Hair Type Chart: Finding Your Curl Pattern

When my hair is wet it looks like 3b and when it's dry it looks like 4c. My hair is super thick and extremely dry. When it was relaxed I had a lot of body and grew shoulder length hair. Now I really don't know which type products based on my hair. Help!

@wandamlucas You may have to do an adjustment to your products. Most of the time when you go natural the products that you used on your permed hair won't work the same on your natural hair. Check out some product review videos for natural hair here youtube. Hope this helps. :)

I like this hair chart because it include alll hair types from "white hair" to "black hair" to me it dosent matter either way because you can be white and have 4b hair or you could be black and have 2b hair lol thats why i LOVE this chart i think my hair is 3b-c :) thanks for sharing!!

The tighter your curls are the more curls u have so black people have the curliest type of hair but its less defined because the curls r so tiny nd I'm 4a 4b and 4c my hair is to curly it's sometimes annoying

Thanks for this i have been looking up info for starting my daughter's healthy hair journey but every uses this hair chart to catagorize their hair but it was confusing to figure out where my child's hair would fit. I think she's a 4a or b thanks for this

I have been TRYING to do the "non-flat iron/pressed" version of natural hair, but I do wear my natural hair, and one part in the front is just bone straight, doesn't curl or anything (not heat damage, I don't use a lot of heat), the back near the lower half is straight, the middle is the zig zaggy, the sides are very loose curls, so I don't know lol.. I'm probably a bit of 2a, 2b, 3c, 4a and 4b lol!!!

It has nothing to do with that. my mom is black, and my dad is white. therefore i do not have normal mixed hair. i have 100% black hair. i use to have about 4a 4b hair, but ive done so much flat iron damage. so i wanted to know if anyone else has experienced the same thing.

For those having issue determining...after you wash your hair...put conditioner in it to see your curl pattern (A LOT of conditiioner)

i range from 3c to 4c depending on different areas of my hair. love my hair...but not the easiest to style. i have areas that don't hold any kind of manipulation at all. but i work with what i've got. went natural with the BC back in 07, rocked the twa to a loose BAA, then locked for 2 years and just this summer cut em off and am currently rocking the twa again. loving my loose hair again and in a different way now.

These hair type charts are overrated. They're just to be used as a general guide line but some people behave like kids trying to match their strand exactly andwind up claiming about 5 hair types. Relax!

@yellatexastud210 It's absolutely possible. Many of the people who commented said they have about 2-4 different curl patterns in their hair. I have about 2 different curls patterns in my hair as well. But I'm locking my hair so you can't tell.
