This is one of those songs that are unforgettable and are lifelong. The melody is infectious and can instantly put you in a happy mood. For the life of me, I cannot see how contemporary songs can do that. And isn't that what art is supposed to do...make you think or lift your mood? Thanks Ron, for the performance and thanks for the posting.
I grew up along the North Carolina Coast, Morehead City/Atlantic Beach, and Beach Music is the only way to go. I can dance to it and understand the words the whole thing that makes music the real thing Ann
Unreal performance ! I have not heard this song on the radio for so long I had forgotten about it. Ron sounds great and I agree with kpdave, its nice to hear an old song being performed live so brilliantly by the original artist.
Great song, I never get tired of hearing it. And despite the obvious fact that it is the original lead singer, this perfomrmance sounds SO much like the original recording and that is great. Most times that a song (especially and older song) there is a remarkable difference between it and the original.
One of my favorite memories is having Ron Dante sing this song to me personally while I was on stage with him! I absolutley love this song and Ron Dante!
In the 70's, Ron turned to the role of producer and was behind the success of Barry Manilow with the songs 'Mandy', 'I Write The Songs' and 'Copacabana'. In fact, this month he has been in the studio again with Manilow working on his next album.
Ron Dante also recently completed producing a new CD for Trini Lopez. "He is ready to make a major comeback," Ron says. "He just had his 70th birthday".
Wow! I too was in the third grade when this song came out. It was the fall of 1969. I have very good memories of that school year. Coming home to legos , erector sets, cool music and two parents who cared for me. Hard to believe that 39 years has transpired!! My how times have changed!
Ron DAnte is such a neat guy. Heputs on a great show. He also has a dalmation rescue,it's on his website. He's playing at the CAnnery Casino in North LAs Vegas with the Ohio Express,1910 Fruitgum co,Bo Donaldson and Andrew Gold on Sept 1st. It's A FREE show! See ya there!!
HOLY SMOKES!!! It's THE CUFFLINKS. I have an oldies band, and I wish we did this. Ron Dante belongs in the ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME. He had more hits than the Bonnano family.
i have always liked this song i worked with a girl named Tracy and she was a DOLL !
