I found this novel called The Suicide Game that feels like a Tarantino movie and even has a character that seems to be Tarantino himself. It features a black hitman, a murderous priest, and a gay phone sex operator. I downloaded it for free at smashwords . com and it was awesome.
This upload is not an attempt at saying I did something better than Tarantino. As a matter of fact I took the unfinished film and added a lot of things to make it easier to watch. I'm an admirer of Tarantino and i think it is important people can enjoy his first film.
As far as I'm concerned...you took a defensless, unfinished movie that coudn't be finished because of the fire, and you wanted to feel good about editing it and saying you did a better job than him. This was film dude, not digital. A LOT more technical. Do it to your own films....
For this being Tarantino's first film, it wasn't that bad. I would love to know how experience he was when he went on to make pulp fiction and resivior dogs.
But it should say EDITED BY DENNIS... instead of having your name next to Quentin's. That'd be like: PULP FICTION by Quentin Tarantino and Sally Menke. All I was saying is that it should say BY QUENTIN TARANTINO, and next to it: EDITED BY DENNIS... Otherwise it looks like you co-directed and co-wrote it.
As I said I am also "presenting" it. I ain't saying I co-wrote it nor that I co-directed it. The begin titles only say the Tarantino and Daja "present you". And that is exactly one of the things I am doing with this video.
It's pretty cool how you cleaned it up. but could you maybe upload the real unedited version or maybe point me towards a link that has the real version on it? because you did a nice job but i would like to be able to appreciate the real historical version for what it is. I would appreciate it a lot. Thanks.
what the hell is with the gorillas in the animal crackers? in true romance another quentin written movie christian slaters character who was also named clarance says to elliot not to eat the gorillas either tarantino must really love gorillas
That music in Part III in the Kung Fu fight sucks. I mean why Opera. I have nothing against it but that's just trying to hard and over doing the so called "Tarantino style." I like the other music selections though they are to loud most of the time and in the wrong spots at others but that Kung Fu Fight Music just ticked me off.
It was a song from Lenny Otis, I forgot the title but will search it up as soon as possible. I thought it would fit, since the interview is about Lenny Otis.
The Beatles song was meant to be redundent, for the original footage has no sound. It was just one very strange and esspecially short shot of Quientin rolling over the floor. I wanted to give it a bit meaning so played it slower, messed arround with colour a bit and add some sound.
I think it's cool to try your own version of the film, but only if you also showed also the ORIGINAL Tarantino edit. Because it's really interesting mostly as a historical artifact, of how Tarantino vastly improved as a filmmaker later on. This is the MAJOR reason people want to see it. And by altering it like you have, they don't get that oppertunity.
if you look at the facts...upon tarantino's induction into hollywood, at his first major meeting, he showed this film as a showcase for his directing ability...he was asked to never show it again if he wanted a career in hollywood...although the dialogue is still very tarantino, the technical aspect is nothing near what he was fully capable of...but in the end, it goes to show...f**k film school, shoot your own films and learn from your own mistakes, which he clearly did...and did very well...
Well, I have editted a lot of parts. So please compare this film to the original, but I haven't been cutting in it!
In a sertain way I tried to complete this unfinished film yes. My main goal is, making this film more attractive to watch. The original film is very unattractive, it's messy, dark and all. And music sometimes helps to make things less messy! and I believe I've done that.
It's messy and dark because it was shot on 16mm with a budget of about $5000. Not to mention, Q.T. was a rookie at the time. Or, as he states "It was my film school".
The sole interest for this is to see Tarantino's earler work.
Are you making fun of his film? You are showing the film in its entirety without editing anything yet you've added music. Are you trying to complete his unfinished film?
the beatles song fitted in the ambiance of the last scene, it is also contradictional. Clarence expects a trip but won't get it (he didn't sniff coke), but the song explains a trip. Anyway the last scene missed sound or any logica whatsoever, it couldn't have been much worse so ;)
ahahahah This was Amazing!!

Daja, did you add the music yourself? Or was it already apart of the movie...like Jailhouse Rock and Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds...?

I added it myself. There were only a view pieces of music in this film (those scenes in the bar).

He should remake this and add like another hour and half...

but why say QUENTIN TARANTINO and DENNIS DAJA when you only edited it. that's kind of lame.

Because I do present it. And I've also spent a lot of time in making it presentable and re-editting.
