  • can you do a bass lesson on this song ?

  • well done mate

  • Id really love to see you play some old Incubus (Fungus Amongus or S.C.I.E.N.C.E Album) if you can play some slap bass of course ;)

  • What kind of camera u use? and how did u get it to pick up the bass so clearly?

  • @MALSTRUMX please read my profile page.

  • I've recently started playing bass but i switched from a guitar and after watching some your videos, i've been wondering. When you learn the song, do you learn the tabs for it or do you learn to play it by ear?

  • @Met4lH3ad22 by ear, I almost never use tabs. I don't care if I miss one note or so :)

  • That's a nice tone you're pumping out. What sort of equipment do you use to make your bass sound like that

  • cool u do chains too i only knew your tool videos

  • DUDE YOU ARE F@K!N BEAST AT THIS

    keep makin more

  • what tuning are you in?

  • why is it such a bad thing that he plays with a pick, honestly i think it sounds better.

  • hey i would love to see NIB by Black Sabbath :)

  • do u think you could do frogs by alice in chains next. or maybey clown by korn ?

  • can tab this out

  • I love you ? lol

  • Looks a lot easier to play than standard tuning

  • Is the guy in the corner "Rubbing one out?"

  • @seattlehawkins definitely

  • Hey, dude, your videos are extremely helpful. Thanks for making clear, well recorded videos.

  • Yo i'm just curious, do you always play with a pick? I mean no offense, but I'm just curious.

  • @flea0chilipeppers you don't seem to be curious enough to check my other video though :p

  • @flea0chilipeppers Pwnd newb

  • @flea0chilipeppers Mike uses a pick douche'! He is obviously keeping his cover real kid.

  • @Ikillpeopleforfree Mike Inez uses a pick. Mike Starr, who recorded this song, to my knowledge only used a pick on "Would?".

  • Awesome song and a great job on your playing. You really make it easy to see the notes that are played. Thanks!!

  • alice in chains always play in e flat or drop d flat. you seen to be playing in standard d. you're not wrong cos you're still playing the same notes just seemed a little weird to me

  • when i play this song I just drop everything half a step and it plays fine.. your playing lower on the neck and there are a few open notes which just makes it easier for me (i have bad carpel tunnel)

  • tuning??

  • @CTHARDCORE606 nah, I prefer my car to stay normal

  • @remiiiiiii lol..ok so thats a standard joke right?

  • @CTHARDCORE606 :p

I can't remember the tuning, I think it was a standard EADG, or maybe a drop D. Try both ! :)

  • @remiiiiiii thanks :)

  • @remiiiiiii its actuallyt a half step down so Eb Ab Db and Gb

  • @CTHARDCORE606 It's probably E flat because that's usual grunge tuning and "Alice" tuning.

  • @CTHARDCORE606 i think its tuned flat EbAbDbGb..... but in this video he is tuned standard. because his notes are different from the way the song is actually played.

  • @JEREMY51621 its Eb

  • @CTHARDCORE606 Half a step down Alice tuning is always half a step down except on maybe two songs are drop D but this one I know for sure is half a step. Check my brain and something else are the two that are Drop D.

  • If I was wearing a hat I'd have to take it off to you. This is far superior (and more accurate) than the tab I was trying to learn this from. Pretty much a perfect video to play to and you're even performing it on my dream bass. Good work!

  • hey man what is your tuning? my girlfriend plays this but u play it differently and it sounds better and id like to teach this to her.

  • YOU ARE A FUCKING GOD!!!! AND AMAZING SONG GO AIC

  • Remiiiiiii....I don't know why everyone asks for TABS, your cover could not be more perfect and easy to pick out just by listening and watching. What a great cover! Do you learn all your stuff, like TOOL, and all that by ear too?

  • @playdrums thanks for your comment. yes I just don't like tabs, they are often wrong, and I like to pratice my ears ;) It's a good exercise.

    Peace

  • @remiiiiiii I agree about finding good tabs, I can follow most of what you play,

    but not all....Need tabs

If any one can send them to me that would be cool...doumbokie@aol.com thanks

  • @play drums...I can see most of plays, But not all.

    Need tabs!

  • @norvosh You need to find another instrument iff all you rely on is TABS my friend.

  • @playdrums Yeh, only play in my garage< I was asked to learn this song on bass,

not pro like you! I don't play. thanks for your, "up- reply....

  • This is a really good bass cover. You should do a bass cover of The God That Failed by Metallica.

  • Great cover!

  • I see you're using a Musicman. That bass is sick, my guitar/bass teacher has one. They take alot to go outta tune.

  • that is uberly sexy.....not the hardest song on bass quite frankly but any song is difficult to master. gotta say thats the best cover i ever seen.

  • grunge uses more bass than any other genre doesnt it?

  • @Rattfan001 its bass driven yeah

  • great song. can you do a cover for man in the box? I am trying to learn to play that and i need a good bass player like you too watch and learn from

  • Niiiiiccccceee....

  • what tuning did you use

  • Comment removed

  • your guitar tone makes me want to be a better person

  • what setting do u have on your amp because i love mike starrs tone and u bassicly ha captured it awesomely

  • what kind of bass is that?

  • that bass sounds angry

  • I read the effects that you have listed on your home page. what effects are you using in particular for this song? ur bass growls...it sounds sick.

  • none, except my sansamp preamp

  • hey send me these tabs. the other websites are close but not perfect. urs are amazing. i tried writing them down from ur vid. but if you could send them that would be amazing

  • sorry I don't use tabs

  • @creation94 You should really try listening to the song and playing by ear, or going and buying sheet music books for the band/album you are learning, because personally I think tabs are a bad habit, but once in a while if I can't figure out a note or two I look it up.

  • can you please send me the tabs..ur cover was awesome and i cant find the right tabs

  • I just can't get my stingray to growl like that :(

  • Comment removed

  • sweet cover

  • Very nice cover! Where do you get your tabs at?

  • hey can you by any chance tell me where you got your tabs from or something and amazing tone quality timing and everything 5 stars and i love the bass nice body and color but please can you link me the tabs

  • man I got the fingering, but my time is terrable :(

  • hey man great cover, love bass it just feels right ya know lol keep it up

  • About the pick question..... From what I've heard it comes down to comfort and sound.

If you take a look at Remiiii's thumb (left hand) and how it comes over the top of the bass... this is, in most cases, a dead give-away that he's a converted lead guitarist or also plays the electric/acoustic guitar.

My wife on the other hand only plays the bass and she never uses the thumb on her left hand, it always stays behind the neck.

Just my observations from watching her play.

  • I find this statement to be inaccurate. I am a 100% bass player of 10 years, and in easy-playing situations, my thumb rests over the neck as well.

  • Hmmm... My wife is also 100% bass player for over 20 years, I bet it has to do with the size of the neck vs. the size of your hands.

Actually I can't say she's 100% bass player since she also plays the piano, every brass and every woodwind (except for double reeds)... She has her masters in music ed, so she had to learn to play all instruments before she could teach them.

Remiii, I thought you had a video in your profile of you playing the guitar?

  • nop, no guitar playing on youtube for me :) I suck at it ;)

  • I never played guitar (I mean of course I already tried etc ...)

  • man i love your bass. what kind is it and how much was it?

  • @jakewashere17 it's probably a musicman and if it is, it's hella expensive if you want good quali

  • its some ernie ball music man type bass, im not into them but the head and pick guard shape give it away

  • mate you are an awsome bassist. took me a whil eto get the timing right on this one. great cover of an awsome song, as always. SUBSCRIBED.

  • thank you

  • why does everyone used a pick?

  • why everyone asks this question ?

  • nice reply LOL

  • Why not? Here's a question for your question... Who gives a shit?

He sounds awesome. I say use whatever gets the job done

  • dude u are awesme :D

  • How do you get such a low tone on your bass?

I wish my D string sounded like that...

Are you tuned down on all strings?

  • just a drop D

  • it's also the strings he could be using.

For example, I use Ernie Ball Slinkies, which have a really punchy tone.

If he's also using ernie ball slinkies, please Remii tell us your secret

  • just look in my profile, there's no secret, everythink is explained

  • can you please make a how to video on this?

    thatd be great

  • i dont play any instuments but it seems like it'd be harder to play something slow like this rather than something fast, because of the timing. But the bass is the best part about this song, well the song in a whole is amazing, but you catch my drift ;D

  • Good job!

  • perfect sound! Btw, like the gf/wife/little sister on the side lol : P

  • me and buddy played this check it out on my profile. now we need a good bass player

  • I thought it would suck at first, but you guys are good.

  • lol the timing is a bitch.

  • How?

  • you trust me it is.

  • I play the song and never have trouble with timing.

  • Well I was talking bout wen your first learning it

  • wow you are really good. i have been trying to learn this song for quite a while but for some reason i cant get it. do you think you could post a video on how to play it or send me the tabs?

  • are you tuned down a whole step?

  • I'm not sure, but I think I was in drop D (DADG)

  • i think hes in drop d

  • I gotta go drop a d

  • you should do a bass cover of man in the box by alice in chains

  • I'll think about it ;)

  • Really really awsome

  • thanks

  • SWEET! I love this song keep up the good work. I learned to play this on guitar but im not the best.

  • what bass is this?

  • a musicman Sterling ...

  • i like your bass. i have a 60's music vibe squier p-bass in powder blue

  • i can play that also!

  • cool

  • especially at 1:00 its like angry sounding.

  • the bass in this song is the best part. Nice cover 5*

  • Thank you ;)

  • ...and to think that you learned this song in just a few minutes :P Well done!

  • thank you =)

  • Really man thanks.

  • Your tone is almost exactly dead on!

    Nice cover :)

  • Comment removed

  • stingray, nice bass

  • sterling ;)

  • damn, it was between those two, nice!

  • really nice bass,,,i use a stingray

  • Using a pick requires some skill. So I don't down pick players. I've been using fingers for three years. Using a pick is harder than using my 3 fingers lol.

  • You should be able to use both. I usually just use my nail. I think playing Would? with 3 fingers is about as hard as a pick.

  • Well done... Im gonna study this a few times..Thanks

  • You people who say "real bass players" play with just their fingers are idiots. Watch many bassists of amazing bands and they use picks. It's to achieve a more tenor/sharp sound, as opposed to using fingers, which give the thumpy, low sounds. You can also get much better timing from a pick, and lets see you play metalcore or something in full speed with your fingers. Stop being a youtube troll and if you're suuuuuch a good bassist, post some of your own vids, you posers.

  • It's not right to generalize the bass community by saying one is better than the other. There is an appropriate use for each technique. In this case, a pick is the superior technique. He is just performing it with the original technique, as Mike Inez did. Whoever says "pickz rulz" or "fingerz r Bettr" are fags.

I actually do have videos :)

  • Comment removed

  • Well it all depends on the individual bassist, It is better for anyone listening if I play with my fingers, as I suck with a pick, but someone might sound phenominal the other way around, it all depends on which fundimental style the given bassist has chosen to develop.

  • Comment removed

  • Wow!

    You're awesome!

    {:

  • thanks !

  • Only one person said that it's "the best cover", and some songs are better played with a pick, some others not ...

  • yeah, who cares, as long as it sounds good, who cares. and some songs just plain sound better with a pick. and also its preference.

  • I prefer using jm fingers too, but dont dog on em for using a pick, it's their choice.

  • For this song, the appropriate tool is a pick. That's what Mike Inez uses.

  • this was written with Mike star who used fingers. And star was better then inez.

  • Either way, it was played with a pick :D

  • Who cares how the original bassist played it, it can be played either way depending on the fundimental style of the bassist playing it.

  • Hey buddy idk if you have noticed but alot of the great early grunge bands all use picks on their basses!!!!!!

  • damn, your bass sounds awesome on this song. wish i had enough money to get one myself. good cover. =D

  • Hehe, thanks ;) The Sterling sounds good yes.

  • Sweet. I really just wanted to see how the Sterling woud hold up in this context, but it ended up being the best best bass cover of Rooster yet.

  • Thanks to you two ;)

Yep the sterling sounds great. But its growl can be a handicap in certain condition ... not there anyway. Cya

  • Waaaah *_* You're pretty good ! :)
