the pump is for the oxygen to go in the chamber and that little red button is the fuel injection so when the igniter is clicked it makes a spark that ignite the butane (which is the fuel that works well) that makes air pressure that shoots what ever is in the gun as ammo

thats the whole gun simplified without all the complicated bullshit.

None Of you REATARDS get it! The Pump..Sends air into a Combustion chamber.. The Combustion chamber is where the combustion (explosion) occurs, producing the power to shoot the 6mm Pellet.. He added the pump because just the gas and the BBQ Sparker would not a have enough "uumpf " to power the spud gun. The Pump gives the Combustion chamber oxygen so that when the combustion occurs, it also sucks up the oxygen, which causes the explosion to increase about 5x its origanal strength!

@oOABACAOo Oxygen is flammable. There cannot be fire without the presence of oxygen, which is in the air. The only reason that the atmosphere doesn't all catch on fire when there is a spark or something is that air is only like 20% oxygen.

@chaslak you need to open the chamber each time you shoot to let oxygen in i no that i also no that instead of that your pumping efectivly pushes the old air and gasses out and replayses it with more oxygen eliminating the need to open the bac so thay arnt usless it dident work becuse after each shot you dident open the bac to alow for air exchange but the pumps are much more efectife /faster way to do it

@chaslak I think what they're trying to say is that you could use the pumps to build pressure in the chamber. If you loaded the projectile (with a good seal) before pumping in the fuel and air, you could fire at a higher pressure, which means you would get more power. That could make this great spud gun even better :D

@chaslak well either your gun has a pretty big air leak due to those retarded air pumps or you aren't releasing enough butane into the pill bottle, but it sounds weak as hell. When I made stuff like that they were more powerful than bb guns and were loud as hell

maybe take the pumps off and just blow some air into it after every couple shots.. i think you will get better results

@PanCakePB ? You're not making sense. When he sprays in the propane, it replaces the air inside with a very propane rich atmosphere. To rich to ignite. You want around 4% propane and 96% air for best results. The pumps would help bring the level closer to that.

@BornToAssassinate Im not too familiar with making these things, but if I had to assume, youd want a 50/50 ratio of hair spray (or whatever you use) and oxygen. Normally since the spray is so thick you dont need more than 1 fast spray into the container. From what ive seen on alot of videos, failure to shoot 90% of the time is caused from over spraying the tube.

Keep in mind it takes very little flammable material to create the proper combustion.

i finished mine w/fuel release but nothing special(e.g. air pump)the difference bet. ethago and yours is the cap is in the barrel so when i reload mine i don't have to use a stick to push the ammo. i just open the cap and put the ammo the inside(canister) part of the barrel then the same time blow some oxygen using my mouth then close tight and FIRE. it works! i'm using a sewing needle taped in a half ear cleaning bud, it almost pierce anything even a brick

you can make it by adding aluminium foil into hydrochloric acid or drain opener (sodium or potassium hydroxide, also sold as lye) the gasses are flammable, if you mix with pure oxygen it will be really powerful
