  • What showmen, holy cow.

  • @randomhobo1000 thanks god the who are mostly famous for john's bass and keith's drum, not for pete destroying guitars and roger whipping his mic... well at least they are known for this features for those who have ears!

  • 2:00 is epic when they all stop together perfectly. goes to show how tight they are as a band

  • I'm a bassist and DAMN it pisses me off that John Entwistle and Keith Moon got NO camera time in this film!!

  • who's on first----((dont try too analyze this comment to much

  • tooo faded :)

  • my generation sucks, fucking justin bieber

  • john entwistle is one hell of an underrated bass player

  • The bass solo here is awesome. Bass players rarely have a solo with any band.

  • @mcdstuff And you're short of a sense of humor.

  • @mcdstuff And I think you don't have a goddamn sense of humor. Do you have any friends? Can they even stand to be around you. I think that you spend a whole lot of time seeing how tightly you can squeeze your ass muscles together just for the hell of it.

  • im 13 im stuck with rap and tech from my 16 year old bro but this is my favourite generation.

  • I think the size of Pete's nose was less noticeable when he had long hair.

  • Best outro ever.

  • @randomhobo1000 and that's one of the reasons i really like this song. it's not a song w/out him that's for damn sure.

  • three people dont like the mix of power, energy and melody

  • Can't wait for 2019. 50 year anniversary of Woodstock!

  • Roger Daltrey = sex.

  • LIVE FAST, DIE YOUNG AND LEAVE A GOOD LOOKIN' CORPSE

  • LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, THE WHO.

  • wow what a fucking performance!!!

  • keith moon! enough said.

  • Haha, Pete looks here like Cher :D

  • poor music from today with all the "pop, techno, fakerock" we need more bands like this one

  • great song

    2 people should f-f-f-f-fade away

  • the person that caught that SG came to get high and maybe was having the best time and caught a piece of history, i wonder where's that guitar ?

  • @sebia12, the roadies retrieved it for future use. That guitar has been auctioned off.

  • i'm 12 and fucking love 60s,70s. my "friend" once said that bands like this suck. what did i do ? fucking punched that motherfucker in the face.

  • @luhe1610 ...which was not at all in the spirit of Woodstock..... although I can totally understand your complete & utter disgust w/ his total lack of appreciation of REAL Rock & Roll; rock on... peaceably!

  • Sorry about Keith Moon and John Entwistle, best drummer and bass player, who died before they got old....

  • It was so awesome and so loud and the drugs were so good that even Pete sh*t himself at the end...

  • I am basically an opera and classical music fan but I have to say this isnt bad specially compared to today's music

  • KOOL!!!

  • 2 DISLIKES? GO BACK AND LISTEN TO YOUR HIP SLOP / RAP CRAP/ LADY ''KAKA'' BULLSHIT!!!! THE WHO ROCKS!!!

  • wow

the part from 2:06 to 3:20 really summarizes woodstock for me

    the mood,the music,everything

  • @ejdbk Indeed :) I think it's actually solo section from "Naked Eye" implemented in My generation. Beautiful.

  • @DzedajO

yeah, its from naked eye,i can recognize this chord work instantly

  • Why do i love this? Mostly beacuse it's The Who at Woodstock '69, but there's no: "The two people that disliked this... blah, blah, blah...". We're all hippies here. We all love eachother. I love you guys.

  • @MrItsabeautifulday Great comment! You deserve that top comment spot for atleast another 2 years :D until its replaced with some: "the people who disliked this..." comment :(

  • @MrItsabeautifulday and we love you :)

  • Pete was so fuckin' stoned!!!! hehehehehe

  • look at his eyes like fuck man thats the way

  • ladys and gentlemans... The Who!

por dios, haber vivido eso no debe tener comparación

  • why dont ya all just ffff ffffff oh darnit to heck fade away diddly iddly

  • HE WAS HIGH AS FUCK!!

  • townsend knew jimi was comming! Montery again! damn that hendrix guy! All jokes aside, the who and hendrix made their mark! My sentiment is if you played woodstock. you are rock hall of fame. Catch up BOARD!

  • townsend knew jimi was comming!

  • love it when they smash up the instruments especially when keith puts too much gun powder in his drum kit whilst live on tv in the US hahaha

  • @88voodooray Lol! Did you notice how dodgy he looked getting interviewed at the start of that? He knew, and the band err.. didn't .

  • @Noodles37UK yeah ano he had this sort of smirk across his face hahahahaha

  • The Guitar's solo it's Fantastic! From Italy!

  • never born to late for sex & rock 'n roll

  • to bad i was born 30 years to late.......

  • kids need to listen to this stuff and not that shit they call music today

  • Keith Moon died before he got old

  • @rockerfan12196 horse tranculizers

  • I wonder who caught the guitar he threw in lol ..that would have been pretty cool!. Also, I wonder if people who went to woodstock ever watch these youtube videos.

  • @ 0:04 it sounds like someone yelling "Fuck you" to Townshend. Abbie Hoffman, perhaps?

  • God they sooooooo good!

    no hacen musica así ahora!

  • I get chills when John plays his solo in this song

  • IM FOKIN 19 and I LISTEN what ever i Want to?? surprised??

  • Give me some Peyote and a Hang-glider.

  • Thumbs up if you loved when Danny Tanner sang this on Full House. :)

  • great!!!

  • QUESTI SUONAVANO ROCK!!!!!!

  • Can I just say that a true hippie would never come on a site that millions can see and lay his shit bare. Doing acid and smoking weed doesn't make you fuckin' cool. It's a choice. What you do should be YOUR business. We don't care.

  • too bad you don't see the Ox playing these famous bass solo lines! and then with a little fuzz to freak people out!

  • The only bad part was for a generation of love they sure did show a lot of hate to the soldiers returning home who had no choice but to serve during a draft.

  • @tanguman2 Hoseshit! They had a choice. Mohammad Ali went to jail rather than fight. Anyone else could have done the same. I was ready to go to Canada, but my number didn't come up. No one *has* to pull a trigger for the "man". Why do you think they staged that crap in NYC this time? So we wouldn't pull together and face them down like the hippies did in the 60s. We have wars for one reason and one reason only. So a few people can make a lot of money. Wake up people!

  • @randyleepublic1 Yeah right so we need to let the Hilter's of the world run rampant and let then have their way right? Wake up. Most people are anti war but when it comes down to it there is a time to fight as free people or prepare to be conquered.

  • @dsfddsgh No, what we need to do is stop enabling the vampires who engineer these fiascoes. Hitler was financed by western industrialists and probably others who did a better job of covering their tracks. The Rothschilds have a history of financing both sides in a war - then they make the victors collect the debt from the losers in return for favorable terms on the victors' debt.

See, it's the "comes down to it" part that concerns me, as I think that we have been and still are being played

  • KIng Roger's Speech

  • ECSTACY??? TRY ACID MAN or coke.....prolly pot too but who aint on that :P i love acid and weed..... now i forget my strain of thought

  • It's a travesty they didn't show THE OX playing the greatest bass solo of all time!

  • i want rogers hair

  • Looks like there was at least some 'good' acid going around that night/morning.

  • love the white jumpsuit and the bass is so overgained nice

  • This song gives me an impresion what voodstock wibe is! This gives you an ability to understand that beeing there doesn't mean anything, feeling it is more likely the way you can get into woodstock wibe... Just me... High as a kite speakin' out... Peace.

  • Pete looks SO baked in the beginning...

  • we maybe at 2011, but 69 will always be alive

  • @ffsnerdic456

we envite you and everybody to Polish woodstock !

    peace !

  • @ffsnerdic456 I was 17 back in '69..my favorite year.

  • FUCKING 4 Minutes who will rule your life!!!!! forever.

  • (Referring to StanolaGoW's comment in the highest rated) I don't care either what age people are, but I think people say that because I know for me in school when I tell people what music I like, they think it's out of the ordinary since they're all into today's mainstream, rap, and such.

But anyway, The Who is probably one of my favorite bands of all time! I remember my dad took me to the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame and we watched a video about Woodstock. It looked crazy, but fun.

  • superb

  • I was there when this happened, seeing it again is amazing.

  • it's sooo UNFAIR.. that I was born later oh well there's a flying fuck I can do about it but THANK YOU YOUTUBE

  • "...our hymn..." INDEED. With the massive AMEN at dawn!

  • THERE ALL SO LOADED CHUCKLE

  • Is that Rob Zombie on the light tower?

  • Holy crap that was awesome footage.

Also, did Pete really just throw that SG into the crowd at the end?

  • You can tell hes on something hhaha. He did amazing though

  • I heard The Who outside of the Civic Arena in Pittsburgh in 1970 or 71. Did not have tickets but could hear them just fine.

  • This is a seminal song first of all and it does not matter what anyone thinks; it's history. The Who are a major force in RnR history for several reasons but I just want to point out that John Entwisle's bass fill here is probably the most important RnR bass fill in RnR history... it just rips you guts out and give you the willies at the same time. Wow.

  • This song is immortal. It doesn't matter if you are 14 or 90, you always feel like it talks about your generation :-)

  • did we get sold a bill of goods....sad legacy

  • I'm 12 years old, what is this?

  • I'm just 15 and...

just kiding, i'm not one of these people who think they are the best because are young and listen good music. And i'm not one of these people who came and said bad things about the music of today.

  • @MrThorin2010 im just listen to this.....

  • @MrThorin2010 Young kids do that because they want people to know that they are rebelling against the absolute CRAP of today. They're fighting the stereotype that this generation likes nothing but Lady Gaga, screamo, and rap. Don't criticize them for it for cripes sake!

  • I wish i was the person that caught his guitar ....

  • @ericerest So you wish you were the person who caught the guitar huh? Well I don't have to wish because I was the one who did...I still have it to this very day..Was offered $30,000 but I'll never part with it.

  • @lestmbly Fucking liar

  • @allykay UI think I care if u believe me or not...Hey I'm just telling my story cause many people who have commented on this page always say things like ..."I wonder who caught the guitar" or..."whoever has that guitar is on lucky guy"....I often ponder if I should announce that I am the one who has Pete's Woodstock Guitar knowing a lot of doubters n haters like yourself would come out of the woodworks and call me a liar.So after over 35 years silence what better place then Y/tube to come out..

  • @lestmbly

    I call Shenanigans.

  • @BaronM huh?

  • @lestmbly LOL Considering it was well documented that the Who's roadies retrieved the guitar almost immediately you are a fucking liar

  • @thethoma (1)Nah son it was not well documented that a roadie retrieved the guitar. The person who many people thought was a roadie was actually me.OK.Let me explain..I was 16 y/o at the time n my dad was a stagehand/carpenter at Woodstock. Therefore being his son I was allowed to watch the entire festival from the photographer's pit directly in front of the stage. When Pete tossed the guitar into my hands my father told me to come up on-stage afterwards to give the guitar to him for safe keeping.

  • @thethoma (2)So it's understandable that I could have easily been mistaken as a roadie sent out to retrieve the guitar since I came up on the stage with the guitar..Not only do I have the guitar but I also was able to retrieve 1 of Keith Moon's drum sticks that u can see was tossed behind Pete @4:08.I just picked it up n put it in my back pocket on my way back to the photographer's pit.I don't give a f*ck if u don't believe me.Just thought I'd share the story. What better place then here.

  • @lestmbly LOL! You fulla shit you dumb nigga!

  • @ytpoliticsnigga can you not use the "n" word?

  • I think is marvelous....

    talkin' 'bout my generation !!!!

  • I think is marvelous....°

    talkin' 'bout my generation !!!!

  • Hehe funny how a guy from the crowd yels out F you and pete says "yeah sorry".

  • BRaaaaaaaaaaaaaavoooooooooooooo

  • damn, the person who catched that guitar.. damn...

  • @Xhaosz Was probably on ecstasy, so the guitar hit his head and he suffered from massive bleeding.

  • @kerend98

    ecstasy... 1969...

    no way!

  • @Xhaosz actually The Who didn't make a lot money until the 70s so Pete actually had someone down there to bring the guitar back to him after lol.

  • @kooljsl

    What a dick.

    Genius, but a dick.

  • @Xhaosz I guess Petes guitar tech ended back up with it, so ive read. also read other stories of the person keeping it. But im pretty sure petes tech, repaired it and pete used it again

  • @Xhaosz

he prolly was mauled and beaten to death.

  • @Xhaosz, the roadies retrieved it.

  • @Xhaosz

the person has to be lucky that the drummer didn't threw his instrument :P

  • THE WHO WILL ALWAYS ROCK , even tho they have hung up the instruments , because of Townsend hearing , (understandable , health is more important), Daltry can barley sing anymore , BUT LOVE YOU GUYS NONE THE LESS!! BEST BAND ALIVE!!!!!

  • What the hell?! Pete didn't shred until he closed his act with Summertime Blues! wtf is this?

  • @Clayton412

Umm...that's not "Summertime Blues". That bit after My Generation is called "Higher", and is an early version of a Who song called "Naked Eye". They almost always played it live during this period in their career.

  • @Clayton412 No. It ends with Naked Eye. In the documentary cut the song Summertime Blue and then Pete's solo show. What you've never heard Naked Eye full?

  • @Clayton412 It's called editing...

  • k chida banda es la mejor q he visto

  • Can tell their exhausted here, but still kick arse

  • Comment removed

  • the who used to smash up more equipment then they actually earned

  • pete townshend spacco la chitarra in quel modo dopo summertime blues non dopo my generation

  • povera chitarra..... sono troppo bravi...

  • che fattoni!! =) The Who rocks!!

  • best song ever made ,long live the who!

  • É um barato ver os caras bem novinhos!hehehehe, ops, rever! hehehehe.

  • also Zepp

  • Man just imagine if The Beatles, The Stones, and The Doors also played at woodstock... Along with Hendrix, The Who, etc... God

  • get the velvet underground, pink floyd, the stooges, the kinks, MC5, and a better sound system too.

  • nah man maybe floyd but the others no.. and no better sound system f that man :)

  • i know! its already an amazing line up. does anyone know why those bands didnt play?

  • the beatles didnt paly cus john lennon said he couldnt get every1 togheter

  • Zeppelin didn't want to play a show with a ton of other acts, like a festival or something, they preferred to play shows on their own with an opening act.

  • its not because of that led zeps manager signed them on another show were they guaranteed 50 000 people and woodstock had no gaurantee of tickets but they should of went to woodstock

  • @cedriclecool T WOULD'VE BEEN AWESOME , TO SE zEP AT wOODSTOCK , THEY WERE PROBALBLY INVITED but turned it down ,the Beatles were invited ,but they werein ENGLAND doing ABBe road album, ANYBODY WHO WAS SOMEBODY WAS INVITED , so why didn't hey play ?? who knows

  • @thecumgusher ya the beatles/john lennon were invited to play at woodstock were too busy to perform, and Zeppelin were also invited but their manager said that "they would just end being another band on the bill". they shoulda gone for it

  • FALSE! That was before zeppelin was hugely popular they didn't have their massive ego yet.

  • Haha my bad. I assumed they were already pretty popular, since their debut album came out in January.

  • @indi626

Ironically, their summer of 69 tour was notable for the large number of festival dates they played...something like 15 out of 36 shows.

Of all the festivals to turn down, huh?

  • Wow, I didn't know that. And yes, exactly!!!!

  • Dont forget dylan!

  • THAT'LL BE THE CLASSIC OF CLASSIC..

    and i'll faint...

but i wasn't born yet. lol

  • i love this performance,

    the music,the dark sky,the dancing.

    it just fits together.

i wish i could have been there to witness it.

to bad im born in the 19's.

  • I wonder who ended up catching that guitar that he tossed out!

  • a guy caught it but the road crew ripped it off him, the who had no money so they need to keep there guitars

  • That was a cheap trick!! Thanks for responding.I see that we're the same age, almost,I'll be 52 Oct.4th. I'm glad that I grew up listening to this music!!

  • well not so much, im only 15 but im in love with the 60-70, i would pay anything to live in those times, but what can you do, now im just collect all scrap of old thing (Vinyls, Videos, ETC.)

  • Your profile says you're 52.

  • oh really, thats must be a mistake, im younger

  • dude! me too im 16 and all i do is listen to 60's and 70's stuff
