Great commercial, funny movie, Hi-Lo's sound so good, Jack Lemmon is chasing Louis Nye and they stop b/c the director yells 'quiet' or something until they are done filming.
Saw Good Neighbor Sam when it first was released. I was seven at the time, and laughed my ass off at all the Hertz commercial misadventures. 45 years later, I still laugh just as hard at this footage. (and I must totally agree with wcstflyer, they definitely don't make commercials like they used to...)
I remember this commercial many years ago...in fact, this ad was one of the sponsors advertised on "The Jackie Gleason Show" on CBS Saturday night in the early 1960s.
"Quiet on the set! Ready Stu!" (Nobody today is named Stu) This is better than nearly any commercial today. The band with the saxophones are wailing away and the Hi-Lo's are in perfect harmony; "by the hour by the day, by the week or anyway, just let Hertz put you in the driver's seat."
That is awesome! Thanks for posting.

The gag at the end is that once they finally get him in the car right, the actor says "Man, that's real coffee!"
