Every living organism on earth is connected through a microscopic yet vast world called cells. The fundamental principle of biology states that all living creatures- animals, plants, fungi, bacteria, though categorized in taxonomic groups, have one thing in common, and that is their composition being derived from cells.
i don't know how i went so long without seeing this video, this is a masterpiece. i am very impressed by the rhythm created by the movement of the shots.....
If I had to come up with a genre for this I'd classify it as 2-step electronica.
It doesn't sound anything like dubstep to me. The people that are talking about 'early dubstep' are talking about 2 step garage, which is one of the main places dubstep slowly evolved from.
But it doesn't matter anyway. Sound. Listen to it.
Stop trying to categorize and compare music to other music. Just listen to it and like it. That's all that matters.
Music like this doesn't need to be introduced, pre-packaged, and fed to the masses with 'nutritional information'. Let your ears be the only thing between the sounds and you.
if you like this check out prefuse73, jel, the octopus project. Dosh, John Kennedy, odd nosdam, the force field kids, rjd2, subtle, alias, aim, boom bip
alot of people say they dont like the stabbing bit of sound that come in. but i really do, i think you just have to take them rhythmically and its soooo good :)
Gotta say I didn't like it at all at first, but when I gave the song two or three more listens I felt it just fitting so perfectly in. Pretty amazing that they actually dared do this. :D
this is alot like early dubstep which is what i like and the "stabbing sound" is very reminisnt of dubstep and i only stumbled across this cos of that classical channel under channel U lolol
Heh, it was a joke. I followed dubstep for ages but have moved on to other stuff. Skream's earlier stuff was his best because the pressure of being the godfather of dubstep has pushed him into more mainstream sounds recently. I can't say I have heard any dubstep that sounds like Four Tet, they seem like completely different genre's to me, that said Burial doesn't sound anything like most dubstep, but is still filed under that genre. Also ...
but dubstep to me is such a broad range of sounds you cant really say 1 sound is exacly dubstep but ye i agree with you like distance they actually use waped electric guiter sound alot. but you sound more of a vet than me mate lol
Uhm, well, this is my opinion before anybody bitches, and it is fusion of audio and visual - Not how good either the song or video is (though both of those would help):
When You Were Young - The Killers
Vaka - Sigur Ros (directed by Floria Sigismondi)
Only You - Portishead
And I lied about knowing 5, apparently it's only 4! ;-) Anyone else got any suggestions?
you're right.. they're hard to find! i think if you see the clip while listening to the song for the first time, they seem to fit, whereas if you watch it after listening to a song many times, it'll never fit because you've already created something else in your head (like film adaptations of books)
Grayel, great shout on the Boards of Canada video, I was well impressed by that.
On a different note, check out Grau, by Robert Seidel. It's not a music video, more a soundscape. It totally rocks. Youtube does have it, but there is a better res version on his website.
Funny. I had never heard or seen it before. It's brilliant. Reminds me of the craziest of the Gondry. Or the videos I imagine when I hear Bowie's Berlin instrumentals.

Why did this song have to include that sample thrown in at 1:39? It made it annoying and was soooo awesome until that.

... Distance in some tracks sounds more like post-rock, but he is still classed as dubstep.
Four Tet is more electronic - post rock because of his roots, so I guess thats why he sounds like some forms of dubstep to some people. :)
