2 minutes for a 5 second drag is a bit much...

  • yikes.....

  • 0:00 - 1:45 Preparing to run

    1:45 - 1:55 Running

  • mazzi togo

  • click on this to see the race 1:44

  • it's a F16 with no wings!!!!

  • holly shit D:

  • olokooo LOL

  • there loud but omg there awsome

  • @GabiQ3 well....I'd hardly call a 1,000+hp W16 a "normal car engine". Also, they can't get anywhere close to this speed. These dragsters can break 400 on a good day, and that's on a 1/4 mile track. A Bugatti couldn't hit 300 no matter what you did to it.

  • 1st part,so slowww 2nd part,HOLY COW

  • *Imagines if the put the wings on*

  • Jet Car<Top Fuel!! Enough said.

  • spettacolare

  • DAMN now they will beat the sonic the hedgehog and speed racer at sames times

  • HOLY SHIT

  • What's with the white smoke? I've never seen a jet with white smoke, it's always blackish-brown. Is it different from aviation jet fuel? And it looks like they're using the afterburner to inch up to the starting line? Is that because a jet engine has such shitty throttle response? I'm just trying to figure out how they work; they must put the engine at full power and hold the brakes, then light the burner right before the light goes green and let off the brakes?

  • @justforever96 The fuel is usually diesel or kerosene, which more or less is the same as Jet-A.

All the smoke is the afterburner not lit but with the fuel still being added, as the fuel is injected onto the hot air after it leaves the turbine stage, it smokes. Nothing more than a show. Same as the burner pops to the line, the turbine is at high throttle, both brakes are held (front and rear), and the burner is lit momentarily. And how you assumed they left the line is correct.

  • @craigslikker Does the fuel they dump into the jetpipe (not lit) after the turbine actually burn, or does it just boil off? I notice the "smoke" seems to dissipate rapidly, more like steam. If that's the case, it must leave some nasty residue on things behind it!

  • @justforever96 its unburned fuel being dumped out of the afterburner before its lit, its mostly jsut to show off for the crowd along with the burner pops, these engines has excellent response and the fastest ive personally seen a jet rail run is high 4s at 330 mph or so

  • those things are LOUD! i was there when they has "Jersey Thunder"

  • cant imagine the g's

  • aaaagh wow that was really fast!!

  • DAMN! xD

  • Oh i would pay a lot to see it go off at 00:39

  • 1:43 i just saved you a min of your life.

  • i prefer my M5 though...

  • 6 people were overwhelmed by the awesomeness, had seizures and accidentally clicked the dislike button. Our thoughts are with them.

  • @khayes874 LOL!

  • did anyone see the windows on the building shake when the red and yellow jet put fire out first because i did i think it was the sonic boom from when they put out the fire like that.

  • @matthewmarrs123 Theres no sonic boom, its the thrust from the afterburner. Something has to exceed the speed of sound to create a sonic boom.

  • do you still have your hearing?

  • But supercars have regular car engines and can take up to the same high speeds as a dragster, but not as good acceleration .. With the same soup on a Bugatti, Dagger .. This is the Bugatti, Colleges ranked.

  • pure thrust, that insane power

  • thats crazy. a supra can run 7 seconds. All that money for just 2 seconds. hmm

  • @CelticsFanBoy92 I've never seen a supra go 7 seconds in my life.

  • @craigslikker Yeah that's BS. A Supra could hit 9 on a great day with amazing tuning.

  • idiots shoulda wormd up the tires lol

  • @Inklebonker1 nsd troll is bad

  • @MyFatty69 what? you know i was just kidding right?

  • they arent as fast as they look cause of safty regs

  • GERONIMOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!! mdrrr

  • Took them long enough to stage.

  • I race the jr. Dragsters at English town and I know the GIRL that drives the car in the left lane(: it's so much fun!

  • Its so fun waching those things fly by that fast

  • impressive

  • For that it throws so much smoke?

  • youtube new layout is shit.

  • @Thetruthishere11 Laydown with ur mother was shittyer than youtube new looks :D

  • When I use to go to ENglishtown they let you go to the end of the track and stand right at the fence when the nitro cars crossed the finish line.

There was only a concrete divider and a chain link fence between you and the line.

  • if it can put a motor only for the start and th jet for the rest of the track they can do2 or 3 secs :D

  • It is so sad that these races only last a few seconds

  • I was just there for the Motorsports Spectacular on September when they had the jet cars and the shockwave jet truck. Out of curiousity, what is required in order to sit at the spot you were (those metal bleachers, when you took this video? I always wind up sitting further to the left, half way between the starting and finish line.

  • You really need balls of steel to ride that shit!

  • Saw jet truck knock clocks off walls in building doing his pre stage fire show. Rumor is ET will close in 2012 after homes built around track won their case in court. I hope not. Been going there since they opened and raced there in the 70's.

  • Best fealing in the world is if you get the chance go stand were all the guys in blue shirts are. right in the middle of the two! I got to do that when I workesd at the local dragstrip and its wild!

  • the jet engine is the way to go. no wheel spinning. straight headings. these engines will also be very problem free unlike gas piston engines. notice who wins in offshore racing...

  • Die gehen so pervers ab.. =D

  • I cannot even begin to imagine the acceleration you would feel driving one of those. That is NUTS!

  • Compared to a top fueler, that's a pretty soft launch. Look up any video on YouTube of a modern top fueler or funny car and you'll see real acceleration. That jet car gets after it but again, it's a pretty soft launch by comparison.

  • @SaintGnarly of course its soft the power comes from thrust, a top fuelers power comes from the mechanical rotation of the wheels, a fuel car has a similar amount of acceleration all the way down the track, this car the acceleration just keeps building all the way down, 1/4 mile times and speeds are very similar for these

  • Holy mother of shit!!! Thats insanity!

  • pollution on world?

  • dude i wanna drive that beast of a car!

  • lol i wouldnt call that a car, i'd call it a missile with wheels :)

  • ha true that lol

  • WHOOOOOHOHOHOHOHOHO!!!!! :D

  • HOLY CRAP!!!!! that looked faster than 5 seconds. WOW

  • zoom zoom zoom

  • I fucking love jet cars

  • @ajoryan8

    I love fucking too

  • @ajoryan8 So does my audiologist - they keep him in business.

  • im not even joking, my science teacher use to drive the queen od diamonds (left lane). until she got married. then she became a science teacher. kinda a lame profession compared to drag racing.

  • hhahaha

why would you stop reacing and become a science trachier

  • i was here today

    one went 305mph

  • what the one that lost haha justrace

  • sounds like he broke up with you, cause your bragging a lot for being his ex

  • But... you're a dude, and this guys son was your boyfriend?

  • sounds like u sock !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i was right next to you yester day if you went on june 7

  • i was there yesterday.. but this video was taken 1 year ago ..

  • ya i was there too old video

  • I'll be there this saturday May 30 for the Night of Thrills at the Top End Zone, I will have video from the event.

  • wow that was one of the best videos i have seen on here

  • The fastest jet car did a 3 second pass in the 1970s

  • that was sammy miller in a rocket powered car, not a jet car.

  • Anyone seen the Races Down Santa Pod Raceway THERE AWESOME

  • HA! my sister knows her LOL(driver of car in near lane)

  • Nitro-Dragsters can do 4-sec quarters...

  • nitro dragsters are the fastest accelerating machine that is manmade

  • in the quarter mile... the jet cars are just getting started and then shut down...those jets were meant to run upwards of 900MPH+

Over a longer distance, the jet car would still be accelerating after the top fuel car had melted-down.

  • your right..... we just dont have long enough drag strips and there is'nt any drivers brave enough either to leave that throtle engaged! ha ha but THRUST SSC proves your point.

  • That is completely true... The jet car would be the fastest car in the world but from a stop to 1/4 mile.. the top fuel'ers would take the win. Regardless of the facts JETCARS are awesome to see! I love the sound of the engines starting.
