Ok I agree with the message and goals of occupy completely, but where do you see this going exactly? So the clever slogans are grabing enough people's attention that it has become a fad among mostly upper-middle/middle class democrats (based on republican media reaction to Occupy) much of who may have agreed with this message beforehand. So afew Democratic candidates might pledge some but money still dictates most elections.alsomost people aretoo comfortable to REALLY try to change our govrnmnt
@MINCY and @DooG29 Let me see, what is bullshit about occupy? Let me fucking see, the people getting murdered, the open sex open masturbation, the fact that the have not one damn clue what they are saying, "Communism is good communism is good," What about Let me see, North Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, Russia, China, Talk about the MASS MURDERS and then you see why its bullshit. 80 million dead in China, One instance in russia alone was 12 million dead, thats two countries.
@Stilichos Exactly what about the occupy movement is bullshit? I hear people saying things like this, but they rarely mention specifics. Are you under the impression that protests like this can't have a poltical impact? Or what? Seriously, i'm wondering what would have to be going through your head to say that the occupy movement is bullshit but a nice idea.
@MNICY Well here in Canada the occupy movement is complete bullshit. When asking the protesters what they're protesting, it's all the same shit. "We want out of Iraq" um... Canada was never there. "We want out of Afghanistan" We pulled out a few months ago. "We want the Israelis to disarm" Yeah OK. As soon as that happens, the Muslims will not wait 24 hours to restart the Holocaust. The OWS in the US has real legitimacy. Elsewhere... just a bunch of copycats with nothing better to do
PART 2: Also, Wall Street affects Canadian and world markets... Citizens of the world have every right to protest the crimes going on at wall street USA.
@MNICY George Bush and Henry Kissinger are war criminals, but nobody will charge them. Even if Americans demanded them to be charged, it wouldn't happen. As a foreigner to America, they don't give to shits about anyone else's thoughts. Let them protest, no need to copycat for no good reason.
@hardleecure You don't think that the USA does not care about what others think? It may be true to say that about the average american, but I don't think it would be true if you look at the American Government. The US economy relies on foreign trade... What the rest of the world thinks matters very much.
@MNICY They banks had to trade into the government assets equal to the money they got. There is a petition going around that will be presented to Parliament to stop the bill to monitor the internet, but regardless of the petition, if Harper wants it in, he'll get it because he's the biggest piece of shit to be called PM since Mulroney.
@hardleecure "but regardless of the petition, if Harper wants it in, he'll get it because he's the biggest piece of shit to be called PM since Mulroney. "
But you make the statement that Canadians don't have a reason to protest?
@hardleecure Yes, that is another reason why Occupy is bullshit. yes, I know I sound like a moron for using words like this, Im supposed to be a suitable debater, Just wait till Im on the 2036 Republican ticket to see just what kind of debater I am.
@Stilichos you dont have to be a good debater to be a successful Republican, just a lying, bigoted, war mongering, poor bashing sounding media clown grade A a-hole.
@S2Cents Lying? ... I don't get how that works, the people I listen to play clips of the people talking, so lying doesnt make sense... Bashing? they deserve it for what they do, dont get me started. Bigoted? hmm, I firmly believe in my own opinions, but I do change them if I see reliable evidence for the opposing cause... War mongering? are you referring to the war on iraq? they attacked our soil, of course we will want to kill them.. second reply... running out of spce.
@S2Cents I hope you understand I don't mean the country itself, I just say that since I hear 'The war on iraq' so much, so sorry for that misconseption. But anyways, The Taliban and such did attack us, so we went to war... In Iraq and afghanistan and.. yeah, By the way, please do try to calm down, I don't much like being called an A-hole, Bigoted, and I dont like my posts being called pathetic, because mine actually make sense, ...
@Stilichos The Taliban didn't attack us either. The prime suspects were Osama Bin Laden's group of Saudi Arabian assholes, al Qaeda. The Taliban are Afghans and they even offered to give up or give Osama's location to avoid being bombed by the US. Anyway, whatever.
@S2Cents I've gotten a second opinion on this, since I didn't really know what to reply, but one question I definately thought of... What are your sources for this? I have never heard of the taliban offering to give up osama. I can't count that as reliable unless I see its from a reliable source. My point was that we went to war, its not with whom that matters, but that they deserve it. And that a premeditated assault on civilians is something that you own up for.
@S2Cents Bashing on the poor? NO, I don't hate poor people. What I don't like however is giving a free pass, there are people who put themselves in a situation, like doing drugs or alcohol and they end up poor. If they can stop that, and get a good job, then they can do great things, but I don't feel comfortable handing my money out to someone who just eats cheeze puffs and watches american idol all day, and doesn't turn on the internet for job hunting, thats called thievery,
@MNICY Nice idea of being creative with legos, but sad that it had to be about the occupy movement, believe me, what I just said, I could go on for a bit more.
From what I saw at Occupy Wall Street it's not a movement it's more of a forum. Movements either go forward or backwards and have a clear set of demands. Occupy Wall Street is a place for people to express many different opinions on things like the economy, fracking, gay marriage, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, etc. but nothing is actually getting done. They are, as the name implies, just occupying. To any Occupiers reading this and are upset about this please prove me wrong.
@brastmonkey You're very wrong about nothing getting done. Nothing is ever an isolated incident. The OWS sparked a move of nearly 800,000 moving accounts from major banks to credit unions. As a result the major banks who have acted thinking that customers have no say in their policies have actually backed off of a few rate increases. The regulatory laws that were rescinded during the Bush era seem almost certain to make a comeback because of the pressure brought to bear by the OWS movement.
@chariotdrvr14 Bank Transfer Day was a good start but it was nothing by comparison to what we have seen in Oakland. Seizing a whole port sends a strong message to the establishment that they're here to stay and shows what they can accomplish. If the Occupy camps were teams competing against each other Oakland would be leading while New York is falling behind.
@brastmonkey The issue is, this is the only way to truly get something done. Weve tried movements before, the establishment coops them and moves on. The Occupy movement is complex by design, and yes it is a forum, but things are being done, like Wolf-pac etc.. And most importantly right now weve turned the national debate, and that alone is a step in the right direction.
@wReCktangle raising awareness about the corruption of our capitalist system. since its a grassroots based movement raising awareness will hope to trigger a change of social norms whereby governments protect people over profits. the way i see it, its the first step in a long process
@suuperstylin So, by sitting in a tent, in a park... that is somehow supposed to motivate the change of some vague accusation of "corruption", WITHIN Government.
That's going to be achieved by sitting in a tent, in a park? Okay got-cha.
I presume there is someone, in those tents, that people know is not "corrupt" and they could, you know, actually use the system of "REPRESENTATIVE Democracy" and try to vote them into office. To change it from within.
@wReCktangle like i said hopefully this is the beginning of a long process of reform. there are plenty of resources which will give you clear facts and sources which demonstrate the corruption im referring to, if you take some time to read about their concerns yourself you might not be so dismissive. in any case they aren't hurting you so let them be
@SolidarityMediaCrew I'd prefer to see a long process that effects changes, not just to some politician who momentarily appeases the masses while initiating alternate corruption, but changes to the base, we the society, whereby our realization that the current paradigm of society is a bill of goods sold by an ever encroaching minority who's institutions direct us toward acheiving their goals. Society has to supplant those goals and reorient it's direction to custodianship of society.
instead of getting a full time job I'm going to play with legos, american priorities are messed up

@hardleecure I am in Canada actually. Yes we in Canada have allot less to complain about, but that does not mean we don't have legitimate complaints.
What about the money that the canadian government gave to help bail out the banks?
What about the crazy internet monitoring bullshit they are trying to pass?
And even if we did not have any issues, that would not diminish the benefit that standing in solidarity with the OWS protesters creates.
