Thats the glare of light on the lens actually, like if you take a picture of car lights at dusk, you'll see two brighter spikes of light caused by the optics of the camera lens and coating. However, the flash is very bright indeed.

Finally, light-speed isn't fast enough to cross space. There's a more effective way to travel, cut into the other dimensions and travel through those, where distance is meaningless in 3D terms. More likely than warp.

With those clips, the movement of the object correlates to the movement of the camera's view field, but in this clip the movement of the object is consistent with the landscape and not with the car or camera's movement. I think the flash is the release of energy when it shifts gear.
