in my comment you see i call it variable cam timing (vct) i used the term vtec very fluidly, just for the fact its a generic term in the sense of car knowledge. altho honda is the first auto maker to do variable timing on the intake cam, normally it is done on the exhaust cam
just to let you know, bmw invented variable cam timing, also known as vtec, and no, honda is not the only car maker to use vtec, ford uses it, mazda uses it, nissan uses it. honda is the only one that calls it vtec
i have a 85 with 2002tii bottom end stroked to 2.1 with a 50t making the same power @ .7 bar of boost, i need a tune and an exhaust leak fixed before i can re-dyno with more boost. and a gm 3bar
the 2jz is becoming a pretty common swap for the e30 as well, and the cost isnt too high. + the stock internals can withstand alot of horsepower before you have to upgrade.
Looks like the M20, and from the title, I'd assume it's an M20B27. It has an aftermarket intake manifold (with separate throttle bodies), if that threw you off.
Then dont turbo it... sorry man but if your not gonna pay dont play.... 666 short runner is the cheapest thing out there for the quality you get... sure you can get one off ebay but i promise it will fall apart...

Did you rebuild a 2.5 or buy a new 2.7stroker? If I were to swith to the stroker from the ETA, only the ecu and harnesses would need to change(esssentialy)?
Rebuilt the motor using ETA parts to make a 2.7L stroker. This is running on Megasquirt 2. I guess you could get it to run by doing a ecu and harness conversion but the tune will be off.

@sarazinj Its actually called VCT, not vtec, and ford uses it a lot, on the escort zx2, etc etc. It helps with a SMALL amount of low end torque

m50 motor can produce outstanding amounts of Hp but you have to have time, money, and patience to install

200hp is a fun amount of power, 250 can be ALOT of fun, 300+hp is just the "oh shit" factor in increasing intensity in a car this small

@kawana87 I think the bottom M20 with the diesel rod takes about 400hp in engine before it dies.
