A plant we should take with us if we ever terraform another planet! I like to blanch the leaves, followed by a quick sauté in butter with onions. My family has always mixed them with other various edible greens and eaten them the same way, as a side dish. I've used them in salads and omelets, but not in a burrito! I've always just pinched the leaves at the base, as my grandma taught me, and never used the roots for food. Thanks for sharing the ideas!
wow interesting, i never knew there was a "fake" dandelion out there!! am i right in thinking that catsear is poisonous and should not be used in a salad etc?
Our land lord sprays pesticides EVERYWHERE. I don't know how to ask him to stop either because we don't take care of the property. But we do have lots of lovely edibles and herbs on the property. We have a veritable orchard with oranges, lemons, apples, pears, lavender, chamomile, fennel, etc. It breaks my heart that he sprays so much cause I am afraid to feed my kids these things.
The crop of Spring 1998 was the best on record in modern times & inspired my username of Dandelion Juice/Damdelion/Da...Juice for the health of all .
As WorldWideWeed authority, the best way to eat dandelions is to wash & while still wet, throw them into a baggie & into your freezer for maybe four minutes - It breaks down the fiberous plant cell walls & allows for easy assimilation of mineral enzymes - Also removes some flavor bitterness - You heard it from "Don't tell no lies" Da...Juice

Love your videos, but I wish you'd be more specific. You showed us another plant that looked like a dandelion, what was that?

should i avoid the ones growing out of the curb?
kaindrg 1 year ago
@kaindrg YES! Avoid them. Just pick in places where you wouldn't mind eating from. It's easiest to harvest out of existing gardens, and safest.
