Dakota Fanning to play Jane in "New Moon"?

i think jodelle ferland should have been cast as Jane because she fit the description so well.

I think Dakota is a fantastic actress for her age, but in regards to her being cast as Jane I think it was just a publicity stunt.

In twilight they pushed the fact that they wanted unknown actors to play these characters and then they went and cast someone as famous as Dakota Fanning. You do the math...

alright, you know what I think? I think everyone should give her a chance - we should judge when we actually SEE the movie! I think it's wrong to judge her before we actually see her as Jane. Personally, she's probably going to do a good job! if you've seen Hide & Seek, you'll know what I mean. Yeah, Jodelle Ferland was a good pick for Jane, but she auditioned and didn't get the part - it happens all the time. So give it a rest, guys. Dakota's cast, and there's no sense in complaining about it.

How would you know that Dakota wouldn't do a good job.You do realize that half of the cast don't make the same effect as their characters in the book. It's all makeup and acting ability. And in her what 15 years of life, she's done more than all of the actors in twilight combined. Not everyone thought Kristen Stewart could pull off Bella... but obviously they were all wrong. people should just not talk about the ability of amazing actors until they see how they do in the movie.

In my opinion, I don't see anything wrong with famous actors getting roles in twillight. They will have way more acting experience when it comes to different scenes just because of their experience on the big screen, and usually movies with unknown actors do not do aswell because the audience is not fimilar with their talents unlike dakota fanning who has done many great movies. But I understand where you are coming from also.

well it all depends on how you read the sentence, "the body under the cloak..." because the way i read it i thought it was talking about the cloak. and i'm pretty sure when they describe alec, her twin, there isn't anything about dark skin. plus, the movie isn't 100% like the book, james wasn't supposed to have long blonde hair, and laurent is supposed to have "olive-toned" skin, and when i think of olive toned skin i don't think it's as dark as his is in the movie. oh well, i could be wrong

idk its a close call. When Bella described Jane she said she was as tiny as Alice. She was slim and androgynous. The only time Jane was referred to a child was when she smiles. "Jane smiled; the expression made her look like an angelic child" The book really don't get to much into detail about her. I think she will pull it off, just have to darken and shorten her hair and she'd be okay. Only thing I hope don't happen is they use Dakota for publicity for the movie..

Uhm what the hell you guys, isn't Jane older than that? I was kinda hoping that they would keep the series more indie like the first, but better. If you throw in someone like Dakota fanning, or even Vanessa Hudgens (who was rumored to play leah) it'd would unbalance it, and I don't know. I just can't imagine her playing the part. I think she's a good fit. I think Jane was described as being on the smaller side and I always thought of her as being short and young looking. She's supposed to look innocent and thus surprising when she shows how dangerous she really is. I think Dakota could do it.
