Just watched a couple of minutes of this and you can tell its an exhibition the intensity of both players is way below their matches on the tour, plus they seem to be a having a few problems with the surfaces with regard to footing and bounces.

@musico127 I guess it's two-sided. If you're playing on grass, you could drop shot the ball. However, if you're playing on clay because the time given to strike the ball, and the speed the ball comes off grass makes it harder to hit. Not sure tbh :/

it's always easier if your opponent is on a fast surface no matter what your style is and it is always easier for you when you're playing on a slow surface.

If you think about it, the better clay court player will have the complete advantage in this play. Why, might you ask? The attacking advantage is always easier to keep on the clay side hitting to the grass side because of court surface properties. On the grass side, balls come at you faster and hit away from you slower (after the bounce). From that logic, if Federer and Nadal were to play on this half-and-half surface multiple times, the majority winner will probably be Nadal.

That would be unfair since it's simply tougher to finish off a point on clay than on grass. Nadal would have an easier time hitting the ball to Federer on grass, Roger would have to deal with speedy balls and his balls would come back to Nadal with less resistance, on clay.
