I dunno, I'm currently owning a jailbroken iPhone4 and to be honest I'm pretty happy with it, but for some reason I found a big interest on WP7. I looked at many videos and it's just as smooth as iOS but the animations are SOOO much cooler :D

MS can not avoid the number of their current customers they are ignoring because they won't support the Android Platform. I'm not going to buy a Windows Phone simply because of a companion app for the xbox.

Because Google is locking out Microsoft with Youtube, they are not giving out the API for HD quality to youtube, so third part developers are finding way around, Microsoft cant go that way because of legal issues. Microsoft is a software company, they provide their software for all platforms, but Google dont like Microsoft competing with Bing Search. Xbox Companion is available for iPhone, even Microsoft Office.

@stainlessray They make money of every Android, not from Google, but from the OEM's. Because the OEM's admit that the Android software have so many codes that doesnt belong to them. Google don't make a penny of each Android sold, that's why they are telling the OEM's they are on their own.

Though, they only make money on ads and applications sold in Market.

@AtactHD well a zune pass works on the xbox,pc and zune/windows phone devices meaning you dont need to buy your music again unless you have other devices. you can already play music while playing a game. i just connect my zune hd with the usb cable and then it shows up when you hit the guide button music section.

If you have the budget to pay a premium for the new Xbox, go for it and you'll be able to brag to your friends that you have one. But the downsides are many. The initial systems could fail before they work out all the bugs, the catalogue of games will be weak for at least a few years, and the cost will be very high too. Personally I would go with the 360 now since Microsoft will support it for several more years. They plan on selling both systems side by side.

Awesome! I'm an Android user that sticks strictly with the Nexus line, but I love to see more competition out there.

ATTENTION everyone: If you don't already know, Windows phones can 'dual boot' with Android, so you can choose between the two each time. And Android is so customizable, that you can make it's UI look exactly like iOS 5 with apps from its marketplace. except WITH Flash Support! So please, dump your iPhones as it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever to get one!

Remember, Microsoft saved Apple 1997, Apples year of nightmare. Jobs came back, everyone used Windows, Bill Gates invested 150 million dollars on Apple and that was alot. And Microsoft ported software like IE and Microsoft Office to Macintosh, because no one wanted the crap in Macintosh. Microsoft only competes when they see competition, remember.

While iOS was not the first operating system (there was palm and blackberry at the time, both of which needed stylists for touch), windows mobile did not come around until shortly after, and believe me I remember it, they had the first 5mp camera phone.... but it was literally the worst phone ever made. I mean we all know how microsoft did on their previous handheld devices, AKA zune. Main point, windows is very un original.

@briy123 I happen to love my Zune HD. I can't comment on the previous versions of the Zune. The Zune HD essentially has the WP interface. I especially liked it when traveling with the AV dock. Load the Zune with videos (up to 720p) instead of carrying a DVD case. Watch videos at the end of the day in the hotel room or play music through the TV in the hotel room. Especially nice when I was stuck out of state for some training for 2 weeks.

Wow this a amazing, I press left on my phone the dashboard goes left, i press left it goes left. I can control my xbox with my phone, unbelievable! I love how you can search for a movie and it plays instantly on the xbox and then pause it using the phone.

The Xbox is a much bigger than Windows Phone and it's features should not be limited to it. Xbox Live games of course should remain exclusive to Windows Phone, but this like the Xbox Companion app, should extend the Xbox experience no matter what mobile platform the user favors. Mostly in part to the fact that the Xbox, with Live is a significant, on-going investment.

@wixostrix Don't cry too much. Microsoft released a free app for iOS and Android. It's the Xbox Live app we've had on the WP7 since it came out last year. We just get the newer upgraded version that is better :P

For right now, I think this app should remain exclusive to Windows Phone, with games being forever exclusive. However, this app should eventually come to iOS and Android to they extend Xbox functionality because no matter what mobile platform you use, buying the console is a significant investment in itself, with Xbox Live Gold being an on-going investment.
