  • I think, it was a reklame hehe :)

  • Country don't mean dumb!!!!

  • "Let's go people, let's go..you're on Uncle Sam's time now." Ain't the scary truth friends. I have a feeling we're going to see more scenes from 'The Stand' played out in our lifetime.

  • the irony of this part is, not only was Joe Bob Briggs playing a character named Joe Bob, but if that army traffic had stopped and neutralized him, the plague never would have spread outside Arnette, and with some liberal firebombing, the whole thing could have been contained. the book explains this better.

  • Fluu body..! riiiight I'll do with some froggy :3

  • ..gotta love the crow...

  • Anyone knows the song starting around 3:30?

  • I don't understand why people view this video so negatively but they'll vote for garbage like American Pie.

  • Don't get hung up on the little details. This was filmed with a kinda low budget also. Read the full book & you'll understand it better. The clock turns red, Campion notices it & jumps out of the gaurd tower just before the air tight door closes. Murphy's Law will overcome any precautions man can think up. Once Pandora's Box is opened...Military could not contain an airborne virus. Once out, no stopping it.

  • At 3:07 That sign must've been made specifically for this movie. Well, we wouldn't want all that work to go to waste now do we? Make Arnette a real town in East Texas!!!

  • flu buddy haha

  • lieutenant Dane

  • I love this movie and the theme of it. But the one thing i find annoying is how it all started because a rent-a-cop didn't close a chain link fence. Is there more to this in the book?

  • @MerryGoFuckYourself I don't get the thing about the gate either because people have said the main way it got passed around was from contact, first with Campion and then through whoever else he had been in contact with, so I can't see closing the gate would've made much difference except he tried to get out.

  • @TheBookWorm1718 Yeah I guess my gripe was more with the flimsy chain link fence. I guess if they had a bigger budget they could of had a bunker with blast doors and all that. I just found it funny how the base holding the deadliest virus known to man was protected by something a 10 year old could climb over.

  • @MerryGoFuckYourself No, that's really how this government does things.

  • What I never get in these movies, like this is Virus, they always have some dumb country boy that tries to leave the quarantined area and they always seem to make it. I mean if this really happened do you think any people would get outside a 100 mile radius, especially in small town where you could actually track every move? This is exactly why satellites track our every move, this could never happen these days. They would probably nuke half the state and call it an accident.

  • @lamareaton Funny ain't it. That's kinda why I liked the Crazies. Resident Evil did okay until they all decided to go back to the nuthouse.

  • I never knew East Texas had mountains! Lol!

  • The "Flu Buddy" commercial is great. In fact, for a hot minute I thought it was a real commercial.

  • @DarkeningSkies1 That's funny. I thought you were a real person until you said "for a hot minute"

  • @poop4u2scoop Sadly, in Philadelphia still in general use.

  • The smartest thing would have been to leave the townspeople IN town to prevent further spread.

  • note the prominent 33 on the T-Shirt

  • that would suuuuck

  • Follow the freeman!

  • Joe Bob Briggs!

  • the goverment wouldnt act that fast on something like this

  • I love it when a man treats me old fashioned...however, I don't like being talked down to or ignored when trying to participate in an intellectual conversation. Hold the door and tip your hat or whatever... but don't discount my brain...

  • Joe Bob Briggs Aka joe bob from TNTs monster vision

  • Nadine is Hot!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • FLU BUDDY !

  • What a marvellous accent the copper has.

  • ''I aint gonna resist, Country don't mean dumb...''

  • that guy who plays the cop---hot hot hot hottiness;)

    i'd do that.

  • Alf's dad is an Army beaurocrat? Damn - it IS the end of the world !!

  • @titaniccuttee I was using the term ironically as most people would have realized....

  • Bad thing about this part, is you know damned well this is exactly how the government would handle something like this.

  • @lothartheterrible King has it right. Now the Feds will hire Scums like Blackwater/Xe to close the roads, control the media & kill Americans. Our Tax $ at work. Will the End be like this or like "the Road"? You can bet the Feds/Military will be in on it. Odd enough I don't really feel bad for all the people who will die, as we're all part of the problem to some degree. I do feel really bad for all the innocent animals that will suffer & die. How long will the Elites last in tax paid bunkers?

  • @ClarenceBoddicker87 Months. A year at the most. Rations will only last for so long.

  • @lothartheterrible This is true, but in a situation like this, when it is a matter of "when" and not "if", what does it really matter?

  • @ClarenceBoddicker87 You're telling me you'd feel worse for the ANIMALS than you would for people? What the hell is WRONG with you? 4 legs good, 2 legs bad?

  • @Thepylot78 Superflu is a deadly MAN made Pandemic. Animals (except Humans) don't cause major damage to Earth, as people do. They don't spend time & energy working on better ways to kill their own species. Black Death was caused by fleas & poor human hygiene, not animals. Believe it or not, if you pay ANY taxes to ANY Gov't, YOU support things like Project Blue. The more Taxes YOU pay, the more YOU "buy in" to it. All Govt's do it to some degree. Chem/Bio & Nuke weapons are not new or free.

  • @ClarenceBoddicker87 "Black Death was caused by fleas & poor human hygiene, not animals." ...do you even listen to yourself? You sound like an idiot.

  • @LegionLives black death= spread by rats

  • @ricker01100 Oh, I know. Rat carried the fleas that spread the virus to the nearby population. I was mocking ClarenceBoddicker87. Read his post, it's really pretty funny.

  • @lothartheterrible- I wonder how it would be for the armed forces. American soldiers are not trained to be Nazi thugs. They are not trained to never, ever question orders. From what the book shows, though, the military falls apart much as everything else does. The chain of command busts down, troops fight against one another, and most troops just keep doing what they're told in the hopes that following orders will be enough.

  • @Jurassic0Al The book was probably pretty accurate. I think in the end, when it's obvious that the situation is out of hand, every man will be for himself.

  • @lothartheterrible- True. It's hard to believe that even the Army and the Marine Corps could collapse like they do in "The Stand". More is expected of them, they're not supposed to fall apart. But even they aren't exempt if civilization itself breaks down.

  • @lothartheterrible i dont know if thats worse then not doing this though. in a situation the less loss of life is the better choice.

  • So this is like bird flu swine flu and west nile all rold in to one.

  • @mamasmurf1o1 Not like bird flu- the crow that appears just after the outbreak and reappears at 3:17 shows the virus doesn't affect birds!

  • That's because the bird is Flagg, the demon.

  • @lothartheterrible hey! you're The Day After guy! funny seeing you here. just gotta love apocalyptic fiction, eh?

  • @joshman783 This movie actually weirded me out a lot more than TDA did, probably because I was a teenager when it aired and not an impressionable child.

  • @lothartheterrible I find The Stand and The Day After to both be about equally creepy, but the scary part of The Day After is like they say at the end, the real thing would be a lot worse, just like The Stand but we don't really know to what degree.

  • @lothartheterrible not much to do...Nuke the affected area, protect the rest of the population. "Sorry sixpack joe, theres a hundred more just like you" Either that or use napalm/thermite explosives.

  • @lothartheterrible How would you handle it?

  • This is the second movie I've watched recently where people wear face masks--but NOT gloves--when they approach and handle someone with a deadly disease

  • this book is awesome.i love it.this movie thing is actually like..doing a good job..cept for the characters.idk

  • @melissabear100

so many of s.k.'s books are like that.

so often the movie idea of the character is so different from the book.

sometimes it works so well--"misery" and "the shining" in both of these the book and the movie were quite dif. but both great.

  • I have fond memories of me and my friend watching this movie when we were young.

And everytime someone would cough, she would yell out: "Oup. He's gonna die." xD

  • @MsHenryTheGreat

I can see why. This show's really great; it's really held up well over the years.

  • @pizzaman147 yeah, and Europe saved you from Japan, would have liked to see you handle that war without our troops and nuclear scientists, get your facts straight you numpty

  • Comment removed

  • Maybe if these fuckers covered their damn mouths when they coughed, it wouldn't be such a problem. Seriously, they cough right in other people's faces. Basic hygiene 101, cover you fucking mouth.

  • @peanutfly22

hey, you know what? it's a movie.

you don't have to worry about flu you already have dumb ass cow disease.

  • The film savagely cuts out most of the book, although the abridged version does a similar job. You only get the tiniest amount of character development in the film and whole chapters' worth of characters in the book are left out altogether - like Jane Baker, Carla Goldsmith, most of Larry's Mom and the Sipe Springs media incident.

  • @jimbob512000

    so? read the book.

  • @jimbob512000 Yup, and also Trashcanman's journey and his meeting with "The Kid"

  • earlier that guard now this policeofficer, they sure got brainz...

  • probably the best made for tv movie i've ever seen. thanks for posting!!

  • In the book he got gas and sat down and talked for awhile. He did not make a call in to HQ and get told to mind his own business and was later picked up by the Army and arrested,Everything else in this clip never happened either and they left out around 35 pages of stuff that actually happened..What purpose did it serve to make a movie from a book then chnage 99.4% of it??

  • @thomasandtanga i Love that you said 99.4% cause that is the communicability rate in the book haha. if you put everything from the book in the series it woul dhave taken a year, and that would be fine with me, but not most people

  • @thomasandtanga hahaha nice statistic. i wonder how many people watching actually read it. the unabridged version that is

  • @fanosoX I did, about 10 times..

  • @anisete46 amazing book eh

  • I still laugh at the commercial.

  • i need some flu buddy!

  • thanks for the upload = ) I bet it was alot of work for you.

    I love this movie

  • @Brunette - 9/11/2001 was the beginning of end for USA

4/20/2010 end of USA oil spill 11 crew members dead

    4+2+0+2+0+1+0 = 9

    It's raining oil in Tampa

What if the dispersant is contaminated? or just the contaminant

The principle in all of this is "Containment breech"

"Story =Facts/Fiction" Look beyond the story and consider only the Principle of the movie and apply theory to real time Events as they unfold with this oil spill

Folks - it may time, To Stand

  • @aka5Fires what about the giant bubble of methane that they released and is barely being held down by the oceans weight there is a large spike in natural gas in the area if it gets as big as they predict it will it could suffocate the whole coast line did you forget that one in your feverish ramblings?or did you just not know that fact but thats all good cause our good ol republican palls can just drill baby drill like it never happened and no ones the wiser gotta love it

  • I dunno, i dont really like the choice for stu. one of my faves in the book, not my fave in the series. nothing against the actor, i loved him in forest gump, but still, not who i woulda picked.

  • Country don't mean dumb...

  • Southern people aren't miseducated, trust me, I've been around there a lot. They're smarter than a lot of people I know, and a bit more religious than I can hope to be.

  • @tuggernuts6432 I think some people assume they are dumb because lots of them have a drawling accent. People have the same impression about the parts of the uk where they speak with a drawl. A silly assumption to make because of the way a person speaks, but lots of people do it.

  • @HollyMariepanda Yeah. Some of the smartest people I know are from down South.

  • flue buddy lol

  • @MPicoTTo2007 hahah cracked me up too!

  • :)

    Country doesn't mean stupid

  • As a taxpayer, I have a right to ask questions about my government. So there Cynthia!

  • lol omg when i first saw this movie i thought that flu buddy commercial was a real commercial lol

  • HA me too... I even skipped it when i was taping it off the tv lol

  • me too! lol

  • no let your boyfriend because obiviously u still didnt get dipshit i am taking credit for shit so opinions are like assholes we got got one get a fucking life

  • Omg just watch the fucking movie, cmon.

  • thats right talk about us americans we saved your ass during world war 2 so go on some where with your joke because we are not interested dipshit

  • @pizzaman147 you didnt do shit maybe youre grandpa but you cant take kredit for that so suck my balls

  • Why can't "pizzaman147" take some credit for WW2? You Europeans seem to blame Americans for wars the UN backs and NATO is involved in, but you point out the USA and say nothing about the other NATO nations. White people in the USA get blamed for slavery...but no one from that time period is alive today...same stuff.

  • Notice the number '19' over the store front door. Coincidence?

  • Reviewing This Movie Made Me Think About Swine Flu !!! How Much Do We Know About Its Origin??? Governments Lie To Us Worldwide !!!

  • @TluskiLetowski good call..

  • 3:37 That was are only basketball , there won't be a team this year...

  • Note: the crow will likely spread the virus; quarantine won't do jack.

  • lol flu buddy

  • that is the stpidest shit i ever seen lol

  • That is EXACTLY what the US ARMY would do,the would kill every one of us if told too.Mindless Drones they are indeed.

  • dont do some stupid, useless bio-experiments and they wont have to kill nobody :]

  • we do them to keep you and your family alive

  • ehh, thank you but 'fuck you' (US gov). i know what's good for me and my family. dont need some half-retards from other side of an ocean to tell me what is good for me.

  • I'm fairly sure we're on the same side of the pond. I do research in maryland. I know much more about what's better for their health and maintenance of such

  • if US itself focused on important things we would be colonizing Mars right now... but no...

we will keeep developing weapons and wasting Bs of dollars on military. that's sane.

  • what are you even babbling about?

    what's your background

  • Comment removed

  • % isn't a currency I know of

  • thx for correcting, me. didnt notice it last time.

anyway, keep spending even more money on military and see how your fake economy collapses. you are already Made in China USA.

    peace.

  • you're from the philippines...

and you're talking down to an American?

    ah booo and a YECHHH

  • i am not from philippines, mate.

and even if i were... it has nothing to do with our subject.

important is that both you and me are living on the same planet, planet Earth.

  • go home and get your fucking shinebox

  • hehe, that's a nice testimony of your intelligence,

    good manners and your country.

    live long and prosper, mate.

this planet could use a few more ppl like you.

  • It most certainly could, believe me

  • hahah... check 'irony', kiddo.

    maybe you will learn some.

    cheers

  • @BrendanIsCool i'm from the philippines, what would i do with a shinebox?isn't that what your people used to survive during the recession?WANT TO COMPARE ASSETS ASSHOLE?

  • nice utar88utar,dont let that american idiot get the best of you.for all we know,he's surfing the internet at the basement of his parents' house. lol

  • and why not? you had w bush as president who said "all our imports are coming from other countries" well, duh! bill clinton who can't reach over his desk to hand monica a tissue ang monica lewinski,my god, the only jewish-american who doesn't know how to remove stains from her clothes!!! and for all you americans who can't see this as a joke, you can all go to. . . . . . . . .

  • go to where? no really where do you want me to go? you cant just stop in the middle of a sentence like that.... Oh god im so lost...

  • uhhhhh,Mcdonald's? LMAO on your comment! seriously,no trolling. tnx for a great start to my day! i was just fooling around with the other guy. have a nice day!

  • @thomasandtanga To be fair, they're doing more to ensure that everyone else doesn't die while you spread the infection.

  • I'd rather they killed infected citizens, then allow them to cross state borders and spread the stuff. Sometimes there is no good choice.

  • Mindless drones, HAHA. I say power to them. I think they should quarantine states if something like this would ever happen - and before someone said 'Not if its you', I would quarantine my own damn self.

Only a retarded communist doesn't think that quarantine, and extreme countermeasures, should be utilized in the defense of an entire country. Bottom line.

  • @thomasandtanga dam right they would !

  • @thomasandtanga

Those "mindless drones" keep this country free. Have some respect for those who sign a contract to risk their lives for YOU.

  • @thomasandtanga I'm not so sure about that. They take an oath to defend the Constitution IIRC, not to blindly follow the orders of their superiors. I cannot imagine modern, educated soldiers going too far along with this. For whatever reason, probably in part because he grew up in the 60's, Stephen King seems to view the military as largely evil.. whether it is or not I cannot say... though I tend to doubt it

  • I agree with him country doesn't mean dumb. Just because someone has a country accent doesn't make them dumb. Even though I have seen some very unintelligent rednecks...lol

  • Hard to take him seriously when I know he is the dad from Alf. LOL

  • The only line of this clip I disagree with is when he says "Country don't mean dumb." I know plenty of country people and some are relatives and I believe country DOES mean dumb :P

Don't even bother to respond you hicks.

  • I agree Zombie.

My country cousin Wilbur can't read or write a lick! And he ain't gotta lick of sense. But, I do have to admit he's purty good at math...especially ciphering.

Why jus' the other day, he went to the bank to see how much money he had in his savings account and I heard him plain as day adding it up...

"one million, two million, three million, four million, five million,..."

  • Anyone think Cobain had a brain kniows more about dumb than anyone from the country.

  • I'm not a hick, far from , but I actually know a lot of people from Texas and they are far from "dumb".. maybe not Einstein smart, but they know a lot about life...

  • @anisete46 Dayam straight, babe. YEEHAW!!!

  • @anisete46 I think the best way to explain it is , maybe we didn't grow up in places like New York , Newark and Boston . maybe we didn't get to attend those fancy Yankee colleges. Maybe the typical backwoods coon ass in my neck of the swamp can't sit there and explain Einstein's theory of time dilation , but he's probably got more simple common sense than they'll ever live to have :)

  • Comment removed

  • @Taz0161 I know longer know what you're answering to, but you're probably right pardner For my part, didn't grow up in NY, Newark and or Boston either, just in some backwoods town in Texas....

  • @Taz0161 yeah get em! damn yankees!

  • @Taz0161 I couldn't like this enough, you are awesome. I especially appreciate it as I'm someone who grew up in East Texas. :-)

  • I wouldn't be at all surprised if the first part of this story (weaponized pathogens stored by the US government accidentally released and decimating the population) actually happened in real life.

  • The first time I saw the FluBuddy commercial I loled till my sides hurt.

  • I love this series. It was to my opinion, the best Steve King book to film version.

I read the book, and this is pretty close.

  • Although it's not as close to the source material, I would say the Shawshank Redemption is the best film adaptation of a Steven King work, not to mention one of the greatest movies of all time.

  • I had no idea shawshank was Stephen King's. Great movie.

Then there's running man. That movie makes me laugh. I love Shwarzzy.

  • It's based on Stephen King's short story "Of Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption".

  • Not running down "The Stand" miniseries, of course, it's also pretty good.

  • I hope that they do just as well with Under the Dome.

  • What is that? Is that , I take it, a new Stephen King book to film.

  • Yes, it's his newest release (it was REALLY good!)

They are turning it into a mini series, just like they did with The Stand.

And get this, it's being directed by Steven Spielberg.

  • Flu Buddy! LMAO

  • If it was that toxic I think the US govt would nuke the fucken state in a heartbeat not quarantine it.

  • 3:10. Who the f**k leaves a roadblock into a quarantine zone unguarded?

  • Old geezer? Call him that again and he'll kick your ass. :)

  • Joe Bob Briggs!

  • WHAT THE FUCK IS A FLU BUDDY!!!

the virusin this IS the H1N1!

  • so you sayin he got that pig?

  • I should get my civics teacher to show the class this movie cause it deals with the governments idiocy :)

  • I remember when I rented this on DVD and the Flu Buddy add came on I was like "WTF happened to the movie?" LOL! XD

  • @W4RLoL87 LOL!!! it nearly made me do a spit take :D

  • Hey its Jake the crow from the Shawshank.

  • are there only 3 books

  • Hoe the hell Did Lt. Dan gets his legs back??

  • jesus i remember this. when it first came on television i thought the flu buddy thing was an actual ad. i was 12 at the time, so that might explain it. it was also the unapologetic 90s.

  • What I dont understand about this scene is here Deninger is just wearing a crappy face mask and goes to touch Stu's arm yet later in Vermont hes in a biohazard suit and wont even shake his hand when offered. Lol

  • Yeah really. Little crappy paper respirators can't even stop black mold which is big enough to see, never mind something as small as an airborne virus.

  • FLU BUDDY!
