Don't bash Catholics. Don't bash any religious groups. Remember there is 2100 years of teaching for Catholics and other Christians. It takes time for all religions to accept others....see how the Buddhist handle things. Just remember the Wiccan Rede. Everyone walks their own path, so walk yours and don't curse others--let them walk their path and, hopefully, all will see and learn.
It's weird how the term christian-wiccan or wiccan-christian is being used more and more nowadays. I think more christians are gravitating towards wicca because of the elemental aspect and respect for nature that was lacking. I mean St. Francis is the only christian I ever heard of who respected ALL life. The ecumenical movement in the Catholic Church seems to be reaching out more and more. Who knows? But I have never seen real Catholics abusing Wiccans, well not in my city.
I for one feel sorry for those who have never felt the flow and freedom of magics power for the most part it isnt their fault they have been brainwashed and lied to since early childhood into believing these things we can only continue setting a good example as wiccans and hope they see the truth
I grew up in a christian family (i'm 15 now) and I have been a pagan for a year or so now. but I've always been scared to tell my family the truth because they wouldn't accept me the way I am I just wish ppl would stop being so stupid and just listen to what we really are you know we deserve to believe in what we want so why do we always get accused of devil worshipping and such I mean I don't even believe devil exists!!

For accused belief and worship of the devil- whom I don't believe in. Plus it would be stupid if I did. I hated when my mom accused me of being "A Pagan Devil Worshipper" especially when I don't even BELIEVE in him in the first place. You can't worship something you don't believe in.

One reason I think for people thinking Wicca is satan worship is because they think the pentagram is related to him. Though its not at all. The only reason it came to be might be because of christian groups saying anything that wasn't christian devil worship, OR dumb little goth kids carving it into their arm, thinking its related to satan. Now im not saying people who are Goth are dumb, just that some will blindly follow things without really researching it or looking it up.

I myself have only started delving into Wicca in the last couple months or so, with the help of a good friend who is a practicing Wiccan. Anyways, I've always thought that it was unfair how people automatically associated paganism with satanism. I understand that, but being Wicca and being Pagan is different. Wicca is basically a cleaned up version of old Pagan practices. The old school Pagans, like the Celtics, were ruthless they killed people in the name of religion. Wiccans don't. So... I say Pagan is an umbrella term.
where did you get your information about Pagan's killing people in the name of religion? the majority of my family is pagan and i was brought up on pagan lore and the time when pagan's killed people was when the Crusades came and burned their villages and they fought in self defense. you don't think that wars were fought over religion before the Christians? the Norse fought to appease there gods, Romans and Greeks fought for their gods. Aztecs had mass human sacrifice, and i mean in the hundreds, to appease there gods. Egyptians killed people, the Celts killed people, Christians didn't introduce religious wars, they just added to it, and stopped it for the most part in Europe
The old Pagans of Britain (the real Britons) did many sacrifices, human and animal. And Paganism does not have a law as it is not a religion. I do believe that Paganism is simply a religion (generally out of the norm) that has more than one diety.

Its like saying every christian raped little boys, or that every christian has tried to burn someone to death. You see what I mean. I am not mixing up 'Neo'-paganism and 'historical' paganism. Catholics no exist anymore. I live in a nominal catholic country and religious shops sell images and books of catholic saints, pagan gods and demons of gremoria and nobody thinks anythiong about it. In my country xtians, jews moslems, pagans and devil worshipers all live in harmony.
@warriorforthelight well, the USA is a horrible example, you go a a few miles out of the way and everything is different, ya, there are allot of Catholics, but there are allot of every religion in America. In my town, i know there are Catholics, Christians, wiccans, satanists, Jehovah wittiness's , a few other pagan religions. Jew's, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindu's, agnostics, and Atheists.
@kerrahn This is why I, as an atheist, feel i can relate to the pagan community. It bothers me to no end when others completely misrepresent my opinions and ideals. I like how pagans, as i see it, are relatively passive, and don't feel it necessary that everyone else share their beliefs. I can relate to that.

Yeah- I agree. My dad who is Christain hates and despises my choice of being Wiccan or rather Wiccan Christain. He says witches never helped anyone- ahem YES they have. This is a very open video, I just had to put my two cents in,I still as of yet not told my family that I am wiccan but with an open heart embrace this video and have hope that in the future that we can get along no matter what our beliefs, life is to short to condemn those around us for not trying to understand each other.
There are a lot of conflicting theories about this subject - just why not sit back and make your own way around it. If you are truly wiccan you will listen only unto yourself as to what you actually believe in and no one else. The path is not straight; it meanders, it branches off, take whatever you feel is the one for you.

had the devil in me" by several nuns. I gave up on being good. I was amazed to see while serving the USMarines how many guys who claimed Jesus the Lord Christ as their savior getting off on torture training. I have been a liminal nomad between those two worlds ever since. By the way, torture in the military is real. There are many "christians" in our gov't who advocate it.

Very beautiful, video. good job especially for a first time video. I raised my children Wiccan and they have experienced some hate from others but that just shows them that they are on the right path, they like their beliefs of peace and love alot more than what they see of others. We are the way of the future and our hope will inspire others to hope.

It's really hard to grow up pagan. I have been teased in school for 6 years. I am now violent and crude but I don't want to be. I have been called saitenist and even sometimes saiten. My own friends have turned against me. Most of the people who have been teasing me are Catholic. Not that I don't resect you but if you are out there and you despise Pagans, NOCK IT OFF!!!!

that's not really a fair comment though. that's a stereotype, and not EVERY christian is a hate monger. I actually know quite a few christians that are very accepting of what I practice, and habitually ask me questions about it, taking the time to find out what it's about and the whys and hows of what I do. I know a few that are very open minded to the point where they have even watched me do ceremonies and thought it was a beautiful ceremony that shows my love for the divine.
Agreed, most Catholics also see alot of their feast days on the same lunar celebrations as Wiccans. Christian hate happens as all religious hatred does when people get inflated egos about their views. Like all Wiccas are not satan-worshipers not all Christians are closed minded haters.

You're correct, Pagans don't believe in an 'ultimate good' or 'ultimate evil' types things, including Satan. When you think about it, Satanists worship themselves, not Satan, so people are way off when they talk like that.
Christians took the horned god, "photo-shopped" him, and then presented the bastardized version to Christians as the physical embodiment of everything evil.
Historically speaking, Zoroastrianism "stole" your holidays from you. And it isn't as much stealing, as it is blending, distilling, and changing. Not all Christians are hateful people, get that fact right. If you were to spend time researching the history of Christianity you would be less hateful towards them.

@music1012008 - I wouldn't go so far as to consider it theft. Christians follow Yule and Eostre. However, I don't think they stole them, rather borrowed them to keep common ground between The Old Religion and Christ. Now, it's been a modern invention for Protestants to run around on Easter and X-mas and shove "Jesus is the reason" in people's face. But it is a religious fad that will eventually die off when Christians realize that people aren't buying into the coercion.

honestly, if a 'friend' makes fun of you for your beliefs, they are not your friend at all. I'd tell them, well you can support me, or i can just not be your friend anymore, your choice.

I'd say just talk it out, same advice I give everyone, don't bash them over the head with anything, find commen ground with beliefs and never tell them that their beliefs are wrong. That's about all the advice i can give you. Take it slow, feel it out, edjucate them as much as possible, but don't rush it in, you have your whole life to talk to them about what you believe.
My family is filled with such devout Christians that I haven't told my parents I'm Pagan. That may not seem like a big deal at first, but I'm a sophomore in college and I converted in middle school. The few times I dropped little hints about my religion, my parents' hearts just about stopped. You could smell the panic in the room. What should I do?
Try to find common ground, and start from there, and just have a heart to heart going from common ground out, don't bash them over the head with it, take your time, even if it takes months or years, just take it slow, take your time, and feel it out.
I have faith that even though I may not know your Parents, that we all have the God and Goddess within us. Take faith in the Divine in them and yourself and stand proud.
My father is an Anglo-Catholic Priest and he has grown close to my faith. He calls me up and asks me what I think about certain issues in the Bible, yes I have one and I do read it (I also have the Qur'an and the Jewish Scriptures as well as Hindu and Buddhist Sutras.)
they say we have freedom of religion but ask anyone in politics what god they worship and you'll get the same answer everytime that is why I am attemping to start the fisrst ever pagan run television network so we can clear away the truth from the lies

I was a Catholic from when i was born untill just a few weeks ago, now im pagan and proud of it! most people that kno im pagan will turn there nose to me and most of the people i have told all tell me im going to hell, but i just laugh and tell them its hard to go to hell when you dont beleve in it!!! One reason I think for people thinking Wicca is satan worship is because they think the pentagram is related to him. Though its not at all. The only reason it came to be might be because of christian groups saying anything that wasn't christian devil worship, OR dumb little goth kids carving it into their arm, thinking its related to satan. Now im not saying people who are Goth are dumb, just that some will blindly follow things without really researching it or looking it up.

I understand that, but being Wicca and being Pagan is different. Wicca is basically a cleaned up version of old Pagan practices. The old school Pagans, like the Celtics, were ruthless they killed people in the name of religion. Wiccans don't. So... I say Pagan is an umbrella term.

you don't think that wars were fought over religion before the Christians? the Norse fought to appease there gods, Romans and Greeks fought for their gods. Aztecs had mass human sacrifice, and i mean in the hundreds, to appease there gods. Egyptians killed people, the Celts killed people, Christians didn't introduce religious wars, they just added to it, and stopped it for the most part in Europe

The old Pagans of Britain (the real Britons) did many sacrifices, human and animal. And Paganism does not have a law as it is not a religion. I do believe that Paganism is simply a religion (generally out of the norm) that has more than one diety.

depends on the sect, the region and the group actually. To generalize and say EVERY pagan did this, is a gross overestimation. Its like saying every christian raped little boys, or that every christian has tried to burn someone to death. You see what I mean. I am not mixing up 'Neo'-paganism and 'historical' paganism. I am simply not painting every pagan past present or future with the same broad brush.

Catholics no exist anymore. I live in a nominal catholic country and religious shops sell images and books of catholic saints, pagan gods and demons of gremoria and nobody thinks anythiong about it. In my country xtians, jews moslems, pagans and devil worshipers all live in harmony.

In my town, i know there are Catholics, Christians, wiccans, satanists, Jehovah wittiness's , a few other pagan religions. Jew's, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindu's, agnostics, and Atheists.

If you are truly wiccan you will listen only unto yourself as to what you actually believe in and no one else. I was amazed to see while serving the USMarines how many guys who claimed Jesus the Lord Christ as their savior getting off on torture training. It's really hard to grow up pagan. I have been teased in school for 6 years. I am now violent and crude but I don't want to be. I have been called saitenist and even sometimes saiten. My own friends have turned against me. Most of the people who have been teasing me are Catholic. Not that I don't resect you but if you are out there and you despise Pagans, NOCK IT OFF!!!!

that's not really a fair comment though. that's a stereotype, and not EVERY christian is a hate monger. I actually know quite a few christians that are very accepting of what I practice, and habitually ask me questions about it, taking the time to find out what it's about and the whys and hows of what I do. I know a few that are very open minded to the point where they have even watched me do ceremonies and thought it was a beautiful ceremony that shows my love for the divine.

Historically speaking, Zoroastrianism "stole" your holidays from you. And it isn't as much stealing, as it is blending, distilling, and changing. Not all Christians are hateful people, get that fact right. If you were to spend time researching the history of Christianity you would be less hateful towards them.

@music1012008 - I wouldn't go so far as to consider it theft. Christians follow Yule and Eostre. However, I don't think they stole them, rather borrowed them to keep common ground between The Old Religion and Christ. Now, it's been a modern invention for Protestants to run around on Easter and X-mas and shove "Jesus is the reason" in people's face. But it is a religious fad that will eventually die off when Christians realize that people aren't buying into the coercion.

I'd say just talk it out, same advice I give everyone, don't bash them over the head with anything, find commen ground with beliefs and never tell them that their beliefs are wrong. That's about all the advice i can give you. Take it slow, feel it out, edjucate them as much as possible, but don't rush it in, you have your whole life to talk to them about what you believe.

My family is filled with such devout Christians that I haven't told my parents I'm Pagan. That may not seem like a big deal at first, but I'm a sophomore in college and I converted in middle school. The few times I dropped little hints about my religion, my parents' hearts just about stopped. You could smell the panic in the room. What should I do?

I have faith that even though I may not know your Parents, that we all have the God and Goddess within us. Take faith in the Divine in them and yourself and stand proud.
My father is an Anglo-Catholic Priest and he has grown close to my faith. He calls me up and asks me what I think about certain issues in the Bible, yes I have one and I do read it (I also have the Qur'an and the Jewish Scriptures as well as Hindu and Buddhist Sutras.)
