so you would think that 6 months prior a sale was a sale the charge went thru. but I guess they held the money and I didnt notice it. NOT.. Of course i saw the funds probably withdrew. I am not sure what happened but it is unfair and as for BBB well people can BUY a rating from those crooks. Look it up you can buy a perfect BBB rating. that was on the news. I had this happen first last year, once. 21 day hold. I was surprised. Now this year.. this past month..I reached 300 postivie feedback, 1 false negative, my star rating ALMOST perfect..4.8's and 5's.. 2 customers in 2 months gave me 1 Star LOWER for shipping time. NOW EVERY FUCKING THING I SELL (the last 8 items) ARE HELD FOR 21 days.. I use that money to PAY FOR MY SHIPPING LABELS AND NOW THEY PUT ME AT DOUBLE RISK- NO MONEY AND NO WAY TO SHIP THROUGH CANADA POST.. EVIL AND I'M GOING TO QUIT.

Also, I don't sell high-valued items and therefore I'm not really worried about being scammed with paypal.

I have 2292 feedbacks 99.3 positive. Since I would not give a buyer a partial refund he gave me neg. feedback and a few others gave me lower description rateing through the year. Ebay is holding my funds until the person recieves the item then 3 days after i get my money.Iam a tradeing assistant. Ebay isnt holding my money they are holding my clients money. I had to ship out 5 items the other day and no money in Paypal to do so.So im sure ill get lower feedback score for slow shipping.

They grab control of your actual checking account! You really need to get away from them if you can, ...they won't close your account. I hate paypal customer service. I called about a hold and they told me some bullcrap about the item possibly being a bootleg or copy of some sort and I have to wait to get the funds. I asked if I buy from ebay, i have to pay first then I can get the item. What is happening to the funds? Gaining interest in their bank? Without buyers EBAY is nothing so of course they have to protect them... believe me when you buy something on ebay and the seller disapears with your money which happend often before this 21 day hold ebay was losing customers. Plus if ur tracking shows delivery u get ur money 3 days after or if the buyer leaves positive feedback you get ur money. Thats why sellers should leave feedback first which is rare but it increases ur chances of getting feedback back and realising the funds.

I had an ebay account for over ten years with about 200 transactions, all with positive feedback and they did that to me, and then continued holding my funds after the buyer gave positive feedback. Screw ebay, I'll never use it again. And I canceled my Paypal account too.

@beast6228 depending on the amount they can freeze your money or account for any reason they think is questionable.. If you send a friend $1000 paypal will immediately stop that money from going through even if it's a "GIFT" and investigate.. they can sometimes hold money for as much as 6 months if they think its fraudulent.. their system is designed to automatically assume you're paying for an eBay transaction which will cause this. Be very careful with PP, usually their reps don't help much..

I no longer sell on Ebay, I was registered since 1998 and have sold hundreds, if not thousands of items over the years. It was a great place back when it first started. Then Ebay got greedy and started to changed their prices and policies. Now it's virtually a waste of time and money to sell on here. After Ebay gets their cut, you lose money. Plus Paypal gets their cut too. The seller is the real loser. I suggest selling on Craigslist or through your local newspaper or classified ads.

I feel for you man, you have to wait for the buyer to get their item and then you have to wait for them to give you feedback. Plus if you don't have the money to ship, it really sucks. Make sure you send the item with tracking and signature required for delivery, it helps speed up the process.

The 21 day hold policy is let buyer file a dispute and tells you how you can get your money whether or not you sell your product or whether or not the buyer receive it. So It really doesn't matter if anything goes wrong. See, PayPal don't care. All they care about is your money. PayPal is a middleman between you and your bank and that's exactly what PayPal is.

I have no need for paypal now, but luckily during the time this worked for me I was able to get over $2000 dollars instantly from paypal without waiting. There are other alternatives to paypal, like Propay which I use, they are more on the side of sellers too, unlike paypal which is on the side of buyers more than anything.

Did the person pay you for the item? You should have a certain amount of money in your paypal account. If so, then you need to issue a refund in the amount of one cent. It should work then.

But what it sounds like to me is the person paid you with some other source or funds and it's still waiting to be transferred into your account. If that's the case, then you won't have access to any money yet.

I actually discovered this by accident, my cousin and I were helping each other with feedback, he setup a new Ebay account and wanted to sell some stuff, but couldn't because his feedback was too low. So, I sold him items for a very low price and he paid me with paypal. So I sent him a partial refund, less than what he paid me and I noticed that it released the funds right away..because I too had to wait 21 days for the money. Needless to say I discovered something useful :)

Ebay has become totally crazy with their selling conditions. It's bad enough I have to pay to sell items on Ebay, but Paypal takes another cut after you get paid from a buyer. And even if you don't sell anything, you still have to pay a small percentage. Even worse, I can sell an item to someone, they can receive it and say I never sent it or it doesn't work and then they can do a chargeback on me, keep the item and still get their money back. And I STILL have to wait for my money!!!

When I issue a small refund to the buyer, I will usually include a note with the refund stating that I overcharged for shipping by a small amount. This way people don't become frightened and think something fishy is happening. In fact, I sold something on Ebay yesterday and issued the buyer a refund in the amount of $1.00 and told them that I overcharged for shipping. I have even told people that I was sending them 1 penny for good luck. :)
