It's not so much that I'm afraid of change itself, it's the fear of what the change might bring with it. I do alright when I change things myself, but when there is this unknown aspect to the change, then it's scary.
My life changes every few years. Things NOT changing is what scares me. The mere idea of living in the same town for more than 5 years.....omg...no, can't do it. yes, I'm prior military and staying put it just too.....weird.
I like to try everything, so in that respect, I like change. (Confession, I have a take-out menu from my favorite deli were I put star ratings by every sandwich. I've had almost everything they make, even the really crappy stuff.) But at the same time, I sometimes crave normalcy, especially after the holidays. Until about February, I want boring.
I'm... ok with change. Really bad with sudden change though. Even if it's just something small like someone changing plans at the last minute, I get that anxiety ball of anxiety. Planned change I'm not so bad with though. Maybe that's a start...
I love change, change is fun. It gives something to do. I am in that time when change is about to come and I can't wait for it bacause I want to start adjusting to it already.
To be honest I think I like change too much. I've moved around quite a bit in my life and always found it really exciting, but the bad part is that often instead of facing problems I sort of find a way to just go somewhere new so I never have to deal with them. I kind of leave unresolved things behind a lot. Maybe it's better that way sometimes. I dunno. Also way to be vague! What is like actually changing in your life at the moment?
@StayFlyStephanie Haha! well thanks for asking :) I just got hired for a full-time job and two of my best friends started dating, so everything is all just so very different :P
I resisted change for all of my twenties, only to discover that the more I resisted, the harder the change was. I am working on letting go and flowing with the inevitable changes. It's a lifelong journey though! Good luck and don't give up! It does get easier.
Dude I hate change... It freaks me out. I'm like you when it comes to restaurants I almost always order the same thing because anytime I've stepped outside of that I've been dissapointed. For example 95% of the time when I go to any Asian restaurant I order the beef and broccoli. Any time I've ordered other things I regretted it. There's one exception, I once ordered something called seafood birds nest and that was good but I chalk that up to good luck rather than change being a good thing.
@csandreas Haha, yeah! Like every Monday for the last 3 years my best friend and I have gone to the same restaurant and eat the same food and are very content with it. I think it has a lot to do with comfort and some stability, especially with GOOD FOOD :)
