concertos are also great, especially Liszt's 1st concerto and the Hungarian Fantasy. All his recordings of Balakirev's Islamey are very notable as well. I hope this helps you out a bit. I'm considering purchasing a CD or two of his myself one of these days.

  • Yeah,this does help.I now kinda at least know,where to start.Thanks.

  • yeah he doesn't play it that good here

  • Not best of his performances.
