  • I lived in Pawtucket till the summer of 1969. I lived on Mowry St. A family friend worked there at the zoo caring for the animals. My brother and I got to ride Fanny. Those were good times long gone... I now live in southern Ca.

  • the zoo was in the middle of slater park...no one lived a block away.

  • My grandmother lived a block or so from the zoo too! I live in Maryland so my only real exposure to RI was to see the animals. I remember I didnt like it much cause I could tell (at the ripe ol age of 5) that the animals were being mistreated. Im glad Fanny got outta there!

  • i live in pawtucket also in was talkin with my mom when she was a kid and she told me that there was a zoo w was surprised... a zoo in pawtucket?!?!?!? but ya she told my about fanny and that i dont know if you guys know, when fanny was sent away to texas she died there not much longer.i dont know how long but all i know is she died. i would have knever known this but im 14 years old now so i do know.

  • i loved fanny growing up. wish the zoo never closed it was great going there back in the day. pawtucket is a great place to grow up its even better cuz i lived a block from the zoo an could hear the loins at night wasthe best...
