I belive the 34 was an error, which somehow spread for a time. If I think about the 1973 disaster of that Uruguayian rugby team. Finally, the trapped miners, despite their creepy looks on TV, were smart enough to set a daily schedule, keep the team work by voting all decisions, set areas for working, sleeping and eating, burned tyres to make smoke get through the vent. shafts, attempted to climb through them, and even set controlled explosions to make vibrations.
Later, they set up the intercom and live video at their end, worked in shifts removing material dropped by the machines upground. They were smart.
Anyway it's fair to say that the drilling machine was Australian, the capsule was based on a similar priciple used by Germans in the '60s.
The CAD models of the mine were outdated, so the first probes driven by U.S. miners failed to reach the refuge, and Codelco (Chile state-owned mining company) engineers had to use ultrasound equipment to calculate the offset error and correct the CAD model, so that the next probe could broke through the refuge.

Congratulatins to the Chilenos for completing the rescue, to all the rescuers and also to the Americans who worked in the excavation: Jeff Hart de Denver, Colorado, Brandon Fisher de Berlin, Pennsylvania y Richard Soppe de Berlin, Pennsylvania, experts in Planning and Directional Drilling.
These miners are victims of circumstance who fell in shit and came out like a rose. If there are any heroes it is the people who worked so hard to save them. The heroes are the ones who volunteered to go into the mine to assist the rescue.

But also the media hid teh fact that there were 2 miners in Columbia that did not get covered at all even by columbia who covered the chile incident. I did several vids on that. @ImetGodfacetoface 34? i'm from chile and i know that they were 33, but at fisrt when the capsule went down they put a rescue, so 1 rescuer going down then 1 miner go up, and there was like 5-6 rescuer that went down, obiusly the capule had to go up like 39-40 times

I belive the 34 was an error, which somehow spread for a time. If I think about the 1973 disaster of that Uruguayian rugby team. Finally, the trapped miners, despite their creepy looks on TV, were smart enough to set a daily schedule, keep the team work by voting all decisions, set areas for working, sleeping and eating, burned tyres to make smoke get through the vent. shafts, attempted to climb through them, and even set controlled explosions to make vibrations.
Later, they set up the intercom and live video at their end, worked in shifts removing material dropped by the machines upground. They were smart.

Anyway it's fair to say that the drilling machine was Australian, the capsule was based on a similar priciple used by Germans in the '60s.
The CAD models of the mine were outdated, so the first probes driven by U.S. miners failed to reach the refuge, and Codelco (Chile state-owned mining company) engineers had to use ultrasound equipment to calculate the offset error and correct the CAD model, so that the next probe could broke through the refuge.

Four NASA specialists assisted the local authorities on nutrition and psychological treatment for the miners, since the conditions where somewhat close to that of astronauts isolated on long space missions. Some miners volunteered to drive 2 of the drilling machines.

Heroes??
These miners are victims of circumstance who fell in shit and came out like a rose. If there are any heroes it is the people who worked so hard to save them. The heroes are the ones who volunteered to go into the mine to assist the rescue.
I’m very glad they are out. I don’t want to take any of their fame. But to call them heroes is just a little unnecessary.

@1488slav Completely agree. The true heroes are the ones who orchestrated the whole rescue mission. I think it would be kinda fun to be trapped in a mine *knowing i'll get rescued eventually*
