The sound they all would eventually pursue was very different, YES! But Edgar found his way to where he was going with the hard work of Schnitzler: Schnitzler helped them all ( Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, Cluster) "get their feet wet" with his opening the Zodiac Club where they all freely performed... This is all well documented in the documentary "Kraftwerk and the Electronic Revolution"... However, I have to say this to my ears is a far better listen than some of the early TD
Conrad Schnitzler has always been a fascinating figure in electronic music. Are there any tracks from his albums 'Rot' and 'Blau' anywhere on Youtube?
This album is the most familiar sound of his 70's works. I like his labyrinth of sound very much, as much as one more genius German electoronics composer, Klaus Schulze.
I really need to make digital files of this album from my vinyl copy. It is strange to think that it is now here. My copy was purchased as a delete back in 1978.

Strange, if Conrad Schnitzler was dead, none of his fans would ever know...

"exedeath",
I think one of the names that you're looking for is Vladimir Ussachevsky.
You can hear something that he did with Otto Luening if you type "vertical tangent" into youtube and look for the homepage of "filmbrutproductions".
Some of this music could have had very good possibilities if Vlad and Otto had just sequenced it better.

electronic music was not created by kraftwerk.
some scientsts in the 50s used their instruments to try to create sound with is.
and then they created electronic music.
