Why do i love this? Mostly beacuse it's The Who at Woodstock '69, but there's no: "The two people that disliked this... blah, blah, blah...". We're all hippies here. We all love eachother. I love you guys.
@MrItsabeautifulday Great comment! You deserve that top comment spot for atleast another 2 years :D until its replaced with some: "the people who disliked this..." comment :(
townsend knew jimi was comming! Montery again! damn that hendrix guy! All jokes aside, the who and hendrix made their mark! My sentiment is if you played woodstock. you are rock hall of fame. Catch up BOARD!
I wonder who caught the guitar he threw in lol ..that would have been pretty cool!. Also, I wonder if people who went to woodstock ever watch these youtube videos.
Can I just say that a true hippie would never come on a site that millions can see and lay his shit bare. Doing acid and smoking weed doesn't make you fuckin' cool. It's a choice. What you do should be YOUR business. We don't care.
The only bad part was for a generation of love they sure did show a lot of hate to the soldiers returning home who had no choice but to serve during a draft.
@tanguman2 Hoseshit! They had a choice. Mohammad Ali went to jail rather than fight. Anyone else could have done the same. I was ready to go to Canada, but my number didn't come up. No one *has* to pull a trigger for the "man". Why do you think they staged that crap in NYC this time? So we wouldn't pull together and face them down like the hippies did in the 60s. We have wars for one reason and one reason only. So a few people can make a lot of money. Wake up people!
@randyleepublic1 Yeah right so we need to let the Hilter's of the world run rampant and let then have their way right? Wake up. Most people are anti war but when it comes down to it there is a time to fight as free people or prepare to be conquered.
@dsfddsgh No, what we need to do is stop enabling the vampires who engineer these fiascoes. Hitler was financed by western industrialists and probably others who did a better job of covering their tracks. The Rothschilds have a history of financing both sides in a war - then they make the victors collect the debt from the losers in return for favorable terms on the victors' debt.
See, it's the "comes down to it" part that concerns me, as I think that we have been and still are being played
@randyleepublic1 Sorry but it was the people who enabled Hitler and his kind. They loved that he got Germany off it's back and became a World power again. He didn't stay in power just because of some western industrialists propping him up. And the german people know they were complicit in the madness that followed.
This song gives me an impresion what voodstock wibe is! This gives you an ability to understand that beeing there doesn't mean anything, feeling it is more likely the way you can get into woodstock wibe... Just me... High as a kite speakin' out... Peace.
(Referring to StanolaGoW's comment in the highest rated) I don't care either what age people are, but I think people say that because I know for me in school when I tell people what music I like, they think it's out of the ordinary since they're all into today's mainstream, rap, and such.
But anyway, The Who is probably one of my favorite bands of all time! I remember my dad took me to the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame and we watched a video about Woodstock. It looked crazy, but fun.
This is a seminal song first of all and it does not matter what anyone thinks; it's history. The Who are a major force in RnR history for several reasons but I just want to point out that John Entwisle's bass fill here is probably the most important RnR bass fill in RnR history... it just rips you guts out and give you the willies at the same time. Wow.
just kiding, i'm not one of these people who think they are the best because are young and listen good music. And i'm not one of these people who came and said bad things about the music of today.
@MrThorin2010 Young kids do that because they want people to know that they are rebelling against the absolute CRAP of today. They're fighting the stereotype that this generation likes nothing but Lady Gaga, screamo, and rap. Don't criticize them for it for cripes sake!
@ericerest So you wish you were the person who caught the guitar huh? Well I don't have to wish because I was the one who did...I still have it to this very day..Was offered $30,000 but I'll never part with it.
@allykay UI think I care if u believe me or not...Hey I'm just telling my story cause many people who have commented on this page always say things like ..."I wonder who caught the guitar" or..."whoever has that guitar is on lucky guy"....I often ponder if I should announce that I am the one who has Pete's Woodstock Guitar knowing a lot of doubters n haters like yourself would come out of the woodworks and call me a liar.So after over 35 years silence what better place then Y/tube to come out..
@thethoma (1)Nah son it was not well documented that a roadie retrieved the guitar. The person who many people thought was a roadie was actually me.OK.Let me explain..I was 16 y/o at the time n my dad was a stagehand/carpenter at Woodstock. Therefore being his son I was allowed to watch the entire festival from the photographer's pit directly in front of the stage. When Pete tossed the guitar into my hands my father told me to come up on-stage afterwards to give the guitar to him for safe keeping.
@thethoma (2)So it's understandable that I could have easily been mistaken as a roadie sent out to retrieve the guitar since I came up on the stage with the guitar..Not only do I have the guitar but I also was able to retrieve 1 of Keith Moon's drum sticks that u can see was tossed behind Pete @4:08.I just picked it up n put it in my back pocket on my way back to the photographer's pit.I don't give a f*ck if u don't believe me.Just thought I'd share the story. What better place then here.

Umm...that's not "Summertime Blues". That bit after My Generation is called "Higher", and is an early version of a Who song called "Naked Eye". They almost always played it live during this period in their career.
@Clayton412 No. It ends with Naked Eye. In the documentary cut the song Summertime Blue and then Pete's solo show. What you've never heard Naked Eye full?
Zeppelin didn't want to play a show with a ton of other acts, like a festival or something, they preferred to play shows on their own with an opening act.
its not because of that led zeps manager signed them on another show were they guaranteed 50 000 people and woodstock had no gaurantee of tickets but they should of went to woodstock
@cedriclecool T WOULD'VE BEEN AWESOME , TO SE zEP AT wOODSTOCK , THEY WERE PROBALBLY INVITED but turned it down ,the Beatles were invited ,but they werein ENGLAND doing ABBe road album, ANYBODY WHO WAS SOMEBODY WAS INVITED , so why didn't hey play ?? who knows
@thecumgusher ya the beatles/john lennon were invited to play at woodstock were too busy to perform, and Zeppelin were also invited but their manager said that "they would just end being another band on the bill". they shoulda gone for it
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Beatles was pretty average live band -- they made their last show in Feb 69 for their "Let It Be" movie and the performance was quite lukerwarm; Stones wanted to be "special" and made their Atlamont instead; Doors was in bad shape in 1969 because of Morrison problems.
That was a cheap trick!! Thanks for responding.I see that we're the same age, almost,I'll be 52 Oct.4th. I'm glad that I grew up listening to this music!!
well not so much, im only 15 but im in love with the 60-70, i would pay anything to live in those times, but what can you do, now im just collect all scrap of old thing (Vinyls, Videos, ETC.)

Zeppelin didn't want to play a show with a ton of other acts, like a festival or something, they preferred to play shows on their own with an opening act.
indi626 2 years ago
its not because of that led zeps manager signed them on another show were they guaranteed 50 000 people and woodstock had no gaurantee of tickets but they should of went to woodstock
cedriclecool 2 years ago
@cedriclecool T WOULD'VE BEEN AWESOME , TO SE zEP AT wOODSTOCK , THEY WERE PROBALBLY INVITED but turned it down ,the Beatles were invited ,but they werein ENGLAND doing ABBe road album, ANYBODY WHO WAS SOMEBODY WAS INVITED , so why didn't hey play ?? who knows
thecumgusher 1 year ago
@thecumgusher ya the beatles/john lennon were invited to play at woodstock were too busy to perform, and Zeppelin were also invited but their manager said that "they would just end being another band on the bill". they shoulda gone for it

FALSE! That was before zeppelin was hugely popular they didn't have their massive ego yet.
11qheck 2 years ago
Haha my bad. I assumed they were already pretty popular, since their debut album came out in January.

@indi626
Ironically, their summer of 69 tour was notable for the large number of festival dates they played...something like 15 out of 36 shows.
Of all the festivals to turn down, huh?

Beatles was pretty average live band -- they made their last show in Feb 69 for their "Let It Be" movie and the performance was quite lukerwarm; Stones wanted to be "special" and made their Atlamont instead; Doors was in bad shape in 1969 because of Morrison problems.
