  • I'm trying to hook my computer up to this t.v, i connect the wire to the PC outlit but nothing? can anyone help.

  • burn in is real and you dont have to leave it on the same screen for 2 or 3 days str8 to get it.

  • Just got the 50 pn50a510 same tv just less ports for 400 bucks is amazing picture n looks just like new no a single scratch thats why i love craiglist ahh

  • image retention on mine is quite severe i just bought it.... how to change?

  • If you game alot LCD is the way to go, but if you only watch movies then Plasma is the way.

  • get the link on my profile to get a free ps3

  • PLASMA RULES!

  • Samsung screws it's customers !

    DON'T LET SHAMSUNG SHAMYOU !

  • Description is inaccurate. How many dead plasmas have you seen? They last as long as LCDs. And I've gamed on my plasma for over 2 years with no burn. I play Madden, COD, and Halo. If you don't own one, please do not act like you understand them.

  • I just bought the Samsung 50" 450 model, plasma. The main reason I bought plasma, was to watch sports without motion blur. However, I still see lots of motion blur?? WTF. My cable provider is Comcast, and I have the HD cable box, with an HDMI cable. The HD pictures look very clear when it is a motionless close up. But trying to watch hockey is a let down, the players blurry. Gonna buy a blueray player, if the pic is good, then maybe I just have a poor Comcast signal. Hope its not the TV?

  • fool ITS YOUR TV get a toshiba regza it has this program which deletes motion blurr i have it so i know

  • boring this guy is such a loser

  • I have this tv and i love it! cant say its the best machine but hey for the buck im happy! plays games great and good sound also

  • Before U buy any samsung tv put SAMSUNG TV CLICKING into a google search to read why THOUSANDS of samsung customers are screwed and pissed off.

    Don't let SHAMSUNG SHAMYOU !!

  • SHAMWOW?

  • You dumbasses, plasmas dont burn in anymore and last just as logn as LCD, lol

  • as long as u fit the screen on the entire pannel it won't burn in...but if u see movies with the "black lines" up and down then u will have some burn in for like 15 minutes but it will fix itself if u over do it it can burn in...

  • Plasma rocks !

  • not when it burns lmao!!!!!!!!!!

  • does it have light under the tv like where the red thing are..

  • 0-o lol.

  • I have this TV play my video games on it all the time. I played street fighter with my buddys for over 3 hours. Sure there was a image retention from the health bars and special bars being constant on the screen. After a a couple hours they were completly gone. Burn in is a thing of the past you would have to leave your TV on a still image for like 2 or 3 days straight to get burn in.

  • lmao,i just got this tv,for a steal,i got da 50 inch for 805 ,it was a floor model, but 1080 p and 800 dollars its a steal,i also notice ghosting when i play cod after only a couple of minutes, but it goes away just as fast, couldn t be happier with my deal

  • yeah its hard to burn in these bitches it would take like 2 days straight of playing COD to make it noticeable.

  • @2WIREG just use the grey scolling screen in your menu options after a little screen retention, dont really have to but it's there if needed, just wipes away the ghost image

  • man sony makes the best plasma's

  • sony doesn't produce plasma screens since 4 years

  • dam lol all i know is my sony bravia 42 inch rocks!!!

  • if u bought it recently, it is an lcd screen. anyway.....sony makes excellent products.

  • yea true.

  • I have the 58 inch version, the PN58A550 and i love it. 1080p content on this bad boy is stunning. The 50/58 inch model are worth the purchase.

The "Touch of Color" version in the 50/58 inch flavor has the same exactly plasma panel. You just pay a premium for a different looking frame around the screen and for one more HDMI input.

Save the extra cash and get this one.

  • I preffer Panasonic plasma.

  • Samsung? ahahahahah what a shit!

    PANASONIC, SHARP, SONY

    JAPAN RULEZ!!!!

  • panasonic blows

  • i suppose you pronounce linux "Lie-nux".

  • My bad, it's really pronounced like it is, SAM-SUNG.

I recant my previous reply. I swear I read a Korean pronunciation website where they say the letter U in Korean is pronounced "ou".

And for the fact, Linux is pronounced "rosenblumenthalovitch".

  • is my tv =) is the best

  • It was rated Consumer Reports' best 50 inch plasma.

  • yes low life...60,000 hours damn! only 7 years of continuous use....

  • I know, if any tv actually last 60,000 hours that's amazing.

  • Modern plasma panels do not get burn in under NORMAL usage. Of course panels used as shop displays etc will suffer, but it is only after hours and hours (we are talking 18+ hrs) displaying a static image you get lasting burn in.

The temporary retention effect you see after playing games, or watching 4:3 signals is TEMPORARY. If you get a permanent burn then you have a FAULTY panel.

Look after the TV and it will be absolutely fine.

  • My parents got a brand new LG 60" plasma and guess what? It has burn in already!

I set up the TV for them, and I turned the contrast down to 50%. My dad wanted a brighter picture so he cranked up the contrast to 100% and now it has a nice burn-in mark of the VH1 Classics logo (Thats his favourite channel).

Ive tried using the anti-burn features like the All-White wash, and Inverse mode, but that burn-in mark refuses to go away. Luckily my dad hasn't noticed it yet (please don't tell him!)

  • I heard bad things about LG

  • Well my parent's TV seems a bit of a lemon. At one time it developed a flashing red pixel that went away of its own accord, and even when the TV was brand-new, when you put it on All-White wash, the screen has a blue tint on half of it -- it is not pure white all over. They are still happy with it though.

I have also tried running VH1 Classics on Invert mode, and the burn-in mark has started to fade a bit, but its still there. Its not really visible in normal viewing however.

  • Do you see less blurring on it than LCD screens you have seen. Does the picture look sharper with motion?

  • Too be honest, on my LCD there is hardly any trace of motion blur. It is one of the newer LCDs where the crystals are driven at a higher voltage so they 'respond' faster. The picture on my LCD gets VERY CLOSE to Plasma quality, without having to worry about burn-in. Ive owned a Plasma before and it suffered screen burn, and I didn't like having to be disciplined in my vewing to avoid channel logos, black letterbox bars etc.

  • At my train depot they use plasmas in the signal box which constantly display tracks in bright white against a black background 24/7.

The burn-in is SO bad that if you change images, you can see little railway tracks burned into the screen and these burn-marks are pure black as the phosphor appears to have been totally destroyed.

  • LOOL 50inch HD and no DVI connect omg,

  • newer tvs dont have that issues after the first 100 hours of use with pretty much just wacthing movies youl be good with the whole burn in not happening thing.

  • is it very clear? as in is it a little blury?

  • It is as clear as u want. And it isnt blurry AT ALL havent seen an lcd close to this great ghosting level.

For the money you cant get better.

  • ohhhh ok thank you...because i was thinking of buying this one or an lcd tv...but does lcd harm the eyes? because it is very bright

  • U should also look at the pannasonic pz80/85/800 series. Some ppl prefere them. I bought mine very cheap, less than half of the price of a panny so i just went for this one and i love it. The colors are the best, the blacks arent.

I have no idea if lcd can harm your eyes but i dont like the extreme white values it gives when u are watching in the dark, plasma is much calmer for ur eyes.

  • oh ok thank you so much!

  • ok actually i decided to get this one!! i love it so far!!! very very pretty tv!!

  • Yeah its great, mine broke 2 time tho but i got it back again. The reliability isnt the best but yeah for the other part its great. Congrats with ur new tv, and be carefull with the contrast in the first 200h plz!!! This should be taken very seriously.

  • i love samsung... <333

  • getting the same style one but itts newer and better, but nice review

  • Just got a new samsung 50" plasma, i was playing a game for 1 hour and i got screen burn, dont not buy a plasma there rubish. Im getting a 47" lg LCD. Also mine has been repaired twice and ive only had it for 3 weeks. DONT BUY A PLASMA, LCD ARE WAY BETTER.

  • You must have gotten a faulty plasma, I've left a menu screen on our Panasonic for 38 hours accidentally once and the "image retention" went away after 2 hours of wash cycles, to get "burn in" on newer 2008 plasma models it should take at least 3-7 days of displaying a static image, 1 hour would be impossible if the display was properly functional, keep in mind "image retention" is normal and goes away after a while where as "burn in" is when the image is permanently embedded into the screen.

  • I know, but it was brun in as i had a guy come out and changed all the bored in the tv and he even said it was burn in. I only had it on for around 1 hour. I have to say it was a older version though. But anyway its my opinion, and im getting my lcd tomorrow. regards josh

  • oh ok then just making sure, hope you enjoy the 47" LG!

  • thanks

  • I just got a LCD and probably going to return it because it's not working great for games.

  • I myself have a 42 inch Panasonic plasma (PY80P) and i took good care of it in first 200 hours. I kept all settings on 50% and i was using zoom screen aspects so i didnt have black lines on top and bottom of the screen. Its was a pain in the ass for the first 2-3 weeks...but after that... it was worth every moment. Putting a HD movie on and watching the picture which is absolutely amazing...makes me wonder why they make LCD's anyway. (NOTE: I was LCD fan too... until i bought this plasma.)

  • So you are experienced with plasma`s, I recently bought a Samsung PS-50A457, i can`t say im very happy with it, when i played a game for 5 minutes ( saints row 2) the HUD was visible for the whole evening, i have the tv for a mont now, its turned on for around 6 hours a day, how long will this last before i can game with it?

  • U say its new...NEW PLASMA'S BURN IN. This doesnt make a plasma suck. Just be carefull in the first 200 hours. Scared ppl always say plasma suck bla bla. Plasma means better contrast, no ghosting, no input lag. Also there are plasma probs but doesnt make them suck. An LG lcd will get pwned by this samsung....Burn in isnt permanent mostly...just put the contrast down in the first 200h and ull be safe

  • True, but plasma's are dying out. Each store holds very few compared to LCD's. I love the clarity of plasma's and I believe they are better than LCD's but most people care about longevity and that is where LCD's shine.

  • Ye I think the same, plasma is better, but thats personal.

LCD's dont live longer than plasma's, the first thing that dies is the backlight and both plasma and LCD got 1. like 60.000h of lifetime for a plasma is like 30 years for normals years so what does it matter.

Plasma suffers from image retention a bit, burning in is history. Fosfor trails and strange ghosting can also be plasma probs.

  • Plasma tv's do not have a backlight which is why the blacks are better. Tiny little cells of gas are ionized into a plasma state, which emits UV light photons. These photons then excite phosphorus in the pixel that emits the visible light. lcd's "block" the backlight to make black where plasmas simply don't excite a pixel and it is off emiting no light.

  • Plasma's with a dynamic contrast have a backlight. This one has got dynamic contrast and you need a backlight for that.

  • @ApFaqTech , WTF are you talking about? Longevity?! 60,000 hours is not long enough. Do you still watch the same TV from 20 years ago? I hope not. 60,000 equates to 20 YEARS of 8 HOURS PER DAY of viewing. That, by the way, is to HALF LIFE. Meaning the image will just be darker. If you are willing to trade outright image quality and superiority for something that will last longer and suck more the whole time.....well....I feel that makes you unqualified to make statements about HDTVs.

  • Yey its gone now anyway , im happy. And my personal opinion is they are rubish. Its MY OPINION. so dont get mad. Also it was permanent. + I prefere the picture on a LCD aswell. And samsung are not the best make, nor lg is but who cares. Also that stupid plasma i had only had 720i this has the 1080i. YEY LOL :-). wowowowowowowowowow.lololololololol

  • As long as you take care of your plasma it will look superior to any LCD's out there(excluding Sony xbr6/8). Keep in mind resolution is merely the 4th most important factor in how good a television looks, color reproduction, color saturation, and contrast ratio are more important. And honestly even if it only lasted 30000 hours that's still 10 years watching 8 hours/day, by then it'd look like crap compared to OLED and laser projection tv's, and it's 720p not 720i. LCD's get Burn-in to ya'know.

  • Exactly. Colors and contrast black levels etc... everything is better. When you want a good lcd you pay A LOT more. Plasma is also far superior for gaming cuz most LCD's suffer from HUGE input lag and plasma's dont when u dont use IFS or smth. I dont agree about resolution. I sit like 2m from my pn50a550 and when i watch full hd the resolution does matter a lot. When u have a smaller plasma and u watch tv from a bigger distance its less important.

  • what is IFS or smth on plasma? I'm thinking of returning my LCD for a Plasma, mainly because of gaming.

  • Do u mean IFC? Intelligent frame creation, I dont like this, mostly with lots of side effects. Plasma is great for gaming, but be carefull in first 200h

  • So you say LCDs get burn in? I have yet to see ANY kind of burn-in on my laptop screen or my Samsung 46" LCD. I leave Sky News on my LCD for long periods and never had any problems with the static banners and scrollbars causing burn-in.

If LCD does burn-in, then why hasn't my LCD bedside alarm clock have burn-in from the static digits displayed non-stop?!

  • Yea but before I got my LCD, I had a Samsung CRT for 10 years (I gave it away to a friend afterwards) and it was always run at 100% contrast and never experienced burn-in. I can never understand why it is much, much, much, much harder to burn in a CRT than a Plasma, when they both use phosphors.

  • Plasma > LCD end of story. Anyone who says otherwise needs to get their head out of their ass. Plasma is superior when it comes to color, blacks and response time and is closest thing(for now) to CRT. But LaserVue will be hitting soon, and it's going to beat out both Plasma and LCD in terms of PQ

  • how does a 100,000 hour half-life mean "low life?"

  • LCD's have twice the half-life. Then again, are you going to keep the same TV for that long? Probably not.

  • umm i doubt CCFL LCDs last 200,000 hours... LED backlit LCDs i don't know, maybe they do...

  • LOL, bullshit

  • Some people just sit on their couch for the whole day watching TV and years later they wonder why they're so fat and why they have heart disease and diabetes. I'm not bashing anyone or something but 100,000 hours isn't exactly low life hehe. It's roughly about 10-40 years if you watch 8 hours a day.
