so this is the fallout 3 before 2008 i cant believe how much it failed :o. but its better they made there gamemaking better for REAL FIRST PERSOn 3d games
I like fallout 1, 2 , and tactics but im glad bethesda bought the rights to the game. Fallout 3 and New vegas are easily two or the best games ive ever played. easily beating out the "new" cods, Battlefield, and other games. In my opinion(notice i said my)fallout 3, NV are right up there with games like red dead redemption, Little big planet, Uncharted, inFAMOUS,Gears of war, La noire, n other games. but 4 all you people who like the originals theres still a chance of fallout online by interplay

@ruffeeh why is fallout dead? it still has the magic of the old games. its just packaged so the newer gamers are able to enjoy it. of course fallout 2 is better than any other fallout, but i think that because i played it way too much when i was kid. and broke like 3 mouses because i was kid playing fallout 2. but i think fallout is living its golden years, after fallout tactics and brotherhood of steel broke the all-perfect scores of the series.
@ruffeeh f3 is not like fallout or fallout 2, but it still has that same post-apocalyptic adventure feel to it, and when i first played fallout 3 it felt like the older games, despite being different genre.
dont like new fallout games then, i dont care about your opinion, but how many modern gamers would want to play fallout 1 or 2? they would be scared because of the difficulty and disgusted by the graphics. it would be just a game for special gamers, like the eschalon book series is now.
@JURPO90 If it feels the same to you, it only proves you didn't quit understand Fallout's dark, cynical plot and countless humourous deviations it included. Neither can be found in FO3. The dialogue system it uses wouldn't even allow for any of that. What exactly are you going on about? The "post-apocalyptic adventure feel" in Fallout 3 is SO dumbed down that it doesn't even remotely resemble that of Fallout's. I'd rather stick to elves, dwarves and dragons.
@ruffeeh maybe its dumbed down and maybe its full on copy of oblivion with lots of guns and gray stuff. sure, it lacks the humor and the special system is stripped down a bit. maybe the world just ends on invisible barriers. and its still flawed, glitchy and damn fun to play, like fallout 2 was for me at least. i thought that the series died when i played brotherhood of steel on xbox. think what you think, im just going to fire up my xbox and finish mothership zeta and wait for fallout online.
@JURPO90 Uhh, sure. I've decided to stop halfway through my second playthrough with all the new DLC after realizing it was a huge waste of time and simply started a new Fallout 2 game with Restoration Patch. Since I've beaten it only a couple of times before, and never modded, it was a great, refreshing, intellectual experience. I'd gladly do that again with another mod, rather than finishing Fallout 3 for the second time. And come on, Xbox?
@ruffeeh my pc sucks so bad it actually cant run fallout 3, but every other pc fallout (including new vegas).
and now that you mentioned, i need to google that restoration patch and get my old pc that has f2 installed, win 7 and intel graphics makes the sprites glitchy.
I would play it.But Obsidian and Black Isle just know make Games bugged as Hell and the same fucking games over the years.Looks to fallout new vegas.is the same morrowind engine.A 10 years engine!
@Frocharocha its not the same engine as morrowmind :P thats just silly, its the same as oblivion, a 6 year old engine but with updated software to make it better
The menue screen and interface look exactly the same as in Fallout 1 and 2. At least Bethesda revolutionised the series and the universe. They just need to nail the charm of the first games. F3 is still great though.
Oh and I like it how people preffer to stick to Fallout 2D because thats the only gamestyle they like in Fallout. But you cant hide the truth that if fallout hadn't gone 3D it would of either gone old and boring or would of never gotten the amount of FanBoys it has today. Thats kinda like DukeNukem it wouldv'e gotten boring fast if they didnt make it 3D.

@DanzingZombiez ... All Fallout games were rendered in 3D. The first 2 games were released somewhere in 1995 and if the game was full 3D none of the computers of that time could run the game, so they had to make the 3D rendered as 2D. True, Fallout Tactics was rendered in 2D too, but was released in somewhere 2000, however, I really do like the looks of the game. Better to have a good 2D, than bad 3D.
I haven't never played Fallout 1 and 2 but I played about 10 years ago some game what looked like fallout 2 and I kinda see that people like fallout 1 and 2 but seriously.. Who would want to play 2d shooting game today? I don't think that the makers of fallout 1,2 planned to make 2d game in 2005 or something D: I'm pretty sure that they planned to make Fallout 3 pretty much like it is now but with different game engine and all, but looks like that they didn't have money to even start it :/
For the modern day, yes. Fallout was never a first-person shooter. It was always a top-down, turn based RPG. This is why so many original fans hate it.
Black Isle did a great job with Fallout 1&2 from what I've seen. I havent played either, but I do plan to sometime in the future. And all of you people saying that Fallout 3 is a bad game, I can only bow my head down in shame. Fallout 3 is a great game, with a deep storyline that really pulled you in and made you feel as if you were the wastelander.
I am glad that Bethesda got their hands on the rights, as I loved oblivion - And Fallout new vegas is the best game I have ever played.

@MotoXprt I think the main reason for all the fallout 3 hate has to do with the fact that it is not very faithful to its source material. Had it been called anything other than fallout, I'm sure that most fallout fans would have loved it. New Vegas is more faithful to fallout 1 & 2.
As for oblivion *eyes twitching* it was so watered down compared to previous entries in the series. Here they remained faithful to the setting but made the gameplay a lot worse.
@Xsult59 Never even played it have you? You may not like the Bethesda build, but that game is not mainstream. Although, I do agree with you, the story for Van Buren was much better than the Bethesda one.
I never tried any of the older fallouts, but I thought fallout 3 was good. Im happy bethesda remade the game cause I could never get into games based on a 3rd person style (except for gears, that was the shit)
@Xsult59 how could you say that fallout 3 was mainstream? It was the very first, first person shooter-RPG that was actually good and if a game that isnt mainstream becomes mainstream, you're admitting that you hate a game for that sole reason. I'll admit i loved fallout 1 and 2, but 3 just far surpassed them, in story and gameplay.
In Fallout 3 I was able to get the DLCs for free with the PC version. What you do is have a friend with the DLCs get the GECK editor and export the DLCs as .ESM files. Then you copy them and plug them into your game (the same way that you would install modded content from Nexus forums; by the way, a lot of the new stuff in New Vegas looks like a lot of the modded content on Nexus). But anyway, DLCs can be free with PC version. May be they did not fix this issue?
Now this is how Fallout 3 should have been. A game that relied on good story, detail, good character creation an excellent use of character stats. Plus they good have kept the graphics lower and the game would have been playable on more systems. That means more games sold. Especially given this decaded economy. But Noooo bethesda had to make a graphical graphics whores wet dream. They completely ruined the game. The gun skill is fucking useless seeing as you can just aim like you would in a FPS.
@GameFanism Fallout 1&2 Low Gun's Skill=More misses...Fallout 3 Low Gun's Skill=Dosent matter for shit...Only for sniping, and thats just a little...I like Fallout 1&2's take on it better...
@max10293847566 Fallout 1 and 2 required more skill and thinking. Those 2 are my favorite RPGs and my favorite games. They are much better games then Fallout 3 which is a dumbed down FPS IMO. They really screwed that game up.
@GameFanism Exactly...If your going to take stealth as your play style, you have to think about what to do...In Fallout 3...Does it matter? I tried a stealth playthrough, didnt help for shit...It was still "Go here, speak to him, murder this..." Its not that Fallout 3 is bad, but I still like Fallout 1 and 2 WAY better...
@max10293847566 They even ripped the strategy element out of making a character. I do not like to play as stealth much. But my biggest complaint is the gun skill was made useless IMO. You could just manually aim instead. In Fallout 1 and 2 it felt like it had more impact. I could be wrong. But it felt like the small gun skill had no real effect in Fallout 3.

@NeoTheo9 True. whether people like it or not if it wasn't for fallout 3 the franchise would be forgoten. here in greece almost no1 knew about the serries and then fallout 3 comes out. now all of my friends have played fallout 3 and fallout 1 and 2 came again in stores and many people have bought them. i personally like all fallout games (favourite is 3 tho :P) but either way fallout 3 is a fantastic game in the serries. old funs don't like it cause it is Action-RPG instead of just RPG...
looks great, but i gotta say, fallout 3 is a totally different game, they should have released both imo, for the die hard fans and for the newcomers..
@imissdanivan2 This was a canceled project, they could not release both games because Black Isle when down and Bethesda purchased the Fallout rights, i would rather have this than Fallout 3 thou, Fallout 3 is just anther pig in the crap that is mainstream games today and the kids today are the slop.

@danne579 I like Fallout 3 as a modern RPG, i just hate it when people think its as good as games as Morrowind, Fallout 1,2, and Baulders Gate, mainly i hate most of its fanbase, its comprised of 12-14 kids who just got out of the hole and need to look at past Fallout's, which is great, but considering they are narrow minded graphics whores all they do is say old games suck just cause it has outdated graphics.

@danne579 For some reason i always went back to Oblivion or Morrowind when i played Fallout 3, just seamed more feeling was put into those games, and for Diablo i see where you are getting the comparison, but it was the feel of the games that made them unique.

I couldn't agree more fallout 3 does suck ass it's just random exploring with a shitty story and little explanation. "T_T. Fallout 1 and 2 are currently my favorite games. @Ericzeppe Actually Fallout 1 was not a huge commercial success and neither was Fallout 2. Though I believe 2 did a little better. It was not Doom, or even quake popular. These are just games from around that time period. I also doubt they did as well as the first 2 bouldar gates games on PC. Iam a Fallout fanboy. The first 2 games, the 3rd was watered down crap.
Look Im not guna take a massive dump on the Black Isle styles. they were great and dialog unparalleled and still very very good. But what made people like Bethsheda more was it was more freedom. I think in the world of GTA, Assassins Creed and Infamous, if a game is new or if its just looking to be with the times, its gota be a sandbox style. the increasing popularity of the open world toppled classic RPG, yet RPG in the classic style still does exist
As a big fan of fallout 1, 2, & tactics, I loved fallout 3 I think it could have been much worse, but dialogs, action are amazing, and the environment is so big,not to mention the extensions, which make it much bigger...
No, F3 is a very good game, so will be New Vegas I hope...the only thing I hate is that Black Isle isnt part of it no more, and that the Fallout world is not reserved for PC gamers but for console players..and that sucks....

At least there would be more interesting dialogue options and lots of text =) .
It would also be more hardcore, as Fallout 3 has every FPS weakness, Ie:
Spinning around a monster hitting it w/o recieving damage and such.

The first 2 games were released somewhere in 1995 and if the game was full 3D none of the computers of that time could run the game, so they had to make the 3D rendered as 2D. True, Fallout Tactics was rendered in 2D too, but was released in somewhere 2000, however, I really do like the looks of the game. Better to have a good 2D, than bad 3D.

Black Isle did a great job with Fallout 1&2 from what I've seen. I havent played either, but I do plan to sometime in the future. And all of you people saying that Fallout 3 is a bad game, I can only bow my head down in shame. Fallout 3 is a great game, with a deep storyline that really pulled you in and made you feel as if you were the wastelander.
I am glad that Bethesda got their hands on the rights, as I loved oblivion - And Fallout new vegas is the best game I have ever played.

@MotoXprt I think the main reason for all the fallout 3 hate has to do with the fact that it is not very faithful to its source material. Had it been called anything other than fallout, I'm sure that most fallout fans would have loved it. New Vegas is more faithful to fallout 1 & 2.
As for oblivion *eyes twitching* it was so watered down compared to previous entries in the series. Here they remained faithful to the setting but made the gameplay a lot worse.

In Fallout 3 I was able to get the DLCs for free with the PC version. What you do is have a friend with the DLCs get the GECK editor and export the DLCs as .ESM files. Then you copy them and plug them into your game (the same way that you would install modded content from Nexus forums; by the way, a lot of the new stuff in New Vegas looks like a lot of the modded content on Nexus). But anyway, DLCs can be free with PC version. May be they did not fix this issue?

Now this is how Fallout 3 should have been. A game that relied on good story, detail, good character creation an excellent use of character stats. Plus they good have kept the graphics lower and the game would have been playable on more systems. That means more games sold. Especially given this decaded economy. But Noooo bethesda had to make a graphical graphics whores wet dream. They completely ruined the game. The gun skill is fucking useless seeing as you can just aim like you would in a FPS.

@max10293847566 They even ripped the strategy element out of making a character. I do not like to play as stealth much. But my biggest complaint is the gun skill was made useless IMO. You could just manually aim instead. In Fallout 1 and 2 it felt like it had more impact. I could be wrong. But it felt like the small gun skill had no real effect in Fallout 3.

Look Im not guna take a massive dump on the Black Isle styles. they were great and dialog unparalleled and still very very good. But what made people like Bethsheda more was it was more freedom. I think in the world of GTA, Assassins Creed and Infamous, if a game is new or if its just looking to be with the times, its gota be a sandbox style. the increasing popularity of the open world toppled classic RPG, yet RPG in the classic style still does exist

As a big fan of fallout 1, 2, & tactics, I loved fallout 3 I think it could have been much worse, but dialogs, action are amazing, and the environment is so big,not to mention the extensions, which make it much bigger...
No, F3 is a very good game, so will be New Vegas I hope...the only thing I hate is that Black Isle isnt part of it no more, and that the Fallout world is not reserved for PC gamers but for console players..and that sucks....
