  • I don't usually look up bass covers, but this song had a really sexy bass, I just had to look it up. And in all honesty I'm really liking what you did there.

  • Wow man great playing! Makes me want to re do my vid and slap it all!

  • NICE! =D

  • some sources say that Jeff Porcaro played drums for this song.

  • ci vorrebbe un bel fender jazz.. cmq.. bene anche con il precision.

Hai un manico Allparts? o Mighty Mite.?

  • 1 asshole missed the like button

  • @hdi200

    get a life

  • Sounds very good Man!!!!

  • Hey Guy, you are very good and from the video I can see you have it but why don't you hit the high notes? Looking at your technique, you have the skills to hit them and come back to the root. You rock (and R&B) dude!

  • Great slapping and muting technique. It truly is amazing how in a groove, less is more !!! Nice job !

  • great job playing that. But i think really you should on the first 3-4 slaps try to make them more smooth. If you understand, they could be hold for a longer time but when you go down on the G and just use thumbs it grooves good. good job.

  • this guy looks like a pimp lol awesome cover man

  • Love the song, amazing cover and liking the image you got going, do you have the tab? so i could also play this awesome song, please

  • Thats sick! Nice guitar skills!

  • alwo12 ;

Ever heard of a dude named Chuck Rainey? Check his credentials. He slapped when recording Steely Dan's 'Peg' because he thought slapping was called for. The boys 'never knew it went down' but obviously liked it. So I'd say slapping isn't necessarily 'shit.'

  • hey man that's exactly the tone I've been searching for years. What kind of pbass is that? pickups and strings? cheers, you're a great musician

  • much PROPS!

  • datz sick

  • Very nice. You are one cool dude. Theres a fine line between a good bassist and a great bassist and you are bloody brilliant. I need to be more creative with my bass work on things I record, normally its just the root of the chord or the same as the guitar melody.

  • dang that was nasty sick lol nice.

  • amazing bass slap you nailed the groove !!!

  • you are the best friend... come too barcelona got the god party... in the best disco in this beatiful city

  • Hey SlikkTim,

Thanks for the demo, I am learning bass after years of guitar playing and this has always been one of my fav bass lines.

Please post some more things if you can

    You're great!

  • Good job man. You got soul

  • awesome song. Still pretty much a funk/disco n00b but what ive heard i love. First heard this song on king of the hill actually and only discovered what it was after watching some Al Pacino film, emm cant member what its called but im sure its a big one. Anyway awesome bassline, cool hat ;)

  • That would have been Carlito's Way ;)

  • good funkin groove, even if that song is not really my cup of tea. But then again, who cares !

  • Yow... Nice talent... but i think u can show more if u do solo, without the original track, or if u put volume down...

If u can, send to me only your solo song to do a g8 mix... just to have a different think...

Keep doing g8, u r very good playa!

    Greetings from brazil!

  • encore ???,,,

theres a lot more on encore deep in side the track ,,on bass ,, my mix was for a friend u might not hear much ,,, buts its all there if u listen ,, bon chance ,,

  • Is that Louis Johnson or Toto's David Hungate playing bass here?

  • (C. Lynn/D. Paich/D. Foster); Produced and arranged by David and Marty Paich; Cheryl Lynn, lead and background vocals; Ray Parker, Jr., guitar; David Paich, keyboards; David Shields, bass; James Gadson, drums; Rec. Los Angeles, 1978. Columbia single 33386; P 1978 Sony Music Entertainment Inc.

  • I'm kiddin man. This track was ripped to death ever since hiphop was born, and a special Hiphop basslines is in the works, and I'm pretty sure i'm gonna find some g-funk that sampled that shit

  • Because Cheryl Lynn can sing

  • Just one question : are you slapping flatwounds???

  • Nope, not on this vid

  • Excellent! Do da funk!

  • excellent!

  • gran cancion eres bueno amigo

  • I wish I could play this. I'm not at that level yet. good job, dude.

  • great job man
