I disagree. Altho this is one of my favorite scenes, the best scene is where they have an intervention for Tommy in his bar and he completely turns it around and gets everybody else drinking again. That's the best scene from Rescue Me.
@Beavreader I think people refer to this as being the best scene based on the dialogue and the 9/11 content, which has a sad element of truth about it. Ultimately its whatever works for you; Rescue Me is full of "best scenes".
This is way more bad boy then you could handel, do yourself a favor sweetheart go blow a drummer!! Oh thats good stuff! thanks for the post i needed a good laugh!
Hey, do you know where I can find that scene where tommy, janet and that third girl meet up, and tommy doesn't know her name? I think it was session one.
Best part of it is at 4:06 it looks like an indian guy was just chatting up an attractive white woman. Something equally funny (and unlikely - see russell peters)
@hereford msv lol , well the smell of the malt in the air when they were brewing ,put me off whiskey for life, now its just guinness i drink when i go out.if u ever visit midleton you can do the tour of jameson's distillery, part of which includes whisky tasting.
I had a dream. The only thing to fear. Tear down this wall... Sure they were all great speeches. None as good as this one though. :~) This is my favorite TV scene of ALL time. "Love it" Denis!
I saw this scene once and I never forgot it. Dennis Leary's words were some of the truest ever spoken. Even if it was a TV show. However, Dennis Leary does do a lot for the FDNY. He actually started a fund raiser for fallen firefighters and their families.
@bidi1492 I think most people see it as a small price to pay for the time I spent extracting the episode from my Satellite box (a lengthy process) and editing the clip down to the required time.
.
The "please comment / rate" is simply a reminder, and the more people who rate/comment, the higher up the Youtube search results it moves, which in turn means more people are likely to see it and enjoy this wonderful clip.

Sadly, telling me to fuck off does you no favours, the hero here is Gavin.
An amazing scene, it really explains how fucked up society is in a lot of ways. One thing I like about this show is how well the actors play their characters to the point where you forget its just a show. In some ways I can relate to the Tommy Gavin character. I haven't had any fucked up times like his, but fucked up enough. Also, I always like how his family blames him for everything in the show without looking into the mirror and taking personal responsibility for their part.
Epic scene. Saw that crazy high tech red boat on the news they named it three four three and of course I heard that number and I'm like "that's the number firemen that gave their lives on 9/11." then I just had to watch this scene again Epic 5 stars
@RachelxRenee big deal man Scotland are way tougher and crazier than Ireland a mean c'mon the romans build a massive wall just to get away from us scotsman
@bmckay16 lol true but they had a massive bed of sea guarding them from u mayb they didnt know u were there mayb they couldnt be botherd but they knew we were there and it scared them lol
Definitely agree and what Tommy says about more people being able to name people from American Idol before any of the firefighters who lost their lives in 9/11 is so true.
Cool scene and aside from the quality of the script, it brings it home just how bad things were that day and just how brave all those firefighters were.

This kind of self-pitying misery porn is why the show fell off so badly during seasons 3-4. Well, that and killing off Johnny Gavin for no reason.
