  • I hear you say that red (iron rich) soil is good for finding gold. I live in North Carolina and all we have is blood red dirt here. Is this a good place to look and if not why? I live just minutes away from a mountain that has two abandoned gold mines. The big one is chiseled about 100ft into solid rock and the small mine is about 60-70ft long into a much softer light colored powdery type stone.. Is this a good place for me to start? Any help is much appreciated..

  • thanks that was a very good and informative video, yes i wondered why you didnt write how many grams a day you get doing that on average!!!!!!! I figured it was like 200 dollars, i dunno it looked like it might be 1/2 cubic centimetre, say 10 grams worth, but it might be half that.

    1cm3 is 19.3 grams = 2/3 oz

  • About how much money was that gold worth that you made in one day.

  • Like I said before, I really like the Garret Super Sluice for a variety of reasons. Make sure you get the plastic classifier that comes with the kit. Jeff

  • @ghosttownhunter im just curious sir, how about using a magnet to jump the gun and remove all the magnetic junk? i figure ited be alot easier and remove the heavy iron components.

i hope for a speedy reply.

    thankyou.

  • Alot of natural damage for a small amount of gold. Did you dig another hole to fill that in or return your washed sand? Where is that? It looks to be a very fragile habitat.

  • Awesome! You made about 30 cents an hour each!

  • @spankula123 ah idk if your familiar with gold prices but.... thats about 4-6 hundred bucks worth... so more like 100 or so an hr and divide by 2 for him and his friends is still 50 and hr which is around 55k a year. Not bad... alot better that sitting around watching tv for 5 hrs...

  • Hi Jeff,

We are beginners in the mining business. but our home area has a wonderful prospect : we recently found a single nugget weighing nearly 300grams. I'm fascinated by ur video clip , and wonder if we could cooperate somehow. I think ur experience could help us greatly to find even more . Ha! Ha!! But we are all the way in West Africa. Are u interested? If yes, pls send me ur e-mail address for more explanation.

    Thanks for ur efforts.

  • Great video Jeff! I live in Montana and there are hundreds of abandoned Gold mines right in my back yard practically. I've been wanting to get into prospecting and just picked up a starter kit. My question for you is where do you reccommend I start looking? Near old mines? Small creeks, larger creeks? Anywhere? Much appreciated. Thanks.

  • @colbymck The rule of thumb is " To Find Gold, You Must Go Where it already Been Found ". Second, know what Gold you are looking for ( i.e. Hard rock or Placer ) Third Do the research on the area before going there. ( i.e. USGS reports, Mining History ect. ) Fourth, know your equipment and how to use it effectively ( pan, sluice, dredge, metal detector , dry washer, Trommel ) . Fifth. understand that Gold has a specific gravity of 19.3 and that will determine on where it decides to hide.Jeff

  • Looks like a lot of work for a little gold

  • @Stillwater900 That's why it goes for $1500 an oz.

  • @ghosttownhunter I think I'll stick with estate sales, I have better luck there

  • Hey jeff, great vid, more on the way i hope? my son and i are going prospecting here in washington state next weekend (extreme amatuers) with metal detectors shovels and a couple pans! any advice would be awesome!!! thanks! Duke

  • @cosmicundulator Depending on your metal detector you can use it to find large concentrations of black sand under the surface of a gravel bar. Try to find the head and end of this deposit and then draw a straight line. Then dig down to the black sand and pan that layer. You will find GOLD. Jeff

  • Why don't you keep the rocks, over them with a metal detector, then a pin pointer, use a jaw crusher, then your process.

  • @MsAbbydo We always go over our waste rock with a metal detector when we do a clean up. Jeff

  • nice video i learn much from you thanks.

  • @NecipAksoy Thanks, we try to keep it interesting. Jeff

  • Soundtrack was I thought a little loud, but was aa nice choice in song.

    Really enjoyed your video.

I could understand you very well, and I liked the info about the magnet trick.

I've worked in Gold Basin twice, and didn't do as well as you, but I did find color with my 151. Keep diggin'!!!

  • @70289121 Thanks for the great comments. Jeff

  • wow this video is great education ! thank you !!!

  • @Donatillo1961 Thanks, we enjoyed making it and its always nice to find a little color while doing it. Jeff

  • Hi Jeff thx 4 the tips ... I'm living in Saudi Arabia, up in some valley and I'm not quit shore were do I start !!!

  • @youwillc123 I would probably use a Minelab metal detector in the Zalm district. A lot of Gold has come out of there for a very long time.

  • @ghosttownhunter thank you for the info but what is Zalm

  • i love living 2 km from a abandoned gold mine

  • Thank you, got me $700 worth of gold i owe it all to you thank you!!!!

  • @AGDemo

  • @ghosttownhunter Great Work Keep Em Coming!

  • The soundtrack is " The Ecstasy of Gold ". Jeff

  • Great vid, if i might ask what is that soudtrack you play during the intro, i have heared it before, think it would be great tune to listen to while gold panning, heck it is a great tune =)

  • Thanks for the comments. We will try to get out as many vids as possible. Jeff

  • EXCELLENT video, one of the best on YouTube. Great information, you are a professional. This single video is 1000 times better than ANYTHING Tom Massie has on GPAA. I am a GPAA member and think they are all about the MONEY. They don't care about teaching you how to find and separate gold from concentrates. They only care about the Alaska trip and the memberships. I wish they would do something like this. I will watch all the other videos you have regarding Gold Prospecting. Thanks!

  • Where is gold basin? I've heard of bloody basin. How would I get there from Phoenix.

Are you on a claim? Or is it BLM. If it is a claim who is your membership thru?

Thanks Brad please e-mail me at moorewilliam73 @ yahoo .com

  • @bradmoore8 Its outside of Kingman, Arizona. Its a private claim. Jeff

  • Jeff, nice vid, great camera work. New to (soon I should say) all this and a ? if I may. At the end you showed some yellow with a picker or two, for a half days work. Rough estimate, how many grams, what ball park $ amount, again just curious to enable me to gauge me when I am finding golds. Thanks Mn.Lar (Minnesota Larry)

  • @lac123able It comes out to a couple penny weight. Jeff

  • Thanks. Jeff

  • NICE 5 STAR

  • Gerat vid, what do you think about the Prescot area for gold prospecting ? I have a keen dry washer, works pretty well.

  • @RESISTCONTROL2 Lynx creek is a great place to start. Also south of Prescott are the Bradshaw mountains. Great area for dry washers. Jeff

  • Thanks. Jeff

  • Great information, thanks !!
