  • EXCUSE ME we dont need Americans only the power of Christ and the russians. we have monk Joseph and saint Kosmos of aitolia said that Russia will aid greece in WW3 against the Turks, NATO and America so suck

  • @123Godfreak if greece will even exist stop and enjoy the music this isnt the place to argue

  • @Rhomios, we are in this situation because of people like you!! Still claiming how hellenized Istanbul is, the roots, the history, bla bla. Sallonica is Ottoman, I may say. Is that right?? Screw your nationalism, may my greek brothers and us UNITE!

  • Lets enjoy these songs :)

  • Niiiiiice songs !-3

  • PROPAGANDA!

  • likeeee..............ok

  • postgame.gr το καλύτερο αθλητικό site!

  • Do you need to say "we are this, you are that, we did this, you did that..." I am a Turk, my childhood friend is half Armenian, half Greek... And many neighbours and friends... They are my İstanbul, all those people are my hometown. In the morning of that earthquake night, our neighbours from Greece passed the border to help us and they cried to save many people. No need to face a disaster to understand we need each other. Please, respect the music and common values. Teşekkürler.

  • @TheAaangeeel I am so happy there are people like you in both of our countries. Respect from Greece!!!

  • Kanenas ehei oi stihoi? Thelo na mathaino to tragouthi.

  • i really hate the some greek really made me angry ...

  • So Greeks make you angry? Tell me why

  • @Rhomios some greeks.. not all too many people is hero keyboard i hate that...

  • And you dont think that your people are much worser...

  • @Rhomios Excuse me; but the word ''worse'' is already the comperative form of the word'' bad'' :)

  • Great

  • Some of you never heard of Invention of tradition. This is always going on. Especially in modern Greece, after the independance, a lot was taken by Greeks and given by western phil-hellenes to create as much as possible a greek culture, based on as ancient as possible so called traditional greek elements. The same is true for modern Turkey, the republic created a Turkish thing out of everything what was to be found in Anatolia. The Ottomans were multicultural, even more than the Byzantine.

  • u all idiots just enjoy the song turk kurd arab greek u all same shit wake up!!

  • @cardiff154 yeah just like chinsese and japanese, english and germans all the same shit LOL

  • @WordsOfWisdom88 I know you don't have feelings. A turks brain is not developed enough to understand the concept of feelings. You are basically in the same class as a chimpanzee.

  • @AegeanKing You do not speak like a Greek but a malaka.

  • @WordsOfWisdom88 Greeks had no food? your stupidity has no end. Just face it, your people are nothing but violent and lazy nomads who mix different cultures and then call it "Turkish". Greeks civilized the western world, the only thing turks ever contributed is violence and destruction. Just look at your country, Every city in your country is built by somebody else. Your people are a worthless lot. Even the Great Ottoman Architect SInan was Armenian in origin. Turkish culture? no such thing...

  • rosa eskinazi is a very valiuable artist for turks for greeks and for world...it should be like this..

i believe greeks had some music b4 we cam to these lands..

but i know even 5-6 songs which is origin is from turkish crimean(kirim) people..and in youtube, they speak about these tracks that they r from istanbul...and many greeks even claim that it is pure greek

and ottoman empires center was istanbul..but ottoman empire has citizens from 3 continent..so it cant be only turkish greek mix.

  • If you Greeks claim to be European and western its ok.. but when you say this kind of music is yours then I cant accept it at all!! It sounds east and very Turkish Ottoman.. The instruments names are Turkish :)

  • let me ask you a question. What happened to all of the culture, food, dances and music of the Byzantine Christians population when the turks came?? Just because the ottomans got ride of the government they did not get rid of the population who still practiced their culture. If you think ottoman/turkish culture is not influenced by Byzantine Greek culture than you are dreaming.

  • That is because you turks copied the music of anatolia as well as the instruments before changing their original names to turkish-sounding names.

I had good feeling about your actions on YouTube :-(

But you always boast Greek culture saying it was founded by Turks... Very disappointing.

  • @Kalimeraba

You are not frien of Greeks.

You do not respect truth. What has been produced by Greeks on your soil is not Turkish.

  • Appreciate Greek language, Greek music.

Greek culture : More than 3000 years in Asia Minor

  • Ok...but what did the Armenians do to the Turks to warrant absolute slaughter? The Turks are a cruel race and the blood of Armenia will get it's revenge...go visit "Istanbul" while you can because soon Turks will not be allowed in Konstantine's Holy Christian City!!

  • You know the only thing such comments show is, that you are still barbarians and have never change throughout history. Keep the city if you like, in your unworthy hands. Its cultural heritage will always remain Greek, and in Millions of years, when your country doesnt exist any more, people will know who built the Agia Sophia and who ruined her, and this will be the only thing that counts.

  • Do you really believe in AMERICAN help? IF there were really a plan, to reconquer Constantinople, and this plan would be based on american help, then good night....

  • I wish all this nationalist bullshit didn't happen.

  • Istanbul zaten Yunanca bir kelime. Yunancada şehir merkezi (ne giden yol) anlamına gelir.

  • bu sadece bir varsayım, ispatlanmış birşey değil. öyle ise de sorun değil zaten

  • ne güzel o halde

  • These are nice instruments. Does anyone know what she is singing about? I don't speak Turkish. Thank you.

  • She is singing in Greek. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you just don't know anything about the Greek language rather than trying to be a smart ass.

  • What is your point smart "kalliplokamos"?

Note the smart , not the ass!

  • eis günümüz yunancasındaki se'ye tekabül eder. eis thn=sthn yani -e doğru, -içinde demektir. ve yunancada n'den sonra gelen p harfi b şeklinde telafuz edilir dolayısıyla boli olur. istinboli istanbul olmuştur.

  • so when in music can be peace and unitiy why not in politics as well?

  • what means instabul?

    what means ..bul? maby polis?

  • istanbul comes from Wis ton polis, Greek for In the city. It is a Greek name!

  • My friend...drink some tea, relax, drag a puff from the NARGILE..chill out...What we say regarding old names is TRUE...names like Istanbul, Smyrna, Heraklion (Ereglin in turkish) are all Greek names... The Ionioan Greeks (Hellenes of Anatolia) lived there for a few thousand years BEFORE the arrival of the TURKS.....sorry but this is History.....get over it....and accept it.....PEACE in the Agean!!!!!!

  • you are totally right.

  • and ankara is greek name from the greek ankyra witch mean anchor

  • now hitties are greeks too ?

  • go fuck yourself invader in stolen land!

soon you will go back to tourkestan

  • every land is "stolen", as you say; peoples migrate from one place to another in the course of history.

  • so we need to punish the thieve or no?

  • ma che vuoi dire, amico? non ti capisco.

  • fuck off capisco?

  • Instabul is a greek word as Constantinoupole.Instabul= Εις Την Πολην but turkish couldnt understand what greeks were saying and they were hearing as instabul which means at the City so you want it or not Constantinoupole was is and will be a Greek miracle.

  • My friend...how old are you?

I think you have to do some reading from a Western history book, NOT a book from Turkey.

  • you mean in the text in the books and newspapers before 1922 you used to call the instabol instabul?

    i want to see one!

  • if it is islambol why you call it istanbul?

    lol

  • so you take konstantinople from 20-30 nations?

go read some histoty ingnotand muslim and come back to talk!

you are full of shite sure you can make a great politician!

  • By the way, if you look at the lady's last name "Eskanazi" , she is obviously a Greek-jew.

  • Roza Eskanazi was sephardic jewish from Izmir

  • Konstantinoupolis has nothing to do with "Istanbul", that is true. BUT..........the name "Istanbul" DOES come from the Greek phrase " I stin poli", unless you think that it is a coincidence of astronomical value that it just so happens to be so CLOSE to "istanbul".

  • ı love İSTANBUL

  • muhahaha... you are so pity... i think you have to improve your brain... if you need something about your education Turkish People can help you... :)))

  • If I want to become a stupid nationalist, racist and ignorant tart I ll ask turkish people about education...

  • Istanbul is also Greek word.

  • It comes from the Greek phrase "I stin poli".............."to the city", I am amazed that so many people cannot see that though, especially some turks.

  • That's true! Phrase was "to the city", and there was onli one THE CITY, than came "black friday" unfortunately... But names of cities and the city stayed Greek till nowdays...

  • İ'm living in USA when my friends asked me "where are you from?" i say " ISTANBUL..." Everyone knows this city... Actually it is not problem for us... Constantinople or Istanbul... Because only Greeks use this name... We can tolerate this...

  • First, It is not Istambul... ISTANBUL

That's right ISTANBUL is not a greek name ...

Also,When you came to here you can see this sign "WELCOME to ISTANBUL". Every morning you look own face on the mirror why I use your idiot or stupid words... I think you have to educate yourself cos illiterate is very bad things... tooo pity ....

  • fucking rubish turkish

  • First, Islambol is a made up name that sounds like Istanbul. Second, Istanbul is already a Greek name meaning "to the city".

Third, Ottomans never enforced the name "Istanbul". The city was named Istanbul and Constantinople for centuries.Ottomans never ever attempt to change city's name to Istanbul. Even Mehmed 2, who captured the city, did his best to preserve city's Greek Heritage.

If our Greek friends want to call it as Constantinople, let them do as it reinforces city's Greek heritage.

  • OKay lets say you are right. Why do you have to bring up your argument in this video. This is one of the places you should not bring up the points of argument. Also if you realized the video's title has constantinople and istanbul to call out to everyone in an attempt to bring some type of unison and you gotta fuck with that?

  • As Istamboul it was capital of the Ottoman Empire until 1922; its name was officially changed from Constantinople to Istanbul in 1930.

    this means that from300 -1930(over 1600years)is Constantinople

  • i love peace and truth

  • I see this argument like this. You call Greece "Yunanistan" they do not call themselves that do they? So they should be offended too. But they are probably not. You cannot accuse them for using this name because they know it that way and it is that way in their language. Well I am not sure of that but the my argument is that.

  • you dumbass or what? why would it be disrespectful? Did not the Ottomans use the name Constantinople for a while huh? You gotta learn history first.

  • Nice video :)

Are there any chat rooms for Greeks and Turks? Not the nationalist/fascist ones

    peace xoxox

  • thanks for sharing. but ı cannot understand what does it make difference Constantinople or Istanbul? even the ottomans used th name Konstantiniyye so what is the problem with you? ı am also a turk but dont forget Emperor Constantin established this wonderful city. this city is not only belong to turks but to all world as in Ottoman Empire. selamunaleykum! peace be with you!

  • Thanks for the upload.

  • I cannot believe some of the comments. Please learn something from this video. Look at the people who sing a song and dance together regardless any nation, any bloody history or what so ever... Who cares? This is a music which invites everybody. This is the fact. Constantinople or Istanbul, Greek or Turk... So what? Get a life guys...

  • Share = Steal ?

  • in the culture of istanbul there is nothing kurdish. turkish kurdish problem is something else. in istanbul greek, armenian, jewish, turkish cultures were dominant in the ottoman empire.

  • canim ISTANBUL

  • ωραιο το τραγουδι!

  • you should know that Istanbul is nothing but a defamatory shortening (Istan - polis) to the orriginal name of the city Constantinople. the city is called Constantinople since 330 (by the guy who built it btw.), while Istanbul.... dunno.. after 1453 anyway.

i'm neither Greek nor Turkish, so i'm not part of the nationalistic strife, but i support the Constantinople name as the historically correct name.

  • Somebody going to abroad and get new name. and citizenship.Than you're saying I am calling to you only exname.,I don't accept your new name:)) This is history too..

  • Merci pour la musique, romeikos!

Ou est les mots pour cette chanson?

  • telos panton fevgo gia na min xalaso me tous mogolous

  • And perhaps you should show some respect also and do the courtesy of reading before commenting. I used both names, Constantinople and Istanbul in the title and in the descriptive liner notes I wrote "Greeks of Istanbul" using the Turkish name as I do for most of my notes in my other uploads. And no, I am not a Pontian Greek as you carelessly assumed.

  • Sorry, the above is a response to one of the early comments of Ottoman29. For other viewers and commentators in general, my uploads are simply to show the points of contact and commonality in the genre of music between Greeks and Turks. There is no hidden nationalist agenda here and I wish the extreme nationalists on all sides would take their verbal fight to some other forum. At least show some respect to yourselves and others and write without resorting to insults, swears and filthy language.

  • You are a plain illiterate ignorant, senseless too.

How old are you, about 4?

  • greeks, turks, kurds, armenians...

i think they have no difference

because they are all just human

    they have personalities

and they have many cultural things we can learn so please dont kill peace

i got no more energy against fascit racist bastards

just peace and satisfied mind please

i beleive someday our childs ll learn our neighbors history armenian got a history greek and kurd and turks researched their culture and share their culture with them

    sory for my drunk english

  • Constantinople and Istanbul sound very similar, when u say it they both rhyme..i bet the turks changed it so it sounded 'turkish' just like they want to change everything! i hate them for their blatant racism.

  • Constantinople=Konstantinoupoli/s (Greek)=Poli/s (Greek)

Istanbul=Eis tin Poli (Greek)=To (the) Poli

  • • Türkçeye Yunancadan alınmış kent adlarında rastlanan eis öneki, Osmanlıca nefs-i filan tamlamasıyla ifade edilen, vilayet merkezi olan yerleşimi anlatır. Karş. eis Nikaían > İznik (iç İznik, nefs-i İznik), eis Ámison > Samsun vb.

  • it is not my problem, it is a fact.

and the word Islambol, which you claim to be the root of Istanbul is only a folk-etymological adaptation of the greek word Istanbul and it was created only after the conquest of the city.

and what makes cultures rich is accumulation and diversity, not who rules it politically, in your case 'who owns it'!

anyway, do a bit of research before you start talking nonsense next time!

  • stambol/istambol ~ Yun stēn póli < Yun eis tēn póli şehir içi, iç şehir, Galataya kıyasla İstanbulun sur içi bölümüne verilen ad & Yun eís iç + Yun ē pólis şehir, özellikle Konstantin kenti, İstanbul " eis+, politik

  • Comment removed

  • eis tin poli - in the dialect of the bosphorus greeks it sounded like eis (=is) din boli = istanbul.

  • Hellooo!?! The name Istanbul is etymologyically greek, too!!!

if you're soo keen on owning something, why don't you invent a turkish name then? Maybe the rest of the world would follow your genious idea!

Usually people who make such ignorant comments are not even from Istanbul. If you were truly familiar with the cultural heritage of this city, you would appreciate everything about its history and inhabitants, and know that this is not a fucking football game with winners and losers.

  • the name Istanbul which you are so sensitive about, is etymologically greek!

I'm so sick of this nationalist bullshit, what fucking difference does it make if a city is called Kostantinoupoli or Istanbul. Both are names that have historically been used for a long time for a city, which has an amazing history and culture. And Greek heritage is as much valuable as the Ottoman heritage in the city. At least do a bit of reading and research before making ignorant comments!

  • my friend i would agree if the greek goverment and turist guides didnt present the greek (even roman) monuments as ancient turkish!like ancient theatres, temples etc (temples of zeus!)...

  • me arostenei aytos o parallilismos,

ayti i diamahi guro apo tin taytotita,

ola ayta ta pou ,pos, kai giati!

    me koyrazei i anthropini vlakeia

  • of course the greeks build it who else did you think would build it?

  • in my book it will always be called Kostantinoupoli

  • Yeah right...:D

You fu..ed the conversation to death...hhahahahaha...

  • I can... Kostantinoupoli... If you ask me I will say it like this...

  • I think he did it on purpose, Pondiac greeks have suffered the most by Ottomans and Turks. So do not search for respect in their words for the turkish nation. Also, if the name i sin both languages there is respect. Is just that turkish citizens are so hardly tought that cannot accept other views, this is not our or my problem.

If for example there's a greek song about that city even if it is international or not, will be still called Kostantinoupoli. If a Turkish writes a same song is Istanbul

  • Dear Mr/Mrs.

I have to inform you that in greek the city is called Kostantinupoli. In turkish Istanbul. If you wanna refer to the city name before Ottoman period Istanbul does not exist yet, so then you have to use Kostantinupoli or the oldest nans Vizantion. Is about how a launguage ues a word and how the collective memory of a country works. For example, when you call a greek in englih is "greek", in turkish is "yunan" and in greek is "hellinas" or "Hellin". So, most turkish are toucht wrong.

  • I'm so happy that you all make bridges. May we continue in this work.

    Nikos

  • thank you for the post. it is beatiful. I am Turkish and Greeks are part of our identity.
