It's a good version, it's a good song. It brings something out that isn't obvious in the original (not that it wasn't there - just wasn't as obvious). Alanis's version does that too.
The original recordings aren't always better - they're just the first cover!

The have evolved their sound at least half a dozen times, and also have a 2nd band and walk among todays Rock Elite. I enjoy the Original and all other old classics and respect them, I also play guitar and write my own music...... You my friend are a shallow minded past generation afraid of change.
