There are lots of different interpritations as to what stances one can take philisophically, and from a character stand point there is lots of room for inferance and interpritation. That being said, since this is the Disney version the Hawks and Griffith have a sing off about how awesome friendship is, and they reject the demon horde, because darn it, that's what friends do for each other!
